<title>James Norton on Marathon Training with Type 1 Diabetes</title>
<description>Actor James Norton joins Men’s Health and Runner’s World for a special crossover episode.
Ahead of his first London Marathon, Norton breaks down what training actually looks like when you’re not a “natural runner” - and what changes when you’re managing Type 1 diabetes.
From carb strategy and glucose monitoring to injuries, data overload and mental fatigue, this is a candid look at the reality of preparing for 42.2km.
We also get into cold exposure, mindset, and why, for this race, finishing
matters more than hitting a time.
Plus, Norton explains how new diabetes tech is transforming endurance sport and why he’s running for a cause bigger than himself.

<title>He Ran a Marathon From the Top of a Volcano</title>
<description>Ben Shephard and Andrew Tracey are joined by former Royal Marines Commando and expedition leader Aldo Kane to break down what ‘mental toughness’ actually means – and why most people have it completely wrong. From operating in war zones to leading teams into the world’s most hostile environments, Aldo explains why toughness isn’t about ice baths or suffering for the sake of it, but the ability to keep going when things get uncomfortable – physically, mentally and emotionally.

Along the way, we dig into the realities of extreme performance – including running a marathon from the summit of the world’s highest volcano – why gratitude might be the most powerful mental tool you’re not using, and the simple fitness standard every man should aim for: not being a burden. This is a masterclass in resilience, stripped of ego.

<title>Military Cross Recipient on Masculinity, Vulnerability and Real Toughness</title>
<description>Former British Army soldier and Military Cross recipient Brian Wood joins Ben Shephard and Andrew Tracey to talk about masculinity, vulnerability and what real toughness actually looks like – starting with the war crimes allegations that turned his life upside down.

After being accused of serious offences following his actions in Iraq – claims he always denied and was ultimately cleared of – Brian opens up about the toll of years under investigation, the impact on his mental health, and the reality of fighting a very different kind of battle back home.

Drawing on his experiences in combat – and the aftermath that followed – Brian explains why strength isn’t about shutting down, but opening up. We discuss trauma, the pressure men put on themselves to ‘hold it together’, and why learning to talk might be one of the hardest – and most important – skills a man can develop.

We also get into leadership under fire, the role of movement and endurance in rebuilding resilience, and why ‘movement is medicine’ has become a cornerstone of Brian’s life beyond the military.

If you’ve ever questioned what it really means to be strong, this one will stay with you.

<title>Roger Gracie on How to Strength Train for BJJ</title>
<description>Brazillian jiu-jitsu legend Roger Gracie joins Ben Shephard and Andrew Tracey to talk legacy, longevity and why BJJ might be the most complete training system on the planet.

.
We break down how the 10-time world champion built his game, why technique always beats brute strength, and the three lifts he believes every BJJ athlete should prioritise. Roger explains why you don’t need to ‘get fit’ before you start, how rolling builds resilience under pressure, and why jiu-jitsu forces you to rethink your sleep, nutrition and recovery if you want to keep progressing..
Along the way, we get into the 'Gracie Challenge', the very origin of the sport, the explosion of BJJ into the mainstream, whether strength really matters on the mat, and why Roger believes Olympic inclusion could fundamentally change – even damage – the art.

.
If you’ve ever thought about starting jiu-jitsu, competing for the first time, or simply want a smarter way to build strength and mental toughness, this one’s essential viewing.

<title>Tom Aikens Ripped Michelin Starred Chef: Forget Meal Prep, Do This InsteadDefault</title>
<description>Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens joins Ben Shephard and Andrew Tracey to talk discipline, endurance and why most blokes are overcomplicating their nutrition.

.

We break down how years of 14-hour kitchen shifts and knee surgery pushed him towards daily mobility work, ultramarathons and a ruthlessly consistent routine. Tom opens up about desert racing in brutal heat, fuelling without gels, and the mindset required to stay lean and strong in a high-stress profession.

.

Along the way, we get into why traditional meal prep might be missing the point, how to make simple protein-and-carb meals actually taste good, and why performance in the kitchen – and in life – starts with looking after your body first.

      <title>The Gym Is Non-Negotiable for My Mental Health - Here's How I Train</title>
<description>Former England football turned Men's Health cover superstar, Rio Ferdinand, joins Andrew Tracey to talk through how his approach to training, health and performance has changed since retiring from football.

.

