We first start with a live guest who joins us to show us how to property disinfect surfaces during coronavirus pandemic. Arman Semerjian is the co-founder of Sono Health Care. They manufacture the Sono Disinfecting Wipes that both Mike and I have been using to keep ourselves safe from germs and bacteria during Covid-19 outbreak. It’s important to watch and listen to see how we are all supposed to disinfect the dirtiest thing we use every day…our cellphones!  Then we get into our topic for the week…ghosting vs. social distancing. Being in quarantine is a legit reason to turn down a date. So while single people aren’t allowed to physically date, then does this mean that people will stop ghosting and use social distancing as their reasoning to stop talking to someone? Mike has a different theory and our live audience weighs in, while I have a totally different opinion on all this. We end the show with more banter about the word “sure”. Seems like we will never stop talking about it since it’s an unresolved dilemma at this point. Surely, we’re not taking it seriously. ]]> 3994 Episode 415: Gender Roles Gender roles. Loaded topic, I know.  Today was Kobe and Gigi Bryant’s memorial. Originally, the topic for today was going to be “Should we stay friends with our exes?” But after watching the memorial, I postponed that topic for next Monday.  I felt more passionate to talk about gender roles.  I know Mike and I share a similar stance on gender roles but we’re also very aware that the rest of the world does not share the same opinions as us and that’s OK! As a matter of fact, we welcome the different opinions.  Many career women are aggravated by men. They want a man to step up and lead…while a man pursuing a career woman might actually think she prefers to lead. I think there are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to this topic because we don’t actually talk about it with each individual that we’re pursuing.  I sure do…I always ask a man questions to get a feel for his views on gender roles. If he thinks EVERYTHING must be 50/50, I’m out. That man isn’t for me. (If you’ve been watching The Anna Report long enough, you’ll know that I am against the 50/50 ideology. I believe in 100/100 partnership/marriage/friendship).  I hope more men would step up and ask the woman they have an intention of dating questions to clarify the mutual understanding of gender roles. Don’t be afraid to walk away even if she’s got all the physical attributes that your big guy down under desires.   We do not live in our grandparent’s era where we are born into given gender roles. We must write our own individual rules for our own selves and the relationships we choose to be in. Let’s also keep in mind that sometimes our views can change and evolve and that’s OK too! If Kobe was born in the 1930s and pushed so hard to be a girl dad…do you think he would have been just as embraced or he would have been made fun of? Do you think men are aggressive and women are submissive?  Do you think men are independent while women are dependent? Are men dominant and women subservient? Is it true that men are active and women are passive? Do you think men are cruel and women are kind? These are traditional gender stereotypes but are they true? For some people, they might be true. For others only a couple of those are true…and for others these traditional stereotypes are a joke. Kobe definitely motivated and influenced me but I was touched by how well he inspired the men around me. I was ready to cancel this show but every time I came across one of his quotes, I was convinced that I need to push through the grief, shock, loss, and pain. Aside from Kobe’s unmeasurable talent on the basketball court, he was also an exceptional father, humanitarian, mentor, and friend. And how could we forget that he got a second chance at his marriage and chose to make it exceptionally right. There is so much we can endlessly learn from the legacy that Kobe Bryant left behind.
