      <title>Baylor Football Spring Game 2023 Edition</title>
<description>Baylor football played their 2023 spring game a couple of Saturdays ago. Dave Aranda switched up the format for this year's version of the game, going with an offense vs defense matchup instead of splitting the roster up into two even teams. In this matchup which featured a unique scoring format, such as 2 points for offensive plays of 20+ yards and 3 points for a defensive 4th down stop, the offense topped the defense by a score of 38-27.
Much of the offense's success in the spring game came through the running backs and the tight ends. Those are two areas where the Bears seem to have a lot of depth this year. To hear about which RBs and TEs to keep an eye on in the fall, as well as how the rest of the team looked and how returning quarterback Blake Shapen compared with transfer quarterback Sawyer Robertson, tune in to this episode of the BearsIllustrated Podcast.

      <title>Baylor March Madness Preview</title>
<description>As Baylor basketball gears up for the NCAA Tournament as the 3-seed in the South Region, we preview their path to another Final Four. It starts with their a first-round matchup against 14-seed UC Santa Barbara which would be followed up in a Round-of-32 matchup by the winner of 6-seed Creighton and 11-seed NC State. The top two seeds in the South region are No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Arizona.
The Baylor women's basketball team also will begin their NCAA tournament play this weekend, the Lady Bears' 19th straight appearance. The women earned a 7 seed this year, lower than usual. They will play 10-seed Alabama in the first round of the Seattle Regional, and would likely face off against 2-seed UConn if they were to make it to the Round of 32.

<title>Baylor Basketball Bounced in Big 12 Quarterfinals by Iowa State</title>
<description>On Thursday afternoon, Baylor basketball was knocked out of the Big 12 tournament in the quarterfinals by Iowa State, the third time Baylor has fallen to the Cyclones this season, each loss coming in convincing fashion. The Bears have won just one Big 12 tournament since 2017. Jalen Bridges put up a terrific offensive performance, scoring 28 points including seven made three-points. But the rest of the offense couldn't muster much up. And Baylor's defense didn't fare much better, allowing Iowa State to grab 20 offensive rebounds.
So what is next for Baylor? Can they still make a deep run in the NCAA tournament, or is the slow finish to the season a bad sign of the Bears' March Madness hopes? What does Baylor need to improve and who are the teams we would and would not like to see in potential second weekend matchups? We discuss those questions and more.

<title>Baylor Poised to Make March Madness Run</title>
<description>As No. 7 Baylor basketball finishes up its regular season, we take a look at how well-positioned they are to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament. Baylor knocked off No. 9 Texas on Saturday and beat Oklahoma State on the road on Monday, both largely without superstar freshman Keyonte George. In George's absence, backup point guard Dale Bonner came through big.
We also touch on the Baylor women's basketball team. Specifically, how far do the Lady Bears have to go in the NCAA Tournament to make up for a lackluster, up-and-down regular season, a season where they failed to win the Big 12 regular season title for the first time in 14 years?

<title>Baylor Basketball Falls Twice in Kansas</title>
<description>Here we are Baylor fans, just three games left before the end of the basketball regular season and we enter into March. For Scott Drew and the Bears, they have to be thankful that they are no longer in Kansas, but the road does not get any easier with the Longhorns coming to Waco.

On this episode of the Bears Illustrated Podcast, we discuss how we feel about Baylor hoops after two disastrous second halves against both Kansas and Kansas State. We debate to see which one was worse: a 55-point allowance to the Jayhawks or a 44-point allowance to the Wildcats.

<title>Baylor Basketball Stands Atop the Big 12!</title>
<description>Baylor basketball has reeled off 4 straight wins to step into a tie for first place in the Big 12 with Kansas and Texas, with five games remaining on the schedule. The Bears next three games will have massive Big 12 title implications, starting with Saturday's thrilling matchup in Lawrence, as Baylor takes on the No. 5 Kansas Jayhawks with ESPN's College Gameday in town. That will be followed by a game at No. 12 Kansas State to finish the Sunflower 2-step and then a matchup in Waco against No. 6 Texas. Can Baylor keep winning and claim the Big 12 title for the third straight year?

<title>Baylor Basketball Picks Up First Conference Win</title>
<description>Both the Baylor men's and women's basketball teams were in action Wednesday night. The men's team, led by Keyonte George's 32 points, beat West Virginia to pick up their first conference win of the season after an 0-3 start. The women were not as fortunate, falling to Oklahoma State at home. We discuss both of these performances and the look-ahead.
But first, of course, we tell you why TCU's 65-7 loss to Georgia was inevitable and why it does NOT take away from TCU's season or the strength of the Big 12 conference.

