<title>Ep60 - BPN LIVE: CATS Casts Reunion: "BROADWAY REBORN"</title>
      <link>https://broadwaypodcastnetwork.com/podcast/the-wrong-cat-died/</link>
<description>Nearly 35 years after their first performance, the National 3 cast of the landmark international musical sensation by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS, reunited for a very special virtual theatrical event, WITH LOVE, NOW AND FOREVER! CATS4COVIDRELIEF, a fundraiser for the Broadway Cares Covid-19 Emergency Assistance Fund, which supports The Actors Fund.
Now, one year later they are reunited, once again, to celebrate the reopening of the theatre industry in “BROADWAY REBORN, WITH LOVE NOW AND FOREVER, A Celebratory Welcome Back!”
Partnering with The Broadway Podcast Network’s, “The Wrong Cat Died” podcast hosted by Mike Abrams this live, in person, one-night-only special event will feature original broadway, national, and international companies cast members, Deborah Geneviere Athens, Joanna Beck, Anthony Vincent Bova, Jonathan S. Cerullo, Adrea Gibbs, Austin Jetton, Christine Toy Johnson, Kari Nicolaisen, Amiee Turner, and James Walski, in a lively conversation with their unique perspective on the landmark musical and the celebration of Broadway reopening! In addition they will rebroadcast their inspired celebration of the opening number, “Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats,” a unique rendition of “The Naming of Cats”, a tribute to T.S. Eliot. Rounding out the evening will be a thought provoking conversation on the role of Grizabella whose off the chart, now classic song recognized by Billboard's Top-10 most recorded musical theatre songs, “Memory”, with those who played the infamous “Glamour Cat”, Heidi Stallings, Lyn MacDonald-Sigman, and Grammy Award-winner Leslie Ellis.
Thanks to Melanie Goerlitz for being our opening segment glamour cat!

<title>BroadwayCon 2020: The Ensemblist #259 - My Show Closed (feat. Tracee Beazer, Afra Hines, Kelvin Moon Loh, Barrett Martin, Bret Shuford)</title>
      <link>https://broadwaypodcastnetwork.com/podcast/the-ensemblist/</link>
<description>Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to bring together five of the most experienced and storied ensemble actors working on Broadway today before a live audience at BroadwayCon. We talked about the shows they originated and the characters they’ve created, but also the disappointments they’ve felt when a show closed. While actors Tracee Beazer, Afra Hines, Kelvin Moon Loh, Barrett Martin and Bret Shuford have each influenced the legacy of musical theatre, they’ve also been a part of shows that just didn’t gain traction with Broadway audiences. I figured with their experience, they must have some perspective about how to handle the disappointment of being in a Broadway flop. Here’s our conversation…

      <title>BroadwayCon 2020: Page to Stage 23 - Eliza Ohman, Performer/Choreographer</title>
      <link>https://www.bpn.fm/pagetostage</link>
<description>Thank you for listening to this episode. We hope you enjoy it!

A note about this week's episode: This is a recorded conversation from Broadway Podcast Network HQ at BroadwayCon 2020. Stay tuned for Part 2 of this conversation where we'll talk about her role as Associate Choreographer for the Broadway production of SIX.

Eliza Ohman is a New York City based performer and the US Associate Choreographer for SIX: The Musical. Most recently seen in the Chita Rivera Award winning Original Broadway Company of King Kong and previously Dance Captain and Universal Swing in Hamilton: An American Musical on Broadway, she had the great privilege of working closely with the original creative team and assisted in setting Hamilton’s 2nd National Tour. As Dance Captain she taught new company members the show, ran rehearsals for the offstage company, and assisted in the auditions for all four North American productions.
Eliza began dancing at the age of 3 in her home state of Colorado. She trained at a local studio and toured nationally with Prof. Robert L. Reed’s tap company the St. Louis Hoofers Club. After high school she moved to New York City where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Media, Culture, and the Arts from The King’s College and received further training from the Professional Semester Program at Broadway Dance Center. Through BDC’s program she gained representation from Clear Talent Group and booked her first NYC job in the Ensemble of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
In addition to theatre, Eliza also works commercially. Some career favorites include the Emmy award winning Fosse/Verdon (FX), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon), Saturday Night Live (NBC), Dispatches from Elsewhere (AMC), America’s Got Talent (NBC), Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO), and more! She’s danced in a number of music videos, one of her favorites being Carly Rae Jepsen’s “I Really Like You”—a day where she spent the morning teaching Carly Rae, Tom Hanks, and Justin Bieber the choreography, and the afternoon filming outside in New York City on the coldest recorded day of 2016.
Through all these experiences, Eliza has developed close relationships with award winning director/choreographers such as Andy Blankenbuehler, Thomas Kail, Marguerite Derricks, Kat Burns, Linda Haberman, Denis Jones, Noemie Lafrance, Susan Misner, and Drew McOnie. These experiences encourage Eliza to remain as diverse as possible in both her training and teaching. She’s an enthusiastic teacher who focuses on the importance of storytelling through dance. She’s taught at studios/programs around the country, but most recently at Broadway Dance Center, Marymount Manhattan College, and is a guest faculty member for Intrigue Dance Intensive.
Always looking to grow as an artist, Eliza continues to train, teach, and perform in New York. Instagram - @elizaohman.

