Arkansas baseball LOCKING IN after Missouri series victory

The No. 22 Arkansas Razorbacks (29-16) are up two spots in D1 Baseball's Top-25 rankings, and for good reason.

The Hogs are fresh off a series victory against the Missouri Tigers.

Arkansas opened the series with a 5–4 comeback win, highlighted by a go-ahead two-run homer from Zack Stewart in the 8th inning. Missouri had jumped out early, but Arkansas chipped away and used late power to steal the opener.

The Razorbacks followed with a 6–0 shutout, getting dominant pitching and timely offense. The win clinched the series for Arkansas and continued Missouri’s offensive struggles.

Missouri avoided the sweep with a 6–1 victory. The Tigers jumped on Arkansas early with a big first inning and backed it up with strong relief pitching.

Listen to this week's Hog Central Podcast with Bubba Carpenter and KATV's Steve Sullivan as they dive into the Hogs' recent victory.

Arkansas enters a home stand this week as the Razorbacks are slated to face Northwestern State on Tuesday and Wednesday before turning around and facing Ole Miss for the weekend series in Fayetteville.

FINAL FOUR BOUND? Arkansas brings hot offense into March Madness

The No. 4 seed Arkansas Razorbacks are going dancing.

Arkansas earned the No. 4 seed after beating Vanderbilt 86-75 in the SEC Championship on Sunday. Shortly thereafter, the Hogs were picked as the fourth seed in the West Region.

The Razorbacks are slated to take on No. 13 Hawai'i in Portland, Oregon, at the Moda Center on Thursday, March 19.

The game will be televised on TBS at 3:25 p.m.

It is the third time the two programs have played on the hardwood, with the first two meetings occurring on back-to-back days in 1977 in Honolulu.

Arkansas finished the year 26-8 in addition to being crowned SEC Tournament champions. The Hogs finished as SEC runner-up during the regular season.

Hawai'i (24-8) beat UC Irvine in the Big West Tournament finals and finished second in Big West play.

Should Arkansas win its first-round matchup, the Razorbacks would face the winner of No. 5 seed Wisconsin and No. 12 seed High Point on Saturday, March 21, in Portland.

The Razorbacks hold a career NCAA Tournament record of 52-36, and hold a strong record in first-round games, at 20-8.

After the Hogs' 34-point loss to Florida, the Razorbacks rebounded to win their final two regular-season games of the year against Texas (105-85) and Missouri (88-84).

Newly christened SEC Player of the Year and SEC Freshman of the Year, Darius Acuff Jr., leads the Hogs in assists and points going into the postseason.

To end the regular season, Arkansas finished 23-8 overall and finished tied second in the SEC with a 13-5 conference record.

The Razorbacks bring one of the nation's best scoring offenses into the postseason.

The Hogs are 4th in the nation in points per game. However, the defense will need to play up a level. The Razorbacks' defense is allowing 80 points per game, which ranks 330 out of 365 D1 basketball teams.

Can Darius Acuff Jr., and Meleek Thomas lead the Razorbacks to an SEC title?

Former Razorback guard Boogie Fland, now at Florida, poured it on his former team. Fland was one of seven gators who scored double figures.
Billy Richmond III led the Hogs with 22 points. Standout freshman guard Darius Acuff Jr., who leads the SEC in points and assists, finished with 17 points and six assists.
Arkansas moves to 21-8 on the year and 11-5 in conference play.

Arkansas thrashes LSU; Acuff stays hot

Arkansas delivered a dominant performance on the road against LSU, cruising to a 91–62 victory in Baton Rouge. The Razorbacks jumped out quickly, building an early lead and never looked back, outscoring the Tigers in both halves. Freshman guard Darius Acuff Jr. was the standout, pouring in 28 points and continuing his strong scoring streak, while Meelek Thomas added 20 points to fuel Arkansas’ offensive balance. Arkansas led 42–27 at halftime and extended its advantage behind timely scoring and aggressive defense, ultimately pulling well ahead in the second half to secure a convincing win.

Arkansas’ efficiency on both ends of the court was clear as they shot well from the field and limited LSU’s opportunities, forcing turnovers and controlling the pace throughout. The victory improved the Razorbacks’ standing in SEC play and underscored their depth and scoring capability, with contributions across the roster complementing Acuff’s breakout effort. LSU struggled to keep pace and fell behind early, unable to overcome Arkansas’ fast start and consistently hit shots, leaving them with a lopsided loss on their home court.

Too many turnovers! Hogs fall short against Houston, look on to JMU

The Razorbacks committed 12 turnovers, which Houston converted into 19 points in the Hogs' 94-85 loss to the Cougars on Saturday.

However, coach John Calipari remains optimistic about the trajectory of his team.

The Razorbacks go on a short break before facing James Madison University after Christmas on Dec. 29.

The Razorbacks are 4-2 in their last six, with wins over ranked opponents Louisville and Texas Tech. Arkansas's only losses in that span were to Duke (then-ranked No. 4) and Houston, ranked eighth.

