Nat & Aly’s Stories - “Let’s Get Haunted”

As hosts of Let’s Get Haunted podcast, Nat and Aly have spent a lot of time exploring the strange and unexplained, so of course they’ve had a few experiences of their own they still can’t make sense of.

First, we hear Aly’s stories. While living in Newbury Park in Ventura County, California, she started to realize something about her house felt off. Between weird activity in the sky and a nighttime visitor who may have been delivering a warning, she quickly reached a point where she couldn’t stay any longer.

Then, we hear Nat’s stories. Years ago, a tarot card reader warned her that something had attached itself to her, and before long, she began to see it too, standing in her room in the middle of the night, watching her sleep.

Josh’s Story - “Bootprints in the Snow”

While out hunting in Dansville, Michigan, Josh finds the perfect spot to settle in and wait for deer. Sitting there in his ghillie suit, waiting for the sun to come up, he hears something stepping through the fresh snow behind him. He spins around, hoping to get the perfect shot, but there’s no animal there. Just a set of fresh bootprints in the snow that definitely weren’t there before. And when he decides to follow the bootprints, they lead to something he’s never been able to explain.

Brooke’s Story - “Washington George” & Emily’s Story - “Alan”

In this episode, we hear the stories of two women who share a very specific experience - the feeling of knowing someone before they had any logical way of knowing them.

First, we hear Brooke’s story. As a kid, Brooke received a Ouija board as a gift, and during her first and only session with it, it spelled out a full name that she didn’t really think much of at the time. But years later, while digging into her family history, she found that same name again, and discovered their connection ran much deeper than she expected.

Then, we’ll hear Emily’s story. Last year, Emily had to have major surgery. While she was coming out of anesthesia, still in that in-between state before she was conscious, she felt a loving presence and saw the face of a person she somehow recognized. She even knew their name, despite having no memory of ever meeting this person. And when she fully came to, she was stunned to find that same person standing in the room with her.

Years ago, while camping with a friend, three owls circled and swooped around their campsite for hours. What happened that night was weird enough on its own, but everything changed when an unshakable thought entered his mind: “This has something to do with the UFOs.” That moment forced him to revisit memories of UFO experiences from his own childhood that he had long doubted and dismissed. James’s Story - "Shrieking Boy’s Wood” & Marque’s Story - “The Mimic”

James and a friend were walking through the woods near their home in Thundersley, Essex, when they encountered a strange child in tattered Victorian clothing, peering at them from behind a tree. For years it was just a creepy story they’d tell at parties. But then, James found a book about Essex hauntings that revealed the dark history of those woods and made them rethink who they'd seen that night.

Then, we hear from Marque, a volunteer at the notoriously haunted Rhode Center for the Arts in Kenosha, Wisconsin. One night, he entered the basement looking for a prop but found something else instead: a shadow figure standing in the doorway, blocking his way out. When a friend later asked what he'd do if it followed him home, Marque laughed and said that he wished it would. That wish was granted.

Mitaya’s Story - “Jasper”

Mitaya grew up on a vast stretch of land in Jasper, Georgia, at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. During her fall break from school, she broke her arm, leaving her with little to do but spend long stretches of time alone outside. Over the course of that week, she began noticing strange phenomena in the sky. On the final night of her break, she was woken up by two bright lights outside her bedroom window. She tried to ignore them and go back to sleep, but what happened next is something she still can’t explain to this day. And soon after, an article in the local newspaper suggested she wasn’t the only one who had experienced something unexplainable in Jasper that night.

Rick and Sheri’s home in the Mojave desert was a peaceful place, until the day a stray dog appeared on the property. They took him in and named him Buddy. Buddy was a source of warmth and companionship, though his arrival seemed to stir something within the house. They began catching whiffs of cigarette smoke, finding objects knocked to the floor, and noticing their belongings moved from one room to another. Out on her horse rides through the property, Sheri began to see strange, geometric shapes shimmering through the desert air. One day, two strangers showed up on their doorstep with a story that connected every strange thing that happened — and hinted at what might still be there.

Tameera’s Story - “The Cecil Hotel” & Margo’s Story - “Sally”

On a trip to Los Angeles, Tameera and her boyfriend unknowingly checked into one of the city’s most infamous landmarks - the Cecil Hotel. When they opened the door to their room, they weren’t alone. A man was in their room, dressed like he’d stepped out of another century. He carried on packing his suitcase, as if they weren’t even there. They changed rooms immediately, but the weird experiences were far from over.

