      <title>The Corded Ware Culture | Prehistoric Europe Documentary (3000 BC - 2300 BC)</title>
<description>The Corded Ware culture existed between c. 3000 BC – c. 2300 BC, spanning the late Neolithic, through the Copper Age, and the early Bronze Age.The name Corded Ware comes from the cord-like impressions on their pottery. They encompassed a vast area, from the Rhine on the west to the Volga in the east, occupying parts of Northern Europe, Central Europe and Eastern Europe. They were descended from Western Steppe Herders populations (like the Yamnaya) who moved into Neolithic Europe and merged with the farming populations from the Globular Amphora culture and the Funnelbeaker culture. These people were, to one extent or another, ancestral to all northern European people from the Baltic to the Atlantic.*Support the Channel*Patreon ➜ https://www.patreon.com/dandavisauthorPayPal ➜ https://paypal.me/DanDavisAuthorKo-fi ➜ https://ko-fi.com/dandavis*My Books*Your FREE Bronze Age fantasy story the Wolf God ➜ http://dandavisauthor.com/Godborn: Gods of Bronze 1 ➜ https://amzn.to/3nm2au1All my books on Amazon ➜ https://amzn.to/3xngwz5*My Links*Website http://dandavisauthor.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dandavisauthor/Twitter: https://twitter.com/DanDavisWritesInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dandavisauthor/*Video Sources*The Horse, the Wheel, and Language - David Anthony ➜ https://amzn.to/3aD3RhuIn Search of the Indo-Europeans - JP Mallory ➜ https://amzn.to/3gX7dQpThe Oxford Introduction to Proto-Indo-European and the Proto-Indo-European World - JP Mallory ➜ https://amzn.to/3t8zqX2The First Farmers of Europe An Evolutionary Perspective - Stephen Shennan ➜ https://amzn.to/2SsqcbwSticks, Stones, and Broken Bones Neolithic Violence in a European Perspective - Rick J. <title>The Mysterious Giant Temples of Prehistoric Europe</title>
<description>Try your first Odoo app for free: https://www.odoo.com/r/DI9SFive thousand years ago, across the plains of modern Ukraine and Romania, the people of the Cucuteni–Trypillia culture built some of the largest settlements on Earth. For decades, these remarkable communities have been presented as egalitarian proto-cities without kings, palaces, or social hierarchy. But recent discoveries have revealed enormous megastructures whose purpose remains fiercely debated. Were they temples, assembly halls, elite residences, lineage houses, men's houses, or centres of governance? In this video, I explore the archaeology of the Trypillia megastructures and what they reveal about power, inequality, religion, and social organisation in prehistoric Europe.*If you enjoy my videos please consider supporting the channel*Become a YouTube Channel Member: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUVwT8zcS5Z_rYXnpomlbfg/joinSupport me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/dandavisauthorAll my books on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3xngwz5*Sources*The First Farmers of Europe https://amzn.to/3wNDcqAThe Oxford Handbook of Neolithic Europe https://amzn.to/43eSVROThe Lost World of Old Europe https://amzn.to/44YY7LN The Tripolye culture Giant Settlements of Ukraine https://amzn.to/4m2xEDb Maidanets-ke https://www.sidestone.com/books/maidanets-ke Tripolye Typo-chronology https://www.sidestone.com/books/tripolye-typo-chronologyThe Living Goddesses https://amzn.to/4fFaAYVThe rise and fall of the mysterious culture that invented civilisationhttps://www.newscientist.com/article/mg24933230-900-the-rise-and-fall-of-the-mysterious-culture-that-invented-civilisation/Who built Europe’s first cities? Scholars call it the earliest known depiction of the cosmos in the world. But who created this object? What astronomical knowledge does it encode? How was it used, why was it altered, and what does its final burial reveal about a culture in crisis? This is the story of the rise of a new religion and the collapse of a powerful society, the story of a Bronze Age masterpiece, the Nebra Sky Disc.