<title>Breaking Free from the Ambition Trap with Amina AlTai</title>
<description>So many people, especially women, feel stuck in a cycle of ambition. Right when we reach one goal, the next best thing is there. Today, Dr. Jila sits down with Amina AlTai, the author of The Ambition Trap, for a conversation on reframing ambition and success.

They discuss the complexities of ambition and the impact of core wounds on our personal and professional lives. The conversation also delves into the importance of redefining success and contentment and how it’s important to define success outside of the professional sphere. We have so much more to offer, and focusing solely on career to define success can lead to burnout.

Amina also shares her personal journey of overcoming burnout. She shares her own wakeup call moment, and how it led her to start encouraging other women to reconnect with their true selves. She explains that establishing boundaries and understanding the mind-body connection is essential to building a sustainable relationship with ambition.

<title>Breaking the Silence Around Women’s Sexual Health with Dr. Sameena Rahman</title>
<description>Sex, desire, and pleasure are still some of the most misunderstood parts of women’s health, especially in midlife. In this episode, Dr. Jila is joined by OB GYN and sexual medicine specialist Dr. Sameena Rahman, also known as Gyno Girl, for an honest conversation about why sexual health is so often ignored and how women can reclaim it.

They talk about the cultural taboos that keep women silent, the real science behind libido, why pain during sex is never something you just have to accept, and how perimenopause and menopause reshape intimacy. Dr. Rahman explains the difference between spontaneous and responsive desire, how relationships and stress impact sexual function, and why movement, sleep, and communication matter just as much as hormones.

The conversation also explores how culture and upbringing shape women’s beliefs about sex, why so many women feel disconnected from pleasure, and what modern midlife care should actually look like. This episode is empowering, practical, and deeply validating for anyone who has felt confused, dismissed, or alone in their sexual health journey.

<title>Rethinking Menopause Care: Hormones, Lifestyle, and Sexual Wellness with Dr. Sarah De La Torre</title>
<description>Menopause care doesn’t have to be one size fits all and it certainly shouldn’t stop at “it is what it is.”

In this episode, Dr. Sarah De La Torre, a board-certified OB GYN with over 25 years of experience, shares how her career evolved from traditional medicine into a more holistic, personalized approach to caring for women in perimenopause and menopause. Drawing from her background in lifestyle medicine, functional medicine, and hormonal health, she explains why many women feel dismissed or underserved and what truly effective care looks like.

The conversation covers everything from hormonal therapy and vaginal health to libido, bladder issues, sleep, weight changes, and why sexual wellness is still one of the most overlooked parts of women’s health. Dr. De La Torre also dives into her work with Joylux and Respin.Health, including how red-light therapy, lifestyle support, community, and education can dramatically improve quality of life during midlife.

This episode is an empowering, honest look at menopause as a phase of possibility rather than decline and a reminder that women deserve care that is thoughtful, science based and centered on feeling good in their bodies.

<title>High Functioning, Low Joy: The Depression No One Sees with Dr. Judith Joseph</title>
<description>You can be successful, productive, and doing everything right on paper and still feel empty inside.

In this episode, Dr. Judith Joseph, psychiatrist, researcher, and author of High Functioning Depression, breaks down the mental health struggle so many people experience but rarely talk about: high functioning depression. It’s the quiet version of depression where you keep showing up, keep achieving, and keep pushing forward, even as joy slowly disappears.

The conversation explores how unresolved trauma, constant productivity, and midlife hormonal shifts can all contribute to feeling numb, restless, or disconnected, especially for women who are used to being the strong one. Dr. Joseph explains why symptoms like brain fog, anxiety, sleep issues, and identity changes often show up during perimenopause and menopause, and why these experiences are frequently misunderstood or misdiagnosed.

They also dive into the science of joy, why modern life and constant screen time are robbing us of it, and how small, intentional changes can help restore it. From redefining happiness to understanding your personal biopsychosocial model, this episode offers clarity, reassurance, and a more compassionate way to think about mental health.

This is a conversation for anyone who feels “meh,” burned out, or disconnected, even though life looks good from the outside.

Be sure to pick up a copy of High Functioning Depression to dive deeper into Dr. Joseph’s work and practical tools for reconnecting with joy.