We break down what stopped working once the weekly match mileage disappeared, why longevity now matters more than ego, and how his training has shifted towards staying strong, mobile and pain-free. Rio opens up about balancing heavy lifting with functional movement, adapting nutrition for real life, and why consistency beats intensity when you’re juggling travel, work and family. Along the way, we get into fatherhood, mental sharpness, and what it really means to train for life – not just sport.

<title>Spencer Matthews: World Record Triathlon on 7 Continents</title>
<description>Spencer Matthews joins Ben Shephard and Andrew Tracey fresh off one of the most extreme endurance challenges ever attempted — completing seven Iron-distance triathlons on seven continents in 21 days.

.

We break down what that actually involved, from the brutal logistics and relentless travel to the moments where the project nearly fell apart. Spencer opens up about the Antarctic swim that haunted him for months, the safety briefing that made him question whether they should even be doing it, and the moment fear almost stopped everything. Along the way, we get into decision-making under pressure, the difference between toughness and recklessness, and why doing hard things isn’t always about bravado — especially when you’ve got a family waiting at home.

      <title> Ben Shephard: I’m Stronger at 50 Than I Was at 38</title>
<description>Ben Shephard returns to the Men’s Health cover 13 years after his first shoot – this time at 50 – to find out if he can still match the physique he built at 38. What began as a personal “Fit at 50” challenge quickly became a deeper journey into strength, resilience and consistency.

Shephard shares how his training has evolved into a hybrid of calisthenics, cardio and functional strength – with a focus on longevity, not just looks. He opens up about bouncing back from serious injury, navigating motivation dips, and learning to train smarter to stay in the game.

He talks candidly about the role fitness plays in managing stress, sustaining energy, and showing up better at work and home. Above all, he champions consistency as the key ingredient to long-term success, admitting that he’s still learning, still adapting, and still having fun.

      <title>Psychotherapist Owen O'Kane: Why we're addicted to anxiety </title>
<description>Owen O’Kane, psychotherapist and bestselling author of Ten to Zen and Addicted to Anxiety, joins the Men’s Health podcast to deliver a powerful, myth-busting conversation about modern mental health – especially for men.

He explains why high-functioning anxiety often hides in plain sight, how we can become unknowingly addicted to worry, and why therapy shouldn’t always feel comfortable. Drawing from decades of clinical experience – and his own upbringing during the Troubles in Northern Ireland – Owen shares insights on emotional repression, toxic resilience, and the cost of never slowing down.

He also opens up about working with palliative care patients, what men get wrong about strength, and how to build a better relationship with anxiety – one grounded in awareness, not avoidance.

<title>Chris Eubank Jr on the Fight of His Life: 'If I Lose to Conor Benn, I Retire' -</title>
<description>Chris Eubank Jr. speaks passionately about legacy, discipline, and his personal feud with Conor Benn. He’s driven by the need to uphold the Eubank name and refuses to let the Benn name overtake it - admitting it would “kill him” if it did.

He describes his transformation into a focused, different man when preparing for war (a fight), and outlines the intense lifestyle of a clean fighter: weekly drug tests, relentless training, strict nutrition, and monastic discipline. His training involves sparring, cardio, strength work, and a heavy emphasis on sleep and recovery.

Eubank opens up about his childhood as the son of Chris Eubank Sr., calling it an extraordinary but enjoyable experience. Though his father initially opposed his boxing ambitions, a conversation with Lennox Lewis helped change his father's mind.

<title>Thom Evans: Cover Model Shape For 12 Years?</title>
      <link>https://shows.acast.com/mens-health-uk/episodes/thom-evans-cover-model-shape-for-12-years</link>
<description>On this Men’s Health Squad conversation we are joined by former Scottish international rugby player and multiple Men’s Health cover model Thom Evans.
We sat down with Thom immediately after his most recent shoot and discussed, amongst other things, the fact that his innings as a cover model has spanned the decades, with Thom reflecting on how his training has changed over the years, and what keeps him consistent with his health and fitness to this day. We spoke about the rugby injury that left him millimetres away from paralysis or even death, and how that has impacted his training over the last ten years. Thom spoke candidly about how he now actively seeks out physical endeavours that give him that sense of community and camaraderie that he found in rugby, believing that shared emotions in these endeavours is one of the core elements of making fitness an unshakable part of your life. Wherever you’re at in your fitness journey, there are some inspiring takeaways from a man who’s found ways to make fitness a cornerstone of his identity for the long haul. Enjoy.

