What does it take to design a motorcycle when the brief comes from the battlefield instead of the showroom?

In this episode of Bore and Stoke, we sit down with longtime motorcycle designer Michael Uhlarik to talk about his career shaping bikes across the globe, his latest project developing an electric motorcycle for military use, and why we’re looking at the wrong metrics when it comes to the future of this sport.

From the fundamentals of great motorcycle design to the challenges of packaging electric powertrains, Uhlarik gives us a rare look behind the curtain at how motorcycles come to life. We also dive into motorcycle design for the track versus the street, and how designing for military applications changes everything — from durability and stealth to real-world usability in extreme conditions.

If you’ve ever wondered what goes into motorcycle design — and how some of those decisions are made — this is an episode you don’t want to miss.

On Episode 21 of Motorcycle.com’s Bore & Stoke Podcast, we’ve got a packed show covering breaking racing news, major recalls, industry shakeups, gear talk, and a stacked First Ride roundup.

We kick things off by introducing our newest team member and a quick callback to last week’s episode with Zack and Ari before diving into the big headline: MotoGP is set to leave the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit for a new Adelaide city circuit. Good move? Risky gamble? We break it down.

From there, we cover recalls affecting the Harley-Davidson Sportster S and the Ducati Panigale V4 / Ducati Streetfighter V4, plus take a first look at the limited-edition Ducati Formula 73.

On the business front, we break down five key takeaways from Harley-Davidson’s Q4 2025 financial results and discuss MV Agusta taking a not-so-subtle dig at KTM over paywalled electronics.

We also reflect on the legacy of AMA Hall of Famer George Barber and dive into helmet tech with a discussion about MIPS and its evolution in moto culture.

In Gear this week: the Arai XD-5.

Then it’s First Ride time:

2026 Ducati Monster

2026 Yamaha WR125R

2026 Triumph Trident 800

2026 KTM 990 Duke R

Sit down and get comfortable. This is another good one.

On Episode 20 of the Bore and Stoke podcast, Troy sits down with Ari Henning and Zack Courts — two of the most influential voices in modern moto media. From their early days building their loyal following, Ari and Zack have helped redefine how motorcycles are reviewed, tested, and talked about in the YouTube era.

In this episode, we dive into:

• The evolution (and future) of motorcycle journalism
• What really goes into their creative process
• Ari's love for little engines
• Stories yet to be told
• Recovering mentally and physically from a crash
• The bikes that surprised them most

It’s an honest and fresh look at two guys who’ve lived it — along with plenty of rider philosophy and a few wise cracks along the way.

Episode 18: Neil Graham on Broken Ducatis, The Meaning of Motorcycling, And What Comes Next

In this episode of Motorcycle.com’s Bore and Stoke Podcast, we’re joined by Neil Graham — Gemini Award–winning documentarian, former Editor-in-Chief of Cycle Canada, and host of The Lowdown podcast for ADV Rider.

Neil has done it all: bought old Ducatis, fixed them, raced them, fixed them again, and turned those experiences into some of the most honest storytelling in motorcycling. We dig into riding, racing, wrenching, and making documentaries that have nothing to do with motorcycles. Along the way we dive into random tangents like his cats and how he kicked my butt so bad on a bicycle ride that I’ve been a gym rat ever since.

We also talk about Neil’s Long Hard Road series on Motorcycle.com — a deeply personal look at the highs and lows of riding — and where he thinks the world of moto journalism is headed in the age of YouTube, podcasts, and AI.

If you like irreverent banter between two friends about motorcycles, life, and general randomness, this one’s for you.

The Bore and Stoke crew is back with a packed Episode 17 — the first of 2026! — covering major industry news, leaked reveals, and a long list of first-ride reviews.

We kick things off with a shoutout to Episode 16 listeners before diving into our annual Motorcycle of the Year awards and a recall affecting KTM 390 and Husqvarna 401 models. From there, it’s first-ride impressions of Honda’s 2026 CRF300F and a deeper look at KTM’s future as Neumeister is confirmed to continue running the company through 2028.