<title>Midlife Isn’t Broken: Dr. Jessica Shepherd on Hormones, Health, and Aging Well</title>
<description>If you’ve been feeling off, tired, irritated, foggy, or just not like yourself and keep wondering if this is “just aging,” this episode will feel familiar.

Dr. Jila sits down with Dr. Jessica Shepherd, board certified OBGYN and women’s health expert, for a real, no-nonsense conversation about perimenopause, menopause, and why so many women feel completely unprepared for this stage of life.

They talk about how symptoms can start years earlier than most people expect, why hormones affect way more than just your cycle, and why so many women are dismissed or told everything is “normal.” Dr. Shepherd shares what she sees every day in practice, how her own journey shaped her approach to care, and why learning to trust yourself again is a huge part of feeling better.

They also get into longevity, metabolism, daily habits that actually matter, and why small changes done consistently are far more powerful than trying to overhaul your entire life. Dr. Shepherd explains why she wrote Generation F and wanted to give women something practical, honest, and reassuring instead of more fear or confusion.

This episode is for anyone who wants answers, clarity, and to feel less alone in what they’re experiencing.

<title>Weight Is Not Willpower: A Clear Look at GLP One Therapy with Dr. Alexandra Sowa</title>
<description>GLP one medications are everywhere right now, but most of the conversation is missing context, nuance, and science. In this episode, Dr. Jila sits down with Dr. Alexandra Sowa, a dual board-certified physician in internal medicine and obesity medicine, to break down what these medications actually do, who they are for, and how they fit into long term metabolic health for women.

They discuss why weight is a chronic disease rooted in biology rather than willpower, how hormonal shifts in midlife complicate weight and metabolic health, and why shame and misinformation have shaped so many women's experiences with their bodies. Dr Sowa explains how GLP one medications work in the body, what side effects to expect, how to manage them, and why these medications are not a short-term fix but a potential long-term tool.

The conversation also covers lab testing, body composition, muscle preservation, nutrition, fiber, hydration, supplements, and the realities of maintenance, microdosing, and stopping treatment. This episode offers a clear, evidence-based look at GLP one therapy without hype, fear, or oversimplification.

      <title>Women's Health, Longevity &amp; The Nutrition Pillars</title>
<description>Before we wrap up the year, Dr. Jila is taking listeners through one of the most important foundations for women's long-term health and vitality, nutrition. In this solo conversation, she explains how hormonal changes in your 30s, 40s and 50s reshape everything from metabolism and muscle mass to gut health, inflammation, and brain function, and why most standard nutrition advice was never designed with women in mind.

She breaks down the essential nutrition pillars that support healthy aging, including why protein is one of the most underrated longevity nutrients, how anti-inflammatory fats protect the brain and heart, why fiber and plant diversity are crucial for gut resilience and glucose control, and how balanced meals steady hormones, mood, and energy through midlife.

Dr Jila also clears up common myths like eating less to weigh less, carbs being the enemy, and protein making you bulky. She explains why muscle is an organ of longevity and how nutrition and strength training work together to protect your future health. The episode finishes with an evidence-based supplement guide covering creatine, omega 3s, vitamin D3, K2, magnesium, and the role of pre and probiotics.

This episode is a reminder that it is never too late to shift the trajectory of your health. Small changes add up, and your future self will thank you for starting now.

<title>The Future of Women’s Health is Timeless: Ovarian Longevity with Kiran Kumar is the Founder &amp; CEO of Timeless Biotech</title>
<description>Ovarian longevity is finally entering the spotlight, and today’s conversation shows why that shift matters for every woman. In this episode, Dr. Jila sits down with Kiran Kumar, founder and CEO of Timeless Biotech, the groundbreaking company behind the first ovarian age clock and time to menopause predictor. For the first time, women can measure their ovarian aging, understand their hormonal trajectory, and use data to guide both fertility planning and long-term health.

Kiran shares how standard hormone testing has failed women for decades, why machine learning can finally close that gap, and how her team built a model that interprets FSH, AMH, estradiol and symptom patterns with accuracy we’ve never had before. You’ll hear how this technology gives clinicians a new way to track ovulation, hormone health and menopause timing, plus how it may help delay menopause by supporting ovarian function and mitochondrial health.

