Henry County Commissioners are about to consider approval of a data center at the Knightstown interchange. Will this be the major project that Henry County says “Yes” to? We recap the crazy two years that Rob Kendall has had, getting Micah Beckwith elected Lieutenant Governor of Indiana, being very involved with the changes to the property tax system in the state, and the fallout when they passed a bill that nobody was happy with. We give him all the credit or the blame for where we are today.

Now there is a redistricting fight and Governor Braun and Beckwith are feuding with the State Senate, including Jean Leising, who represented Henry County for a decade, and still has Rushville. Betsy Mills says she is going to get Congressman Shreve booked on the program. We are getting ready for Thanksgiving. The Trump Administration has been trying to redistrict congressional seats across the country. This week they lost a court case in Texas and potentially they are going to lose 5 seats in their quest to keep the House of Representatives. This has put even more pressure on the push for Indiana to take up mid cycle redistricting. Governor Braun has called a special session, but the Senate is refusing to take the issue up. President Trump has started singling out members who are not on “his side” and some of them have been victims of harassment and “Swatting”. The Indiana State Police are now investigating.

Locally, the Henry County Planning commission has approved the Knightstown Data Center and the City of New Castle has passed an RV parking ordinance that might be more aggressive than intended.

Tom was involved in two redistricting processes in his more than 20 years in the General Assembly. Former Governor Daniels has come out asking Indiana to not redistrict. Multiple visits by Vice President Vance, and a trip to Washington for most of the GOP members have put immense pressure on the members.

Tom has been working with Paul Landis, the last surviving Secret Service officer from Dallas during the JFK assassination. We hear stories from the book tour. Finally, we discuss the recent demolition of the East Wing of the White House and the new Ballroom that President Trump is erecting in its place. Tom reminds us that when he visited President Nixon, he entered through the East Wing.

Earlier this spring the city borrowed a little over 3 million dollars to meet immediate expenses.

The other big story is from Clark County Indiana, where there very politically connected former Sheriff has been jailed, and is awaiting trial for multiple felonies. In addition to the 50 years in business, Rex found himself involved in Libertarian Politics and as an author. Rex won over 20 percent of the vote in a 3 candidate race for State Representative, gaining the highest vote percentage for a third party candidate in 100 years. He won precincts as a candidate for State Rep, Congress, and even in his 2016 run for Governor. All kinds of great stories along the way!

McCormick’s Creek State Park took an F3 tornado directly into the campground, killing two campers, and shutting the park down indefinitely. We discuss the personal responsibility vs DNR responsibility for warning, safety, and general tree maintenance. As there have been reports of other dead trees falling and damaging campers in parks.

The second half of the show is around tax season. Property tax bills hit mailboxes, and there is some sticker shock. We try to talk our way through how it happened and what taxpayers can do about it. Additionally, there is a pending shortfall in 911 funding, and potentially a new income tax coming along to pay for it. Jeremiah wants to know what happens to the 911 tax money that everyone already pays?

Anticipation is building for the biggest gathering of humans in one place since the pandemic began. Masks are “required” but most folks are only wearing them when walking around. Some drivers have been critical of the continued expectation of face coverings, with the CDC relaxing standards.

There was controversy around qualifying procedure, Scott Dixon starts from the pole for the fourth time. Race traditions are slightly modified for everyone going into a reduced capacity race, but everyone is optimistic! Take advantage of the favorite and sleeper picks, and take them to the betting window!

Local governments are getting millions of dollars in COVID cash. Henry County Indiana is expecting over 9 million, the City of New Castle is expecting 3 million plus. Local communities have until 2024 to spend the funds….We talk through if this should exist at all, what possible uses there are, and what other areas are doing. North Carolina is going to spend 30 million dollars of their windfall on Stock Car Racing tracks.

The 2022 election season has begun with Jason Williams indicating a bid for Sheriff. Dakota is excited about new food options in town (Domino’s Pizza and Culvers). Jeremiah might have saved and killed a bunny at the same time....He needs a ruling.