Harley-Davidson dominates the middle of the episode with executive team changes, early looks at upcoming 2026 models, and a confirmed 125th Anniversary Indian Scout Bobber. We also touch on Ducati’s 100th birthday and a possible special edition model to celebrate it. Next we highlight Neil Graham's three-part Long Hard Road series, and first looks at Triumph’s Thruxton and Tracker 400 models.

The back half of the show is all about riding, as we dig into first-ride reviews of the 2027 KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO, 2026 Aprilia RS 660 Factory, and the 2026 Suzuki GSX-8TT. We wrap things up with a new segment we're trying called Ride & Seek, before closing the show with a tribute to our MotoGP contributor, Bruce Allen.

As always, find the full written reviews, photos, and videos on Motorcycle.com.

We’d like to extend a special thank you to our podcast sponsor, the Honda Gold Wing. If you’re gonna ride, ride something legendary.
In this episode of Motorcycle.com’s Bore and Stoke Podcast, we’re joined by off-road racing legend Johnny Campbell — the backbone of Honda’s Baja program and one of the most influential figures in desert racing history.

From defining what “Honda durability” really means during a 1,000-mile Baja race, to reflecting on 11 straight Baja 1000 victories, Johnny walks us through the evolution of off-road racing, the realities of product development at Honda, and what goes on behind the scenes of real-world durability testing.

We also dig into some classic Baja stories, his transition from racer to team manager and industry leader, the current health of off-road and rally racing, and — just to keep things interesting — his thoughts on the 50th Anniversary Honda Gold Wing.

If you’re into off-road racing, Baja history, motorcycle development, or simply hearing from someone who’s lived every side of the sport, this one’s not to be missed.

05:39 What do you think is the most significant change of rally racing?

10:34 How have riders evolved over the years?

11:52 What do the guys do in the motorhomes now with digital roadbooks?

15:30 If you were to race Baja now, XR650R or CRF450X?

18:35 What’s the most personally meaningful Baja 1000 win?

20:38 When is it OK to piss your pants while racing?

22:10 Give us some wild stories!

26:35 What was the career plan?

In this episode, Troy, Ryan, Dennis, and Nic sit down to break down the biggest announcements, reveals, surprises, and head-scratchers from this year’s show in Milan. No guest this time — just the crew digging into the bikes everyone’s talking about.

We cover all the major highlights from the floor, including an adventure scooter from Aprilia, AI-generated marketing images from BMW, a wild V4 sportbike from CFMOTO, Honda’s naked bike with an electronic compressor, Norton’s revival, Zero’s future, and so much more!

We break down what impressed us, what didn’t, and the broader trends we see shaping the next few years of motorcycling.

If you want the inside take from four guys who poured over the numerous press releases sent out from the show floor — this is the episode to watch.

Once again, the MO crew are back to talk about what's happening in the moto world — and boy, a LOT has happened since the last time we met.

It's not even EICMA time yet, and we have a slew of new models that have been introduced. From sport-touring machines, to dirt models, and everything in between. We tell you what we know, and then what we think.

We've also got industry news, a little bit of racing new, as well as some quirky bits to talk about, like BMW's Pope-mobile.

Lastly, we end with a discussion about our recent Middleweight Naked Bike test and Harley's latest twist on the Pan America.

We’d like to extend a special thank you to our podcast sponsor, the Honda Gold Wing. If you’re gonna ride, ride something legendary. Learn more about the 50th anniversary of the Honda Gold Wing here: https://www.motorcycle.com/l/w0p.

Episode 6: ECU Tuning Secrets Revealed!

In this episode of The Bore & Stoke Podcast, we sit down with Shiv Pathak—an expert in motorcycle ECU tuning—to unpack how modern regulations are shaping the way your bike rides, often in ways you’d never expect. From Ducati’s locked-down throttle maps to BMW’s confusing gear-based restrictions, Shiv explains how Euro 5 emissions and U.S. sound regulations force manufacturers to make compromises that directly affect performance and rideability.

We dig into why the U.S. versions of popular European bikes are often significantly down on power, how aftermarket tuning restores (and often improves) what was lost, and why track testing isn’t always the best benchmark for a great road tune. Shiv also shares insights on tuning cars vs bikes, the myth of the dyno chart, and how social media has skewed the perception of what good tuning actually is. If you've ever wondered why your motorcycle doesn’t ride the way it should—this is the episode for you.