This episode explores the future of personalized female longevity care, from targeted interventions and retesting cycles to the cellular therapies and hormone strategies that may reshape women’s health in the years ahead. And yes, Dr. Jila’s clinic will be one of the first in the country to pilot this technology in January 2026.

<title>Mitochondria, Menopause and Modern Longevity with MitoQ’s CSO</title>
<description>Mitochondrial health is having a moment, and for good reason. In this conversation, Dr. Jila sits down with Dr. Siobhan Mitchell, Chief Science Officer at MitoQ, to explore how our cellular energy systems shape everything from cognition and aging to hormone balance and long term vitality. With a background that spans neuroscience, metabolism, mood, behavior, and global clinical research, Dr. Mitchell explains why mitochondrial function plays a central role in how women feel in midlife, especially as estrogen declines.

Together, they unpack how mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to brain fog, fatigue, perimenopause symptoms, and cardiovascular changes; why estrogen is such a powerful mitochondrial protector; and what makes MitoQ’s cellular technology fundamentally different from traditional CoQ10. Dr. Mitchell also shares insights from emerging research on brain health, ovarian aging, cognitive decline, and the future of longevity science, including clinical trials currently underway.

If you’re curious about mitochondrial health, longevity, or science backed cellular support for women in midlife, this episode offers a clear and compelling deep dive into the world of cellular energy.

<p>Together, they unpack how mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to brain fog, fatigue, perimenopause symptoms, and cardiovascular changes; why estrogen is such a powerful mitochondrial protector; and what makes MitoQ’s cellular technology fundamentally different from traditional CoQ10. Dr. Mitchell also shares insights from emerging research on brain health, ovarian aging, cognitive decline, and the future of longevity science, including clinical trials currently underway. </p>
<p>If you’re curious about mitochondrial health, longevity, or science backed cellular support for women in midlife, this episode offers a clear and compelling deep dive into the world of cellular energy. </p>

      <title>The Hormone Whisperer Within</title>
<description>Tune in as Dr. Jila opens up an honest and compassionate conversation about the hormonal language of midlife. Instead of viewing symptoms as something to fear or dismiss, she reframes them as signals from the body that deserve attention, curiosity, and care. Through a powerful patient story and decades of clinical insight, Dr. Jila explores why so many women are misdiagnosed or brushed aside, how to recognize the early shifts of perimenopause, and why reconnecting with your body is essential to navigating this chapter with clarity.

She breaks down the roles of key hormones, explains how stress and modern living can mask early changes, and shares practical tools for rebuilding awareness, from symptom tracking to daily check-ins, wearables, nutrition, and lifestyle shifts that support long term vitality.

If you’ve ever felt dismissed, confused, or overwhelmed by the changes happening within your body, this episode is a reminder that you are not imagining it, you are not alone, and your body is speaking to you. Dr. Jila shows you exactly how to listen.

<description>Dr. Jila brings on friend and fellow specialist Dr. Catherine Johnson to recap the 2025 Menopause Society meeting. Since Dr. Jila couldn’t attend this year she gets a download on the biggest new findings in perimenopause and menopause science including the FDA approval of a new non-hormonal drug for hot flashes and sleep, updated thinking on cardiovascular risk in midlife, misinformation around hormones and pellets, the rising role of GLP-1s in weight medicine, and why sleep and alcohol are now central to the longevity conversation. It’s a packed talk for anyone who wants to stay current without sorting through conference slides.

<title>From Postpartum to Perimenopause: The Hormonal Thread That Connects Motherhood and Midlife</title>
<description>Postpartum and perimenopause may feel decades apart, but they speak the same hormonal language. In this solo deep dive, Dr Jila explains why so many women experience the same brain fog, anxiety, sleep changes, mood swings, and identity shifts after giving birth and again in midlife. She breaks down the hormonal physiology behind both seasons, why the medical system still treats them as unrelated, and how that gap leaves women unsupported and dismissed. Dr Jila also shares the lifestyle, nutrition, and medical tools that build a longevity foundation between these two life chapters, and reframes this season as a time of reinvention rather than decline.