Then, Margo recounts a mystery from her childhood. At a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, she and her sister met a girl named Sally. The three became fast friends, but after that day, Sally was gone without a trace. Margo and her sister never stopped trying to find Sally. Years later, in a very unexpected place, they finally found her.

When Mimi was a kid, she traveled to a quiet town in Mexico to visit family and stayed in her aunt’s home - a home heavy with grief after the loss of her cousin. She woke several times throughout the night to find her aunt praying in the moonlight, cloaked in a strange robe. When Mimi finally approached the figure, she realized the hooded entity was not her aunt at all. Then, Woody shares a story from high school, when a classmate casually claimed he could move objects with his mind. Woody didn’t believe him - until he witnessed telekinesis happen right before his eyes.

While on vacation in Turkey, Ramya and her brother and sister-in-law check into a beautiful Airbnb in the heart of Istanbul. But then, they notice the mirrors. Dozens of them. Covering every wall. In every room. At first, they chalked it up to a strange interior design choice, but by their second night, it became clear that the mirrors weren’t just decorative. A series of unexplainable events kept the group wide awake until morning, and made the group wonder if something was watching them from the other side.

Chris Heck’s Story - “Our Side”

When Chris Heck and his friends moved into a crumbling old house right after high school, they thought they were just getting a cheap place to live. It seemed like the perfect house for the group, until the strange noises started. Curious to make contact with whatever entity they were living with, they utilize a Ouija board and automatic writing - both delivering unexplainable messages. One night, Chris has a sleep paralysis encounter and comes face to face with the entity. But the most surprising part came years later, when the house’s history came to light and offered shocking clarity to Chris’s experiences.

Maria’s Story & Michele’s Story - “Off the Map”

Two women. Two road trips. Two unexplainable detours.

This week we hear Maria’s story and Michele’s story - their stories are very similar in some ways, but take wildly different turns.

First, we hear Maria’s story. In 2007, she and her four siblings were driving home to Georgia after their uncle’s funeral in Florida. They stopped at a gas station just past Tifton, Georgia to use the restroom, but something felt off. Their unease quickly turned into fear, and they rushed back to the car. Fifteen minutes down the road, they found themselves impossibly right back where they started.

Next is Michele’s story. In 1986, she and 2 friends were making the drive back to Long Island after a trip to SUNY University in Cortland, Upstate New York. While driving the highway lined with nothing but apple orchards, their car got a flat tire. They expected a long walk back to the last exit, but instead, they stumbled upon a town they don’t remember passing. The town looks straight out of a Hallmark movie, and the residents are unusually charming and kind. Only later do they realize just how strange and inexplicable the experience truly was.

Two women. Two detours. Zero explanations.

Alex McDonald recounts a visit to his long-distance girlfriend in LA. They begin to experience the sound of a woman crying in the apartment hallway - a sound that vanishes the moment they open the door to investigate. As the nights go on, the atmosphere darkens. Sleep becomes elusive and the disturbances escalate. One night at 3 AM, the sobbing moves inside the apartment. They trace the sounds to the bathroom where the cries escalate into thunderous banging on the bathtub walls. Terrified, they sleep outside and move out the next day. When facing the landlord, they discover the tragic history behind that apartment bathroom.

It provides a lot of illuminating insight into life after death and brought a lot of hope and light into my own life. Alix’s Story - “Grandma’s House”

Kari Tello’s Story - “The Prayers”

Then, on a mission trip in New Zealand in her early 20s, she and her roommates are taunted by a demonic entity in the house they’re staying in. After hearing animalistic breathing while she’s trying to fall asleep, Kari begins to silently pray for protection. Her sleeping roommate then begins to repeat Kari’s prayers out loud, as she thinks them, until Kari falls asleep. Years later on a trip to northern California, Kari’s wedding band disappears off of her body after she hears her name being called by a disembodied voice.

He then finds himself inexplicably miles away from where he last remembers being, 30 minutes prior. In the second, a sleepwalking classmate on a field trip gives a terrifying warning.

Tell Me Your Ghost Story is a paranormal variety show - from interviews with people who have experienced the supernatural firsthand, to paranormal show and movie reviews, to field trip reports from haunted locations, to deep dives into the weirdest of topics, and lots of scary places in between. Host Kassie Askin isn’t trying to answer any of life’s biggest questions - instead, she strives to ask more questions and lean into the idea that some parts of reality are beyond our current understanding.