*If you enjoy my videos please consider supporting the channel*Become a YouTube Channel Member: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUVwT8zcS5Z_rYXnpomlbfg/joinSupport me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/dandavisauthorAll my books on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3xngwz5*Sources*The Oxford Handbook of the European Bronze Age: https://amzn.to/3ZXIGh0Trade before Civilization https://amzn.to/4pMC6az The Rise of Bronze Age Society https://amzn.to/4pcEWFS Organizing Bronze Age Societies https://amzn.to/4pIpgtQ Dieck, S., Michael, O., Wilke, M. et al. <title>St George: the Indo-European Dragonslayer</title>
<description>Saint George was a Christian Greek soldier of the Roman Empire, from Cappadocia or perhaps Syria who was martyred for refusing to sacrifice to the Roman gods.He was a heroic figure to people right across Christendom and one who was particularly attractive to soldiers because he had been one himself. The serpent as a symbol in stories and art represents the external, the other, the great enemy, the demons, the evil that wants nothing but to destroy us.And the dragon-slayer therefore represents order, stability, continuity. He is the strong arm of the mighty that keeps chaos at bay.*Support the Channel*Patreon ➜ https://www.patreon.com/dandavisauthorPayPal ➜ https://paypal.me/DanDavisAuthorKo-fi ➜ https://ko-fi.com/dandavis*My Books*Your FREE Bronze Age fantasy story the Wolf God ➜ http://dandavisauthor.com/The Immortal Knight Chronicles: US ➜ https://amzn.to/3xXsDClUK ➜ https://amzn.to/3h8GrDkAll my books on Amazon:US ➜ https://amzn.to/3xngwz5UK ➜ https://amzn.to/3aEXDOk*My Links*Website http://dandavisauthor.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dandavisauthor/Twitter: https://twitter.com/DanDavisWritesInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dandavisauthor/*Sources*How to Kill a Dragon: Aspects of Indo-European Poetics - Calvert Watkins: https://amzn.to/3yeyXXeMyth, Ritual, and the Warrior in Roman and Indo-European Antiquity - Roger D. <title>Who Were Britain’s First People? The Story of Mesolithic Britain and Ireland</title>
<description>MyHeritage is running a special promotion for a limited time! Click the link https://bit.ly/DanDavis_MH or scan the QR code, and use the coupon code DD19 to get your DNA kit for just $19!10,000 years ago, Mesolithic hunter-gatherers lived across Britain and Ireland, connected to Europe through the lost landscape of Doggerland before it was lost beneath the sea. In this video I tell you about their lives, tools, movement, and beliefs, from seasonal camps to complex burials. Using ancient DNA, including the famous Cheddar Man, we examine the genetics of WHG (Western Hunter-Gatherers) and what it reveals about their appearance and origins. Far from being simple or static, these people shaped their environments. This is the epic story of the Mesolithic hunter-gatherers of Britain and Ireland.*If you enjoy my videos please consider supporting the channel*Become a YouTube Channel Member: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUVwT8zcS5Z_rYXnpomlbfg/joinSupport me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/dandavisauthorAll my books on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3xngwz5Thank you to Ancient Europeans for his artwork https://www.instagram.com/ancienteuropeans2/*Sources*The Oxford Handbook of Mesolithic Europe https://amzn.to/3OmI7xI The Mesolithic in Britain https://amzn.to/41CAtCs Star Carr Volume 1 and 2 https://universitypress.whiterose.ac.uk/books/e/10.22599/book1 Lazaridis, I., Patterson, N., Mittnik, A. et al. <description>Try your first Odoo app for free: https://www.odoo.com/r/QbkCatalhöyük was founded in around 7000 BC in central Anatolia. This ancient Neolithic site transformed our understanding of the first settlements in prehistory. The tightly packed houses, burials beneath house floors, and the striking wall art and incredible figurines astonished the world. Archeologists believe this was an egalitarian and even matrilineal society. Drawing on archaeology and ancient DNA, this film charts how this remarkable community rose, adapted to climate and social change, and ultimately came to an end.