      <title> International Women’s Day: Women Driving Change</title>
<description>In this special on-location episode of the Blooming North Podcast, host Lisa records live from Goodison Park, home of Everton Women, to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Joined by Dawn Paine, former CMO of Nintendo and Universal Pictures and Co-Founder of Aurora, and Sue Gregory, CEO of Everton in the Community, the conversation explores what modern leadership really looks like. Together they discuss the lessons learned from leading at the highest levels, the difference between experience and wisdom, and the leadership traits that truly make an impact  beyond outdated ideas of “masculine” and “feminine” styles.

From the power of place and Northern identity to the role of sport in driving real social change, this episode reflects on the influence of women who are shaping organisations, communities, and the future of leadership.

Recorded at a special International Women’s Day event hosted by WACL (Women in Advertising, Communications and Leadership), this conversation celebrates the pioneers and trailblazers creating meaningful change  and asks what female leadership might look like in the next decade.

If you’re passionate about leadership, impact, and empowering women to thrive both personally and professionally, this episode is for you.

<title>From Boys to Men: Redefining Masculinity Together</title>
<description>What does healthy masculinity actually look like today - and why does it start much earlier than we think?

In this episode of The Blooming North Podcast, Lisa is joined by Mike Nicholson, Director of Progressive Masculinity, and Seb Randle, Founder of The Helpful Space, to unpack one of the most talked-about (and often misunderstood) topics of our time: boys, men, and the future of allyship.

From classrooms to workplaces, friendships to relationships, we explore how ideas of masculinity are formed, challenged, and reshaped - and what happens when boys and men aren’t given the tools to express themselves emotionally, connect deeply, or show up as allies without fear or defensiveness.

 Together, we discuss:

What’s really happening with boys in schools right now

How masculinity norms show up later in adult life and the workplace

What toxic, positive, and progressive masculinity actually mean

Why emotional literacy is a game-changer for men and boys

How men and women can support each other without emotional burnout

What gives us hope for the next generation of men

This is an honest, practical and light-hearted conversation - full of insight, personal stories, and real-world examples - for parents, educators, leaders, partners, and anyone who wants to be part of healthier, more inclusive change.

✨ Because there aren’t just “one or two” ways to be a man - there are billions.

This episode is sponsored by MiQThe leading AI-powered advertising tech trained on the most connected data set in the world. MiQ leverages 700 trillion signals revealing what people are watching, browsing, and buying - helping brands connect in smarter, more meaningful ways.

      <title>From The Ground Up</title>
<description>This Week Dr Sally Alwan joins Lisa to share her inspiring story of building her life from the Ground Up.   She was born in Iraq before her parents gave up their lives to move to the UK to complete their PHDs on a funded program. Due to the gulf war, their funding was pulled, and they went into survival mode. Listen as Sally talks about resilience, growing up as a cultural minority and how she beat the odds of being successful when the odds were stacked against her. Honest, inspiring and eye opening, this is a story of creativity and determination.

Due to the gulf war, their funding was pulled, and they went into survival mode. Listen as Sally talks about resilience, growing up as a cultural minority and how she beat the odds of being successful when the odds were stacked against her. <title>Moving On! </title>
<description>This is a special episode of the Blooming North podcast. Joining Lisa in the studio are some of Manchester's favourite presenters. Until recently they were waking you up, or getting you home on the formidable Capital FM breakfast and drivetime shows.  It’s none other than Rachel Burke-Davis and Wingman!!!  Do you want to know what happens next?

We all experience change and yes shit happens – but their ‘shit happens’ moment was monumental!! How did they get through it and why are they still smiling?

Plus there’s a special announcement in this podcast!! If you don’t already know Rob Rach and wingman are up to something and they reveal all in this podcast.

Instagram:Follow the team on what they do next.