      <title>BroadwayCon 2020: Deep Dive Broadway #9 - Come From Away</title>
      <link>https://BroadwayPodcastNetwork.com/DeepDiveBroadway</link>
      <description>Welcome to the Rock!
Live from BroadwayCon we ‘Deep Dive’ with the creators, director, choreographer and several original actors from the hit musical COME FROM AWAY.
How did this incredibly moving, universal story of hope, generosity and compassion come to life? Creators Irene Sankoff and David Hein, Director Christopher Ashley, Choreographer Kelly Devine and original Broadway cast members Joel Hatch and Astrid Van Wieren, share their process of creation from day one.
During these challenging times, this remarkable story of human kindness…of ordinary people being extraordinary…could not be more timely.

      <link>https://broadwaypodcastnetwork.com/podcast/breaking-broadway/</link>
      <description>Recorded LIVE at BroadwayCon 2020
Find singing jobs while you wait for your broadway break; or create your own door to broadway through cabaret and concert work.  Sierra is such a positive force in this world! The topic is concert work, but we really discuss finding your purpose, and living the life you were meant to live. She speaks my language, I loved having her as a guest!

<title>BroadwayCon 2020: West of Broadway: Young Actor, Jacob Laval and Alan Seales from BPN</title>
      <link>https://broadwaypodcastnetwork.com/podcast/west-of-broadway/</link>
<description>It’s curtains up on another episode of West of Broadway. I’m Broadway Veteran Will Armstrong and this is a continuation of our Broadway Con Series. That’s right, the West of Broadway crew went all the way to NYC for the 5th annual Broadway Con. We met celebrities, broadway fanatics and some innovators really changing the way broadway fans connect with their favorite shows and personalities.
While walking the Marketplace floor, we ran into someone I just had to interview. Maybe you’ve seen the Netflix special John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch? If not, put it on your must watch list because it’s fantastic. The show features the comedy of John Mulaney and some amazing guest cameos from comedian Richard Kind to The Talking Head's David Byrne, actor Jake Gyllenhaal and the iconic Annaleigh Ashford! The show also features a cast of incredibly talented kids. One of the stands outs is a young man named Jacob Laval and he was walking the Marketplace floor with his mom and his sister and I just had to interview him. …
John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch now streaming on Netflix and be sure to catch him on HBO’s the Plot Against America and since we recorded this interview he filmed several other segments for Sesame Street!  I think the world of this kid and I’m excited to see what he accomplishes. You can keep up with Jacob on Instagram : @jacobLaval
Broadway Con was so much fun and I got to see and speak with so many incredible people. Someone I was particularly excited to talk to is a fellow theater podcaster who is not only creating fantastic content himself but he’s leading the way for other theater podcasters and providing a platform for creators to host, and share their content in one perfect place. Alan Seales is the co-founder of The Broadway Podcast Network, a one stop shop for all your favorite musical theater themed podcasts.
It was such a pleasure to meet and speak with Alan Seales. I encourage you all to check out his show “ The Theater Podcast with Alan Seales and all the programing available on BroadwayPodcastNetwork.com.
And, here’s an exciting update. Since this episode was recorded, West of Broadway has joined the family of programing at Broadway Podcast Network so I encourage you to find us on their site along with a slew of entertaining and unique podcasts for theater fan.
That brings us to the end of the show. Thank you so much for listening! Special thanks to Broadway Con, Jacob Laval and Alan Seales. Like I said, you can find past and future episodes of West of Broadway on BroadwayPodcastNetwork.com and you can find me on social @WillArmstronpr across all platforms and coming up very soon, we’ll be announcing our new co-host and a ton of new and exciting interviews on the show.
So until next time be well and if you’re looking for us, you can find us Just west of broadway.

<title>Josh Swallows Broadway #13 - Jessica Vosk, back to the NJ balloon festival</title>
      <link>http://broadwaypodcastnetwork.com/jsb</link>
<description>In partnership with TodayTix, Jessica Vosk was part of our first-ever live event held at WeWork in the Flatiron district held on Nov 14, 2019. According to Josh, she's the second coming. She literally went from a finance job on Wall Street to Broadway, with a little bit of a NJ balloon festival in there somewhere.
Vosk may be best known for her performance as the lead role of Elphaba in Wicked, which she recently finished playing on Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre. She was Elphaba for Wicked's 15th Anniversary. She made her Broadway debut in The Bridges of Madison County, then went on to roles in Finding Neverland and Fiddler on the Roof (in which she famously says she played "Dead Elphaba"). She most recently performed with Kristin Chenoweth in her show Kristin Chenoweth: For the Girls, as well as her own solo album. More info via http://jessicavosk.com/recordings.

This episode also features Samara Ariel Ehrlich, NYC's foremost Moana impersonator (who we first heard in episode 4) giving a special live-only introduction.