<title>Sam Thompson: Training for Health and Confidence, ADHD, and the Importance of Male Friendships</title>
      <link>https://shows.acast.com/mens-health-uk/episodes/sam-thompson-training-for-health-and-confidence-adhd-and-the</link>
<description>Welcome to this Men’s Health conversation with television personality, radio presenter and 2023 'I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' winner- Sam Thompson. We sat down with Sam directly after recording his Men's Health ‘How I Build My Body’ video, live at Farm Fitness, Essex. We discussed Sam’s training journey, how he’s shifted his focus from simply training for looks, to training to be healthy and physically capable for the rest of his life; how his ADHD diagnosis impacted his relationships, and how he subsequently uses the gym to help himself find calm and focus; and why Sam believes that cultivating male friendships is an incredibly important aspect of turning the tide against declining male mental health, with Sa stressing that making time to spend with your guy friends, be it in the gym, getting outdoors or just for a Nandos should be embraced.

      <title>Head Strong: Ray Winstone</title>
      <link>https://shows.acast.com/mens-health-uk/episodes/head-strong-ray-winstone</link>
      <description>Welcome to 'Head Strong'

Hosted by John ‘Fenners’ Fendley, each episode explores a spectrum of emotions and experiences, including grief, depression, anger, imposter syndrome, fatherhood and the grave issue of suicide.

In our first episode, we’re talking to Hollywood actor and star of Guy Ritchie’s new series The Gentlemen, Ray Winstone.

The East Londoner, who also appears in fantasy film Damsel alongside Mille Bobby Brown, opens up about the impact losing his mother to cancer had on him, inverted snobbery and how he’s never truly felt accepted in the arts.
Fenners, who’s been very open about his own mental health, shares his stories on depression, the taboo topic of antidepressants and how he still feels, at 54, like a boy when surrounded by large groups of men.

The two also touch on snooker balls in socks, imposter syndrome and why Winstone once head butted a director on set...

‘We’re all built on things that have happened in our lives, depressions and the moments that are hard to live with,’ says Winstone. ‘The loss of someone – everyone who is telling the truth will know something about what we’re talking about now.’

Our mission is to help people who find it challenging to speak about their struggles, encouraging them to join the conversation and recognise they are not alone. If you like this episode, let us know in the comments and if you want to listen only, you can catch 'Head Strong' on all major podcast platforms.

<title>Jake Dearden: Hyrox Master Trainer Shares How You Can Run Your Faster Race Ever</title>
      <link>https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mens-health-uk/episodes/Jake-Dearden-Hyrox-Master-Trainer-Shares-How-You-Can-Run-Your-Faster-Race-Ever-e2g6hd6</link>
<description>Jake is a Hyrox master trainer and world record holder, so you won’t be surprised to learn that the central theme of our chat today was… Hyrox. We covered absolutely everything Hyrox related: from what Hyrox is, why it’s become so hugely popular, how you can optimise your training for Hyrox, what to do (and what not to do on race day), how to hydrate and fuel your body for training and racing, and what supplements Jake believes can benefit Hyrox athletes.
Jake also talks us through the weekend he tackled 11 Hyrox events, back to back, sometimes with less than 20 minutes between races.
Lots of actionable tips here from a master trainer and incredible athlete, whether you’re looking to tackle your first race, or feel as though you want to start eeking out those marginal performance gains.

Enjoy!

<title>Dr. Judson Brewer: Why We Eat When We're Not Hungry (And How To Stop)</title>
      <link>https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mens-health-uk/episodes/Dr--Judson-Brewer-Why-We-Eat-When-Were-Not-Hungry-And-How-To-Stop-e2fhnu1</link>
<description>Dr. Jud is a neuroscientist, psychiatrist, researcher and author, as well as an internationally known expert in the field of addiction.
He joined us to talk about the topics of his new book The Hunger Habit: Why We Eat When We're Not Hungry and How to Stop.
We covered a huge amount of ground here, all circling the theme of why dieting can feel so hard, why willpower alone isn’t enough, if it does us any good at all. As well as how we can begin to rewire our brains to mend our relationship with food, fix the habits that aren’t serving us, and actually get back to enjoying the foods we eat, whilst eating in ways that are aligned with the lives we want to live.
I’m already looking forward to having Jud back on to drill a little deeper into the illusion of willpower, so consider a very informative and actionable part one, that might just change the way you eat, forever.