<title>SicEm365's Kendall Kaut Joins to Talk Baylor Basketball</title>
<description>As Baylor basketball is in the midst of a 16 day layoff between their last game, a win over #18 Gonzaga and their next one, a matchup in Dallas against the Pac-12's Washington State, the BearsIllustrated Podcast is joined by SicEm365's Kendall Kaut. Kendall has previously written a book titled, "How They Drew It Up: Baylor's Unforgettable 2021 Championship Season," chronicling the Bears' National Championship run a couple years ago.
We ask Kendall about Baylor basketball's strengths and weaknesses and his experience attending Baylor's win over Gonzaga in South Dakota (he says he never wants to visit the Mount Rushmore state again). And of course, we ask him how this team's top three guards - Adam Flagler, LJ Cryer, and Keyonte George - compare with the 2021 championship trifecta of Jared Butler, Davion Mitchell, and MaCio Teague.

<itunes:summary>As Baylor basketball is in the midst of a 16 day layoff between their last game, a win over #18 Gonzaga and their next one, a matchup in Dallas against the Pac-12's Washington State, the BearsIllustrated Podcast is joined by SicEm365's Kendall Kaut.

<title>Someone thinks #10 Kansas State should be considered for the CFP</title>
<description>Baylor football finished their season with a loss at Texas on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The Bears hung in there for three and a half quarters, but Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson quite literally ran away with the game for the Longhorns from there.
Much drama exists around college football as well, with the penultimate college football playoff rankings coming out on Tuesday evening. One of us has the crazy idea if Kansas State were to dominate undefeated #3 TCU in the Big 12 championship game, K-State should be given consideration for the CFP. What in the world is the reasoning behind that? Listen in to find out!

<title>Baylor Football Hosts Kansas State in Blackout Game</title>
<description>Baylor football sits at 6-3 with a 4-2 conference record heading into this weekend's matchup against Kansas State. It's a game between two teams (K-State also sits at 4-2 in the conference) vying for the second Big 12 championship game spot and the right to likely play TCU.
How does this matchup look for the Bears and what did we learn from last weekend's win over Oklahoma that will hopefully translate into success for the rest of the season?

      <title>Baylor Men's Basketball Season Preview</title>
<description>Baylor basketball season starts this week, with games on Monday and Friday at the Ferrel Center. The Bears, who last year won their second straight Big 12 regular season (sharing the title with Kansas in 2021-2022), enter this season ranked Number 5 in the pre-season AP Poll.
Baylor's roster has undergone a number of changes, losing four key players this offseason but adding a lot of talent, through both recruiting and the transfer portal, to make up for it. We break down Baylor's roster and preview the 2022-2023 season.
We also touch on the rumors of basketball powerhouse Gonzaga showing interest in joining the Big 12 as well as Baylor head coach Scott Drew's comments on a potential NCAA tournament expansion to 128 teams.

<title>Thoughts on First CFP Rankings of 2022</title>
<description>We share our thoughts on the first set of this season's College Football Playoff rankings, with some surprises. Tennessee comes it at number 1, followed by Ohio State and Georgia. Undefeated TCU sits at number 7, while 2-loss LSU is at number 10 and gets ready to play Alabama. In the Big 12, TCU is the only top 10 team but Kansas State comes in at number 13, Oklahoma State at number 18 and Texas sneaks in at 24.
And the AAC has two teams vying for the Group of 5's NY6 Bowl spot, with Tulane coming in at number 19 and UCF at 25.

<title>Thoughts on Baylor Football's win over Kansas and other games from Week 8; Look forward to Baylor - Texas Tech</title>
<description>We break down Baylor football's win over Kansas, including nearly blowing a 28-3 lead and closing the game out with a big late-fourth quarter touchdown drive.
Also, around the rest of the Big 12, how much blame does Quinn Ewers deserve for Texas' loss to Oklahoma State? And how good is undefeated TCU?
Finally, we briefly look forward to Baylor's next game, as the Bears go on the road to play Texas Tech in Lubbock on Saturday night.

<description>Ben Chase is a guy with a law degree from George Washington University. He used to be an NIL consultant for athletes and universities. But now, Ben has a new full time job: College Football MegaFan.
The former lawyer is on a season-long road trip, visiting stadiums and watching games across the country, with one goal in mind: Break the record for most college football games watched in one season.
Last Thursday, Ben Chase was in Morgantown, dressed head-to-toe in West Virginia gear, watching the Mountaineers hand a blow to our Baylor Bears. In this episode of the BearsIllustrated Podcast, we check in with Ben about how his journey is going and his visit to West Virginia.

<title>Baylor loses to West Virginia 43-40, drops to 3-3 for the season</title>
<description>Baylor football, coming off a bye week, dropped their Thursday night matchup at West Virginia, falling to 3-3 on the season. The Bears have still never won in Morgantown.
In a game where Baylor quarterback Blake Shapen had to leave in the third quarter with a head injury, the offense still put up 40 points. But the defense was as bad as the offense was good, and Baylor ultimately fell by a score of 43-40.
We break down all facets of the loss, including the biggest reasons for Baylor's loss, why the Bears' defense played so poorly, and share our thoughts on whether this team is "immature" as head coach Dave Aranda said earlier this week.