*If you enjoy my videos please consider supporting the channel*Become a YouTube Channel Member: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUVwT8zcS5Z_rYXnpomlbfg/joinSupport me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/dandavisauthorAll my books on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3xngwz5*Sources*The Matter of Çatalhöyük https://amzn.to/3NqzGk2 Peopling the Landscape of Çatalhöyük https://amzn.to/3Njo2rh Religion in the Emergence of Civilization: Çatalhöyük https://amzn.to/4qZgKY0 Çatalhöyük: The Leopard's Tale https://amzn.to/4qstqH3 Violence and the Sacred in the Ancient Near East https://amzn.to/3NnfXSp Religion at Work in a Neolithic Society https://amzn.to/4pRcHw1 Eren Yüncü et al. ,Female lineages and changing kinship patterns in Neolithic Çatalhöyük. <title>Europe's Last Hunter-Gatherers | Pitted Ware Culture</title>
<description>Existing from about 3500 BC to 2300 BC this was a hunter-gatherer-fisher culture of southern Scandinavia, thriving along the coasts of Sweden, the Danish Islands, Jutland, and a bit of Norway. The Pitted Ware people were maritime hunters who lived separately to the Neolithic farmers who dwelled inland in the same regions. They were a genetically homogeneous and distinct population descended from earlier Mesolithic Scandinavian Hunter-Gatherers.So what happened to the last hunter-gatherers of Europe?(The Pitted Ware culture appear in my novel Thunderer: Gods of Bronze 2. <title>The Yamnaya Culture | Bronze Age Steppe Herders</title>
<description>The Yamnaya culture was a Copper Age to early Bronze Age archaeological culture of the Pontic steppe (north of the Black Sea) dating to 3300–2600 BC. Its name derives from its characteristic burial tradition: yamnaya is a Russian adjective that means 'related to pits', and these people used to bury their dead in tumuli (the famous kurgans - which we call barrows or burial mounds in Britain) containing simple pit chambers beneath the mounds. In life they practiced transhumance, a type of pastoralism or nomadism where they spent winters in wooded river valleys and summers out on the grasslands with their herds. The Yamnaya culture is identified with the late Proto-Indo-Europeans, and is the strongest candidate for the original homeland of the Proto-Indo-European language (of which English is just one of many descendants). They possibly invented the wheel, they were the first (or almost) to domesticate and ride horses, and they invented 4-wheeled, ox-drawn axeled wagons that enabled them to drive herds of cattle across the steppes and carry enough water and shelter with them to do so.--- Support the Channel ---Patreon ➜ https://www.patreon.com/dandavisauthorPayPal ➜ https://paypal.me/DanDavisAuthorKo-fi ➜ https://ko-fi.com/dandavis--- My Books ---Godborn: Gods of Bronze 1 ➜ https://amzn.to/3nm2au1All my books on Amazon ➜ https://amzn.to/3xngwz5Your FREE Bronze Age fantasy story the Wolf God ➜ http://dandavisauthor.com/--- My Links ---Website ➜ http://dandavisauthor.com/Facebook ➜ https://www.facebook.com/dandavisauthor/Twitter ➜ https://twitter.com/DanDavisWritesInstagram ➜ https://www.instagram.com/dandavisauthor/--- Video Sources ---The Horse, the Wheel, and Language - David Anthony ➜ https://amzn.to/3aD3RhuIn Search of the Indo-Europeans - JP Mallory ➜ https://amzn.to/3gX7dQpThe Oxford Introduction to Proto-Indo-European and the Proto-Indo-European World - JP Mallory ➜ https://amzn.to/3t8zqX2**The above links include affiliate links which means we will earn a small commission from your purchases at no additional cost to you which is a way to support the channel.**--- People of the Bronze Age series ---People of the Bronze Age Playlist ➜ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GalZLoTeU74&amp;list=PLUyGT3KDxwC8u4jG_tOjN-8-bsHxucUxnYamnaya ➜ https://youtu.be/GalZLoTeU74Corded Ware ➜ https://youtu.be/ecmeQT7R7rkFunnelbeaker ➜ https://youtu.be/iJYvhf0VVi0Pitted Ware ➜ https://youtu.be/_rspqObP2ygCucuteni-Trypilla ➜ https://youtu.be/Bk2Qbf1YQbIMaykop ➜ https://youtu.be/eyc9jxTPZ_U</description>

