I read a book once by a feller named Ken Blanchard. He wrote - None of us is as smart as all of us. - I love that. It's so true. The Bible says - In the counsel of many, there is wisdom. - So let's lean into that.

I literally just copy and pasted a simple question into a text to a ton of friends and people I respect. The question: Gimme one piece of brief tournament advice. First thing that comes to mind. (and obviously this applies to way more than just fishing a derby. this is about preparation, how to attack / dissect, how to plan for weather, boat stuff, everything)

We got so much good stuff from people and its so diverse and kinda all over the place. So instead of Jordan, Nate and Lola giving advice on winning, it's from people who win at the very highest level and it's them responding to my text. It's not just some thing I looked up that they said once. And it's not just BP and Gussy and John Cox, it's local sticks that we respect . Like Lonnie Peterson and Justin Rowe, Adam Crigger, Jeremy Moldrem, Andrew Full from Serious Angler, Brian Latimer, Tyler Berger from BassFishing HQ, etc.

Write some of this stuff down. No jokes. It's so good. I literally actually think that if you put some of this stuff into practice, you will be better at fishing derbies, you will win more tournaments. Just in general, these two episodes will make you win at fishing more, competitively and just for fun fishing.

about his "disability" for lack of a better term. I just knew he was a

stick bass fisherman. Imagine my surprise when I saw a photo of the man

and noticed that he has no legs, and essentially one hand.

I read a quote by Benjamin Franklin once - "I never knew a man who was

good at making excuses that was good at anything else" - I don't know if

Hunter is a tattoo feller, but if he his, he needs this on him, it sums

him up wonderfully.

Jordan first started ordering from Carolina Fishing Tackle in maybe 2015 or so. The Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) for fishing is insane and ever evolving. In Japan, the bass waters are so pressured that anglers and lure makers are constantly being forced to come up with new techniques as the fish become sort of programmed and desensitized to the same old same old. This forces amazing / creative innovations. Japanese anglers are responsible for rigs like hover strolling, drop shotting, the tokyo rig, and on and on.

Trey Harpel (pronounced Har-Pehl) runs a full time business taking apart fishing reels, cleaning em, lubing, greasing, upgrading and re-building them. He does this on brand new reels and old ones alike. To give you a little insight on just how legit this dude is, consider this; he does HUNDREDS of reels a month. Yes, you read that correctly. People will send him 40 at a time, 70 at a time, and he goes to work. His knowledge and insight is mind blowing. This is a guy you NEED to be following on YouTube and or Social Media.

He fishes derbies, paints and sells lures, makes awesome honest videos on YouTube, and runs a super successful reel cleaning and customizing business. Not to mention that he loves Tacos. Yes, Trey is our kinda human! So stoked to have him with us for Episode 41.

From the very beginning of this show, Nate, Jordan and Lola wanted to have a Taco Expert on the show. This more than fits the bill.

A couple months back, Jordan, Lola and the whole fam went to a restaurant called Guac N Roll in downtown Eau Claire, WI. They literally only went because it was close to where they were and they were operating on a tight time table. Turns out the food was amazing, tacos were off the charts, place was super clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. About half way through devouring a "Barstow Burrito" Jordan approached the fella behind the counter and asked if he would be interested in being interviewed on a podcast, and here we are.

This episode is awesome. Carlos, the son of the owners, walks us through their place, where it came from, how it started, where the name and logo originated, and Carlos basically explains why his mom is now Lola's hero! We also discuss Nate and Jordan being really amateur when it comes to huntin' them whitetail durrs.

Nate, Jordan and Lola all sit down and basically just chat in this week's episode. We, like always, talk fishing and talk tacos. One of the first things we thought of when we decided to do a podcast with the word "tacos" in the title was to do restaurant reviews. So we finally did it. Nate recaps his experience eating some tacos from a food truck in Iowa and Lola and Jordan talk about a new Mexican joint in WI that was originally a food truck.

Each of us also give one super practical / simple fishing tip to make any angler better. You could be a top level tournament guy, a bank fisherman, or someone just starting out. You never really arrive in fishing or hunting. You never just land and say "I can learn no more, I know everything there is to know!" So we hope this helps even just a little bit. As a reminder or maybe as new info, we are hoping to help your fishin'.

Well it's about G D time, eh? Curt is a close friend with everyone on this show so it makes sense, being this calendar-close to everyone kicking off deer archery season, that we have the dude on.

This is our first ever, and who knows maybe last ever, "DEER STUFF" episode. We are aware that we are a fishing and a taco podcast, but we all deer hunt and will venture to guess that a lot of you do the same, so let's talk about it. Let's talk about deer baby. Let's talk about you and me, let's talk about bucks and that does in heat, let's talk about deer. Let's talk about deer. Sorry. Had a little retro Salt n Pepa moment there.

Our goal here was to have a deer episode that was cool and fun to listen to but also somewhat informative and practical. We hope that you can listen to this and learn a little something. We sure did!
