    <link>https://www.ksat.com/topic/Whatever_The_Weather/</link>
    <language>en</language>
<copyright>Produced by KSAT, in cooperation with Graham Media Group.</copyright>
<description>Whatever the weather, your local meteorologists have it covered on the news – for about three minutes, in between commercial breaks. Rarely, though, do they have time to explain weather phenomena in a longer format, in depth. On "Whatever the Weather" your local meteorologists dig deeper and tell you all you want to know about Mother Nature – from tornadoes, to freezing rain, to climate change. They also chat about what it’s like to be broadcast meteorologists, and the challenges they sometimes face in day-to-day TV life. So put on your nerdiest glasses, pop on your best headphones, and enjoy... Whatever the Weather! Proudly presented by KSAT-12 in San Antonio, TX.</description>

<title>🥵 Did we just live through the hottest San Antonio summer ever?!!</title>
      <link>https://www.ksat.com/weather/2023/08/31/summer-2023-officially-san-antonios-hottest-on-record/</link>
<description>Meteorological summer is defined as the months of June, July, and August. And despite a rainy and cooler start to June, the rest of Summer 2023 was brutally hot because of a strong and persistent high-pressure system, conversationally known as a “heat dome.”
To tie a bow on the end of this summer, August 2023 is now officially San Antonio’s hottest month ever on record. The average temperature for the month was 90.6 degrees with a staggering average high of 103.0 degrees. For all but two days, the thermometer reached the triple digits...wow!
Speaking of triple digits, this summer also brought the longest streak of consecutive triple-digit days on record. After an initial stretch of 15 consecutive triple-digit days in July that ended on a day where we found a few storms in the area, we started another streak on July 30. This second streak would go on for 23 days before finally coming to an end on August 22 when South Texas saw rain from Tropical Storm Harold.

      <title>The deal about drought</title>
      <link>https://www.ksat.com/topic/Whatever_The_Weather/</link>
<description>As meteorologists we spend a lot of time talking about rains and storms but this episode if about the opposite of that-- drought. It's a move of a weather pattern than a weather phenomena and is something most of the United States deals with on the daily. Here in San Antonio, it's important to understand the effects of drought and how to help conserve water. In this episode we also look into how climate change is effecting drought and how we deal with it.
Don't forget to submit your questions to Sarah Spivey and Kaiti Blake by visiting the Whatever the Weather page on ksat.com.

      <link>https://www.ksat.com/weather/2021/09/29/making-waves-with-hurricanes-watch-whatever-the-weather-video-podcast-with-sarah-spivey-and-kaiti-blake/</link>
<description>A hurricane or tropical storm can cause complete destruction for those in the storm’s path. Thankfully, forecasting these weather beasts has improved greatly in the past few decades.
In this episode of Whatever the Weather, Meteorologists Kaiti Blake and Sarah Spivey detail the science behind what it takes to make a hurricane.
Do you know the difference between hurricanes, cyclones and typhoons? The ladies chat about this, too.
Sarah and Kaiti also discuss historical storms, such as the Galveston 1900 hurricane, which still stands as America’s deadliest natural disaster EVER.
For this week’s episode, Sarah and Kaiti recorded at the San Antonio Food Bank, which responds to natural disasters locally and across the state. The SA Food Bank is always open for volunteers and donations. If you’d like to contribute, please visit https://safoodbank.org/.

<title>So you think you can be a meteorologist?</title>
      <link>https://www.ksat.com/weather/2021/07/13/whatever-the-weather-so-youd-like-to-be-a-meteorologist/</link>
<description>Being a meteorologist is a lot more than standing in front of a green screen and reading a temperature map!
In fact, it takes years of education, training and — let’s be honest — a bit of hairspray to be able to bring you your local forecast.
In this episode of Whatever the Weather, meteorologists Kaiti Blake and Sarah Spivey walk through how they became meteorologists, which universities they attended, and a little about their first jobs in the business.
Sarah and Kaiti also explain what a day in their shoes looks like, from getting ready to go on camera, to presenting the weather in a creative way, and whether or not they read the prompter.

      <title>Central Plains Tornado 'Outbreak?' - Weather Roundup</title>
<description>If you watched the national news this week, you probably heard all about the potential for 'catastrophic' and 'deadly' tornadoes across parts of the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma on Monday, May 20th. The Storm Prediction Center even issued a rare 'high risk' for severe weather...the first one of its kind in over two years. While it was an active day with plenty of severe weather reported, the question remains whether or not the forecast was a bust. Today, Meteorologists Sarah Spivey and Justin Horne recap Monday's events.