Episode 5: So Many Events, So Little Time

Episode five of the Bore and Stoke podcast is coming at you, and this week sees the band getting back together to talk about all the happenings in the moto world — and we even get a visit from an old cast member!

In case you aren’t aware, odd-numbered episodes feature the MO crew chatting about the latest news and reviews. From events that have hit the headlines to the latest bikes we’re testing, odd-numbered episodes are our chance to talk about them. In this case, we’re starting off with some big news in the MotoGP world as Liberty Media has finally been given the green light to complete its purchase of MotoGP. We get into the details and the implications, and why we think it’s ultimately a positive for the sport.

We move on from there to talk about the comeback of Norton — or so we hope. We’ve been teased with Norton comebacks before, but now that Indian manufacturer TVS has taken ownership, there’s real reason to believe it’s for real this time. Dennis Chung fills us in on what he knows.

Jumping across the puddle from Norton, we give a shout out to the Isle of Man TT. Yes, we realize we’re a little late in our IOM TT news, but we had to acknowledge that it happened, history was set, and as always, there was some good racing! And while the Senior TT was canceled due to weather, we’re happy to report that nobody died this year.

Going from one big event to another, Nic de Sena fills us in on his time attending the Aprilia All Stars in Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. A big party and fan fest for Aprilia lovers, Nic tells us what he saw, how the event went, and why you’ll want to make it a destination in the future.

After that, we pivot and talk bikes, starting with the potential new touring bike from Suzuki, the GSX-8T. We then jump price tags quite a bit and chat about the MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Ago. While beautiful and eye-catching, you might be surprised to learn its most interesting feature… is its key. Then we close out the new bike segment going all the way back down the price scale and talk about Kawasaki’s new KLX230 DF and Sherpa.

We wrap up the episode talking about the bikes we’ve ridden. Former MOron Tom Roderick joins us to talk about not one, but two new Hondas — the long-awaited CB750 Hornet and CB1000 SP. Senior Editor Nic de Sena catches up with the high-powered Aprilia RSV4 Factory 1100, and E-i-C Ryan Adams is positively electric about the Stark Varg EX.

As always, it’s a fun episode, and one you don’t want to miss!

Bore and Stoke Podcast Ep. 3: WTF Is Happening?

In episode 3 of the Bore & Stoke podcast, we question what’s going on in the world today. With the latest news that Bajaj has saved KTM and basically owns it now, to Baggers joining MotoGP, there are a lot of big things to talk about.

After diving into the weeds with our discussion about KTM and Baggers, we continue the conversation talking about BMW’s new concept bike and what it means going forward. Then we get into the meat of the conversation, as Ryan and Troy talk Next Gen Supersports. Specifically, the latest test we did with the 2025 Ducati Panigale V2, Suzuki GSX-R750, and Yamaha YZF-R9. We had a lot to say about them, and so did you, as evidenced by the reactions on our Youtube video. So, naturally, we talk about it some more!

Finally, we cap things off discussing some of the new bikes we’ve ridden recently, like the Ducati Streetfighter V4, Suzuki DRZ-4S, Kawasaki Z900SE, KTM 450SMR, and one more Ducati, the XDiavel V4.

We cover a lot in this hour – you won’t want to miss it!

In case our written reviews and videos weren’t enough, the Motorcycle.com crew has now entered the world of podcasts! Say hello to Bore & Stoke, Motorcycle.com’s new podcast. In this first episode, we’ll tell you what Bore & Stoke is, how often it’ll come at you, and why you’ll want to keep tuning in.

Once you learn about the podcast, you’ll get to meet the four MO staffers and maybe even learn a little something about us – including Dennis Chung!

We’ll then get right into the meat of the conversation with some exciting new model news from Kawasaki and BMW, before we wrap things up with a discussion about the new Yamaha YZF-R9 and the emerging Next Gen Supersport category as a whole. There might even be a teaser for an upcoming test we’re working on.

We’d like to extend a special thank you to our podcast sponsor, the Honda Gold Wing. If you’re gonna ride, ride something legendary. Learn more about the 50th anniversary of the Honda Gold Wing here.