<title>Jason Fox: Former Special Forces Operator, Author, Presenter and Adventurer</title>
      <link>https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mens-health-uk/episodes/Jason-Fox-Former-Special-Forces-Operator--Author--Presenter-and-Adventurer-e2f65dp</link>
<description>Adventurer, former UK Special Forces soldier, and star of the TV show “SAS: Who Dares Wins” Jason Fox.

We sat down with Foxy freshly off the back of his Men’s Health cover shoot to talk about his training history, what he learned from his time in the special forces, his thoughts on the idea of cultivating a ‘military mindset’, and his struggles with poor mental health and the subsequent lessons he tries to implement in his daily life.

This was genuinely one of the most interesting, insightful and enjoyable conversations I’ve had, with Jason dishing up plenty of actionable takeaways, and lots to think about, all from a man who really has walked through the fire in his lifetime.

<title>Simon Mundie: Finding Success Without Losing Yourself</title>
      <link>https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mens-health-uk/episodes/Simon-Mundie-Finding-Success-Without-Losing-Yourself-e2fb8le</link>
<description>In this conversation we're joined by presenter, author and sports reporter for BBC Radio for the best part of a decade, Simon Mundie.
Simon came on to talk the themes of his new book ‘Champion Thinking- How To Find Success Without Losing Yourself’,
Drawing on interviews and anecdotes from sporting legends such as Jonny Wilkinson and Roger Federer, along with psychologists, philosophers and world-renowned thinkers, Simon shares some of the tools, techniques and mindset shifts that these sportspeople have embraced to grow and evolve.
We discussed the downsides of having a ‘win at all costs’ mindset and how this can result in feelings of emptiness and even mental health issues, even if you do win.
How achieving flow states in sport can teach us about the sense of peace that lies beneath our identity.
And how embracing the moment is the key to not only performing our best, but actually enjoying the work we put in ahead of the performance.

      <title>Brent Fikowski: 8 x Crossfit Games Athlete</title>
      <link>https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mens-health-uk/episodes/Brent-Fikowski-8-x-Crossfit-Games-Athlete-e2f66is</link>
<description>We covered a tonne of ground in this conversation, with Brent looking back at his personal history in Crossfit, as well as the evolution of the sport itself.
Brent is a huge advocate for the establishment and cultivation of more professional standards in crossfit, to this end he- alongside other competitors and coaches- has founded the Professional Fitness Athlete’s Association, where they seek to raise the standards of competition in the fitness world and give athletes a voice.
We spoke at length about what Brent believes is holding back the competitive functional fitness world, and causing athletes to seek their competitive fix elsewhere, as well as the changes and standards Brent believes would bring Crossfit in line with other, more grandfathered sports.
Brent, also gave some incredibly insightful tips for anyone looking to nurture a burgeoning training career, alongside a full-time job- a situation he himself was in when he took silver in the 2017 Crossfit games
This was a great conversation for anyone interested in Crossfit, functional fitness, or organised sport at large, and Brent, of course is a Crossfit legend.

<title>Shane Orr: Coaching, Parenting, and Forging Elite Fitness with One of the World's Greatest Crossfit Coaches</title>
      <link>https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mens-health-uk/episodes/Shane-Orr-Coaching--Parenting--and-Forging-Elite-Fitness-with-One-of-the-Worlds-Greatest-Crossfit-Coaches-e2ev94s</link>
<description>We sat down with renowned CrossFit trainer, operator of the PRVN fitness online platform, and coach (as well as husband and co-parent) to 6 x Crossfit games champion Tia-claire Toomey.
We sat down with Shane, who has recently become a father, to discuss training, performance and the impact that fatherhood can, but doesn’t necessarily need to have on your fitness.
Shane offered up some pearls of wisdom on not only how his approach to fitness has changed since becoming a father, but also how his motivations to train have shifted.
For anyone who’s trying to balance training and fatherhood right now, this was an insightful conversation on the topic, through the lens of a coach who’s at the top of his game.

      <link>https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mens-health-uk/episodes/Obi-Vincent-Genre-defying-Fitness-Inspiration-e2evkue</link>
<description>Big arms. Big following. Bigger heart. Obi Vincent is a modern-day fitness phenomenon who proves that achieving your goals doesn’t have to look like sacrifice and suffering.

In his own words, a former ‘fat kid’ turned bodybuilder, turned genre-defying fitness inspiration to the million social followers he has amassed. His YouTube videos alone have accrued an incredible 73m views.

He sat down with MH’s Andrew Tracey to share his belief that while there are a million things you should take seriously, ‘yourself’ isn’t one of them.
