An Elderly Couple Murdered in Davis

The Hit-and-Run Murder of Larnell Bruce

Just before midnight on August 10th, 2016, in a suburb of Portland, Oregon, 38-year-old Russell Courtier and his girlfriend pull into a 7-11 in her red Jeep Wrangler. Nineteen-year-old Larnell Bruce and a friend are already there, standing outside. For reasons unknown, an altercation begins. Shortly after, cameras capture Bruce sprinting down a nearby street, weaving from sidewalk to road as Courtier chases him in the Jeep, swerving across lanes and accelerating. The car then hits Bruce, off-camera. Bruce is declared brain-dead and dies three days later.

The Targeting of a Jewish Community Center and Murder of a Postal Worker

Bus Stop Murder

23-year-old African-American student Richard Collins III was waiting for an Uber ride at bus stop with two friends when he was approached by Sean Urbanski, who stabbed him in an unprovoked attack. Collins was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Saadia and Asad discuss the details of the case.

Remembering Charlie Howard

In 1984, Charlie Howard, a young gay man from Bangor, Maine, was walking home when he was harassed by three young men with homophobic slurs. The situation escalated, and Howard was thrown off a bridge into the Kenduskeag Stream, where he drowned. Hear his story and how his death helped to bring attention to hate crimes and discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community.

The Murder of Mulugeta Seraw

In November 1988, Mulugeta Seraw, an Ethiopian immigrant, was killed by a group of three white supremacist skinheads in Portland, Oregon. The three men, members of the racist group East Side White Pride, beat Seraw to death with a baseball bat. Saadia and Asad discuss the attack and how it was racially motivated.

Justice for Kendrick Johnson

Kendrick Johnson was a high school student who was found dead inside a rolled-up gym mat at his school in Valdosta, Georgia in 2013. The official cause of death was ruled as accidental, but his family and supporters have claimed that he was murdered. Killed in the Line of Duty

Sandeep Dhaliwal was a sheriff's deputy in Harris County, Texas when he was shot and killed in the line of duty on September 27, 2019. He was the first member of the Sikh community to be hired as a deputy in the Harris County Sheriff's Office and was known for his work in community outreach. Saadia and Asad investigate his murder.

A Kidnapping in Kansas City