Take a listen to this week's Hog Central Podcast with KATV's Steve Sullivan and Arkansas Razorbacks' men's basketball analyst Matt Zimmerman.

New coach? New QB1? Razorbacks blown out by Arch Manning's Texas Longhorns

The Hogs were embarrassed on Saturday, suffering one of their worst losses of the season in a 52-37 loss to Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns.

Quarterback Taylen Green was benched by Bobby Petrino in the third quarter, with backup KJ Jackson coming into the game to pass for 206 yards and 1 touchdown. Who should start in the season finale vs. Missouri?

Is it also time for the Hogs to name their next head coach?

Arkansas hits new low after penalties cause seventh-straight loss

Arkansas dropped to 2-7 on the year after losing another one-score game, this time at home against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. This marks the Razorbacks' seventh-straight loss.

Penalties were the story of the day for the Hogs. The team committed 18 penalties for a total of 193 yards - almost equal to the 194 passing yards they threw for in the game.

Despite their putrid record, the Razorbacks have scored more points than they have given up this year (317 to 300). Do they have a case for being one of the best worst teams of all time?

Bitter-cold loss to Mizzou

The Razorback end the season 6-6 with a bowl game TBD. On this final football episode of the Hog Central Podcast, Steve Sullivan and David Bazzel look back on a season full of close games where the Razorbacks beat themselves with penalties and turnovers. Can the Hogs compete in the era of NIL? Did we expect too much from Talen Green? What does it mean that Bobby Petrino was job shopping?
The Hog Central podcast will take a brief hiatus, then we’ll be back with a special basketball edition on December 18th, and a return to weekly episodes in January.

Hogs are going bowling! But is the Mizzou game a trap?

The Razorbacks got it done against Louisiana Tech, making them officially bowl eligible. On this episode of the Hog Central Podcast, Steve Sullivan and David Bazzel talk about the final game of the season - the 23rd ranked Missouri Tigers. Baz tells Sully why he dreads going to Columbia, and his concerns for this season finale. Are Talen Green's legs the key to victory? Can Sam Pittman buy some job security by ending the season with a win? And in the era of the transfer portal and NIL, what will this team look like next year?

Turnovers & sacks lead to Razorback loss to Longhorns

Arkansas played well enough to stay in the game, but not well enough to overcome a top ten team like Texas. On this episode of the Hog Central Podcast, Steve Sullivan and David Bazzel ask the questions that are on everyone's mind: Why has Talen Green become ineffective as a dual-threat QB? Is Bobby Petrino making the right play calls? Why can't the O-line protect the QB? And what does it mean for the future of the Sam Pittman era?

Old Rivalry, New Era - Texas and Arkansas face-off for the first time as SEC opponents

It’s an epic rivalry that spans generations – Texas vs Arkansas! On this episode of the Hog Central Podcast, Steve Sullivan and David Bazzel preview the game we’ve been waiting for all season - The Hogs and the Horns on the Hill! The downside – a disappointing loss against Ole Miss. The upside –a bye week gives the Razorbacks an extra week to heal and prepare. Will that be enough to stop Sarkisian’s #3 ranked Longhorns? How does this game affect Sam Pittman’s future at Arkansas?

Hogs Humiliated by Ole Miss! Is it time for a change at the top?

The Razorbacks suffer a embarrassing defeat at the hands of Ole Miss Rebels, leaving them one game short of bowl eligibility with only three games to go. On this episode of the Hog Central Podcast, KATV Sports Director Steve Sullivan and former Razorbacks linebacker David Bazzel talk about what went so wrong, and if the Hogs can be ready for their biggest SEC challenge of the year, former SWC rival #5 Texas Longhorns. What happened to Travis Williams’ defense to allow 63 points!? With Sam Pittman now in the hot-seat, would a home loss to the Longhorns be the final straw? Is Bobby Petrino the heir apparent?

Hogs win SEC opener at Auburn & take momentum to Arlington for showdown with Texas A&M

The Razorbacks find a way to win their SEC opener at Auburn. On this episode of the Hog Central Podcast, Steve (Sully) Sullivan and David Bazzel talk about the improvements this team has made over last year, and look ahead to next week’s big showdown as Arkansas travels to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX to take on Jimbo Fisher’s Texas A&M Aggies. What could a win in “Jerry World” mean for momentum going into the rest of the season? Will the Aggies be able to stop Talen Green and his ability to pick up big 3rd down yardage? Have Sam Pittman and Bobby Petrino finally hit their stride?

Too close for comfort! Slow start in home opener against UAB! A must-win at Auburn.

On this episode of the Hog Central Podcast… lots of questions remain after the Razorbacks struggle with a slow start in their home opener against University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB). Will Bobby Petrino have to make a change after poor QB play from Taylen Green, and why hasn’t he used Luke Hasz more? Why did this win feel like a loss, and why weren’t the Hogs ready? Now, as Arkansas travels to Auburn to take on Hugh Freeze’s Tigers (a team with QB issues of their own) can the Razorbacks rise to the occasion in what Baz calls a “must-win” for Sam Pittman. Plus we’ll take a look around the SEC at some surprisingly close games for LSU and Georgia.