<itunes:summary>The Yamnaya culture was a Copper Age to early Bronze Age archaeological culture of the Pontic steppe (north of the Black Sea) dating to 3300–2600 BC. They possibly invented the wheel, they were the first (or almost) to domesticate and ride horses, and they invented 4-wheeled, ox-drawn axeled wagons that enabled them to drive herds of cattle across the steppes and carry enough water and shelter with them to do so.--- Support the Channel ---Patreon ➜ https://www.patreon.com/dandavisauthorPayPal ➜ https://paypal.me/DanDavisAuthorKo-fi ➜ https://ko-fi.com/dandavis--- My Books ---Godborn: Gods of Bronze 1 ➜ https://amzn.to/3nm2au1All my books on Amazon ➜ https://amzn.to/3xngwz5Your FREE Bronze Age fantasy story the Wolf God ➜ http://dandavisauthor.com/--- My Links ---Website ➜ http://dandavisauthor.com/Facebook ➜ https://www.facebook.com/dandavisauthor/Twitter ➜ https://twitter.com/DanDavisWritesInstagram ➜ https://www.instagram.com/dandavisauthor/--- Video Sources ---The Horse, the Wheel, and Language - David Anthony ➜ https://amzn.to/3aD3RhuIn Search of the Indo-Europeans - JP Mallory ➜ https://amzn.to/3gX7dQpThe Oxford Introduction to Proto-Indo-European and the Proto-Indo-European World - JP Mallory ➜ https://amzn.to/3t8zqX2**The above links include affiliate links which means we will earn a small commission from your purchases at no additional cost to you which is a way to support the channel.**--- People of the Bronze Age series ---People of the Bronze Age Playlist ➜ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GalZLoTeU74&amp;list=PLUyGT3KDxwC8u4jG_tOjN-8-bsHxucUxnYamnaya ➜ https://youtu.be/GalZLoTeU74Corded Ware ➜ https://youtu.be/ecmeQT7R7rkFunnelbeaker ➜ https://youtu.be/iJYvhf0VVi0Pitted Ware ➜ https://youtu.be/_rspqObP2ygCucuteni-Trypilla ➜ https://youtu.be/Bk2Qbf1YQbIMaykop ➜ https://youtu.be/eyc9jxTPZ_U</itunes:summary>

<title>The Funnelbeaker Culture | Neolithic Farmers of Northern Europe</title>
<description>The Funnelbeaker culture appear in my novel Thunderer: Gods of Bronze 2. In the story they're called the Furun but what were the real historical people like?(Get your free copy of the Bronze Age fantasy story Wolf God here: http://dandavisauthor.com/ ) This video series is called People of the Bronze Age so I should say before we get started that the Funnelbeaker were a Neolithic people but the end of their culture, which is when Thunderer takes place, coincides with the coming of the Bronze Age. European farmers reached the southern edge of the North European Plain, not far south of the Baltic coast, before 5000 BC but didn't reach northern Germany and southern Scandinavia until 1000 years later. So for a thousand years there was some interaction with groups of the Late Mesolithic Ertebølle Culture - a hunter gatherer people in this region during the 5th millennium BC which is shown by traded stone axes and other artefacts. Once it was thought that these northern hunter gathers gradually adopted farming over that thousand years but thanks to DNA analysis we know that's not the case. *Support the Channel*Patreon ➜ https://www.patreon.com/dandavisauthorPayPal ➜ https://paypal.me/DanDavisAuthorKo-fi ➜ https://ko-fi.com/dandavis*My Books*Your FREE Bronze Age fantasy story the Wolf God ➜ http://dandavisauthor.com/Godborn: Gods of Bronze 1 ➜ https://amzn.to/3nm2au1All my books on Amazon ➜ https://amzn.to/3xngwz5*My Links*Website http://dandavisauthor.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dandavisauthor/Twitter: https://twitter.com/DanDavisWritesInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dandavisauthor/*Video Sources*The Horse, the Wheel, and Language - David Anthony ➜ https://amzn.to/3aD3RhuThe First Farmers of Europe An Evolutionary Perspective - Stephen Shennan ➜ https://amzn.to/2SsqcbwSticks, Stones, and Broken Bones Neolithic Violence in a European Perspective - Rick J.