      <title>Resilience</title>
<description>In this episode, sponsored by our friends at Spotify, we're talking Resilience. Joining Lisa to discuss this subject is Stacey Copeland, a trailblazer in British sport. Stacey was a professional football player and played in the FA cup final before moving into professional boxing winning silver in the European Championships and gold at
the prestigious Balkans tournament. If that wasn't enough she then made history as the first British woman to win a Commonwealth boxing title. Stacey now spends time commentating
for the BBC whilst running her company ‘Pave the Way’ dedicated to promoting gender equality in sport and challenging stereotypes.

Stacey is the perfect guest for this podcast, not only because boxing is one of the toughest sports there is out there but also outside the boxing ring Lisa discusses with Stacey change, set backs and transitions and finds out how she has cultivated a resilient mindset throughout her career.

<title>EP19: Creating Mentally Healthy Homes &amp; Work Environments</title>
<description>Joining Lisa this episode is Holly Clark and Carolyn Tipper to share their expertise on how to support better mental health for you and your colleagues, family and friends.

Holly is a Mental Health First Aid &amp; Suicide First Aid Instructor Member from the organisation Blooming Mind. She works with companies to improve the mental health of their teams to end stigma surrounding it and recently ran a workshop for Bloom North supporting parents in creating Mentally Healthy Homes.

Carolyn is an Executive Coach, enabling leaders to overcome organisational and personal challenges through transformational coaching. Mental health affects us all so this is an episode not to be missed.

Holly and Carolyn discuss the evolution of conversations around mental health, how working remotely has increased the importance of having a mentally healthy home environment as well as workplace. With the workplace we discuss how leaders can model good practices and offer support without overstepping boundaries and the balance between productivity goals and mental health wellbeing.

From a personal point of view we discuss how to advocate for yourself or others, some routines and decompression that could support your own mental health, and also recommend resources to find out more about this crucial topic.

They delve into topics including working with different personality types both as a colleague and in a leadership role, what authenticity means to them and are we still being authentic if we choose not to bring some of ourselves to the table in every situation?  Don’t miss this fascinating discussion between 3 individuals who are passionate about creating spaces in their communities for people to feel they can be their authentic selves.

      <title>EP9: Embracing Your Brilliance</title>
<description>Join Stefanie Sword William - founder and author of 'F*ck Being Humble', and Lisa Hughes - founder of Lisa Hughes Coaching, as they share some actionable advice on how you can level up.
Self promotion can be challenging, but Lisa and Stef join us to share some fantastic tangible suggestions.
We discuss understanding what’s important to you through figuring how exactly what you ‘need’ rather than what you 'want' - and a key to this is addressing negative self-talk, which is vital when addressing those subjects many us find awkward like pay rises and promotions.
We also cover overcoming fear and the fantastic results that being courageous can lead to. Stef and Lisa share their own personal experiencesa and wealth of knowledge on these topics and many more.
This is the perfect podcast to start your 2024 feeling inspired, motivated and confident!

      <title>EP8: Bloom For All – Diversity, Equity &amp; Inclusion</title>
<description>Think you know about Diversity, Equity &amp; Inclusion (DE&amp;I) or maybe you find it all a bit overwhelming? The landscape of DE&amp;I is ever evolving and it’s hard to know where to start or why you should be invested.

In this episode we focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - with all three being closely linked values which are held by many organisations that are working to be supportive of different groups of individuals. It’s an increasingly important topic and is being spoken about more often which is really important!

At Bloom North, we are proud to have a DE&amp;I committee who have embarked on a learning journey over the past year, and they shared a lot of the learnings around allyship, personal privilege and unconscious bias with a group of us at a recent event in Manchester.

In this podcast we delve even further into the subject, where Rachael is joined by Naomi Chapman, Client Partner at Spotify and member of Bloom’s DE&amp;I committee and Eduardo Diaz-Ward, who flies the flag for DE&amp;I within his organisation and our podcast sponsor - Channel Factory - where he works as their Sales Director.
Find out more about Channel Factory on our Conscious Project  page!
Eduardo and Naomi talked to us about being brave, going above and beyond the rainbow, and how you can begin having the conversations that need happen in order to start seeing change.