<title>Baylor vs BYU Preview with LockedOn Cougars host Jake Hatch</title>
<description>Baylor football hits a big road test this weekend against the BYU Cougars in what is arguably the biggest College Football matchup of Week 2.
Last season, Baylor cruised to a 38-24 victory over BYU in Waco. But things may be different this time around, as BYU has an improved team, especially along the offensive and defensive lines where Baylor dominated last time around.
Jake Hatch, a radio host for 97.5 KSL Sports Zone in Utah, as well as host of the LockedOn Cougars Podcast, joins the show to break down Baylor vs. BYU.

<title>BearsIllustrated Podcast: Startup Waco launches NIL program for Baylor student-athletes</title>
<description>Ever since the NCAA began permitting Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) opportunities, institutions and boosters have been using that to their advantage.
By forming NIL Collectives or Trusts independent of universities, boosters are working to create NIL deals with student athletes and connect them with other businesses in their area.
Baylor was the final Power 5 institution for which an NIL Collective - or in this case, an NIL Collective-type organization - was formed. This NIL program is called the Green and Gold Exchange (GXG) and is specifically designed to help connect Baylor student-athletes on any team with a variety of resources in the Waco, Texas community.
GXG is an arm of Startup Waco, a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to elevate the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Waco and McLennan County and be a leading source of innovation and economic growth.
Jacob Kehoe, the Assistant Director for Startup Waco, joins the show to talk about why GXG was created and the opportunities it will provide for Baylor student-athletes.

<title>BearsIllustrated Podcast: Dave Aranda Speaks at Big 12 Media Day</title>
      <description>Appreciate the Question

The 2022 Big 12 Media Days kicked off in Dallas yesterday and there was plenty to discuss. Baylor President Linda Livingstone introduced the brand new Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark, who will take over for Bob Bowlsby on August 1.
First to the podium was Baylor head coach Dave Aranda. Aranda enters his third season with the Bears as the defending Big 12 champions and also the media’s preseason selection to win the league—a first in school history. It would be the first time Baylor won back to back Big 12 titles since 2013-14.
However, champions are not made based on paper ballots or what a team did the year before. Aranda noted how this is a ‘brand new team’ and that while the lights are nice, he is more concerned in the process each player is going through in Waco.
A tough offseason decision was made by Aranda to name Blake Shapen the starting quarterback over incumbent Gerry Bohanon. But could it be a championship decision to lift the Bears to not only a Big 12 title but a national championship?
We discuss Coach Aranda’s press conference, Baylor’s perilous task ahead to repeat, the QB situation and more in this episode of the Bears Illustrated Podcast.
Appreciate your listening.

<title>BearsIllustrated Podcast: Conference Realignment - USC and UCLA Move to the Big Ten and what could be next</title>
<description>UCLA and USC have shaken up the college football world by announcing that they will be jumping ship from the Pac-12 and joining the Big Ten Conference. This comes a year after a so-called alliance was created between the ACC-Big Ten-Pac-12 and Notre Dame in response to Texas and Oklahoma leaving for the SEC.
College football now seems destined to change and look drastically different in three to five years from how it looks today. And that leaves some unanswered questions that need to be addressed. What will the remaining Pac-12 teams do? How does the Big 12 respond? What happens to the ACC? Notre Dame? Do the Big Ten and SEC continue their aggressive expansion to create two mega conferences? Are three 20-team conferences created? How will a national champion be crowned in college football? What becomes of the bowls?
And where does Baylor fit into the mix?
Listen below to this episode of the BearsIllustrated podcast where we discuss answers to all of this and more. Let us know your ideal CFB solution in the comments below or on Twitter!

<title>BearsIllustrated Podcast: Is Baylor's Blake Shapen a Top Quarterback in College Football?</title>
<description>A few outlets, including 247sports and CBS Sports, have released their national college quarterback rankings. Baylor football quarterback Blake Shapen is not too high on these lists. We dive into the rankings and where Shapen he falls in the national college football quarterback picture.
Also, with the NBA Finals going on, we decided to turn back the clock for the players on the Warriors' and Celtics' rosters and debate which team would win if all of these guys were still in college. Would it be Duke's Jayson Tatum and Florida's Al Horford, a 2-time national champion, using their big-game experience to their advantage? Or would it be guys like Davidson's Stephen Curry and Arkansas' Moses Moody exploding on offense and taking Golden State to victory?
Guest Andrew Miller, who covers the University of Texas for FanSided and USA Today, joins the show to share his thoughts on future Big 12 expansion, even after BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston join the Big 12.

<title>Guest Episode: Graham Coffey - Why Baylor Football is among the best at developing players</title>
<description>Graham Coffey created the Development Quotient, which is a formula that determines how well college football teams develop players and get them ready for the NFL. Baylor ranked number 11 in this years Development Quotient out of all college football teams, and could continue to rise. Texas ranks in the middle of the pack, around 43rd. So how do we determine who are the best at developing players and who maybe aren't as good as they should be? How have Matt Rhule and Dave Aranda helped prepare Baylor players for the Draft? Is Baylor's growth in terms of NFL presence sustainable? Graham breaks all of that down in this episode of the BearsIllustrated Podcast.