<title>Relief, Treatment, Hope &amp; Understanding GSM: Breaking the Silence on Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause</title>
<description>Time for us to discuss genitourinary syndrome of menopause, also known as GSM. This condition affects nearly half of postmenopausal women yet often goes undiagnosed and untreated.

Dr. Jila explains what GSM is, why it happens, and how it can lead to symptoms like dryness, discomfort with intimacy, frequent urinary tract infections, urgency, and even leakage. More importantly, she shares why these issues are not just an inevitable part of aging and why no woman should suffer in silence.

Let's learn about safe and effective treatment options, including local estrogen therapy, and why speaking up to your healthcare provider can be life changing. This episode is all about giving women the knowledge and confidence to take control of their health, protect their quality of life, and move forward without shame.

ADDYI is for premenopausal women with acquired, generalized hypoactive (low) sexual desire disorder who have not had problems with low sexual desire in the past, and who have low sexual desire no matter the type of sexual activity, the situation or the sexual partner. The low sexual desire is troubling to them and is not due to a medical or mental health problem, problems in the relationship or medicine or other drug use. ADDYI is not for use in men or to enhance sexual performance. Your risk of severe low blood pressure and fainting is increased if you drink 1-2 standard alcoholic drinks close in time to your ADDYI dose. Wait at least 2 hours after drinking before taking ADDYI at bedtime. Your risk of severe low blood pressure and fainting is also increased if you take certain prescription, over the counter or herbal medications, or have liver problems. Low blood pressure and fainting can happen when you take ADDYI even if you don’t drink alcohol or take other medicines. Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in ADDYI. Allergic reactions may include hives, itching or trouble breathing. Sleepiness, sometimes serious, can occur. Common side effects include dizziness, nausea, tiredness, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep and dry mouth. <title>The Hormonal Hijack: Why You’re Gaining Weight in Perimenopause and Menopause</title>
<description>Why does it feel like your body is changing overnight in perimenopause? In this episode Dr. Jila breaks down the science behind weight gain during menopause from the hormonal shifts that change fat distribution to the difference between visceral and subcutaneous fat.

She explains why the scale and BMI don’t always tell the full story, what “skinny fat” really means, and how muscle mass, sleep, stress, and nutrition all play a role in metabolism. Dr. Jila also explores treatments that work (and those that don’t), the role of medications like GLP-1s, and practical steps women can take to support their health through this transition.

It’s an honest, empowering conversation that helps reframe midlife not as the beginning of the end, but as a hormonal reboot with the right tools and knowledge.

<title>From OCPs to HRT: Making Sense of Hormones Across Life Stages</title>
<description>In today’s episode Dr. Jila dives into one of the most common questions she hears: what’s the difference between oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) and hormone replacement therapy (HRT)?

She breaks down how these two treatments use hormones for very different purposes, depending on age and stage of life. From managing painful periods, endometriosis, and contraception in younger women, to relieving hot flashes, sleep issues, mood changes, and long-term health risks in midlife and beyond, Dr. Jila explains the science, the options, and the decision-making process.

Along the way, you’ll learn how estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone actually work in the body, why bioidentical hormones matter, and what routes of treatment are available from pills to patches to creams. The takeaway? OCPs and HRT aren’t one-size-fits-all, but tools to be used thoughtfully with your provider to support health, quality of life, and longevity.

If you’ve ever wondered whether OCPs or HRT are right for you, or just want to understand the differences, this conversation is packed with clarity, compassion, and real-world guidance.

<title>A Partner’s Perspective: The Other Side of Menopause</title>
<description>In this episode of Her Time, Her Health, Dr. Jila shifts the spotlight to the often-overlooked perspective of partners during women’s midlife hormonal changes. With divorce rates in midlife soaring as high as 40-60%, Dr. Jila dives into the confusion and disconnect partners face when women navigate perimenopause and menopause. She explores the science behind mood swings, fatigue, and intimacy challenges, emphasizing that these are physiological changes, not relationship failures.

With warmth and practical advice, Dr. Jila offers actionable tips for partners: educate yourself, start curious conversations, offer non-sexual affection, and consider joining doctor’s visits to understand the journey together. This episode is a call to bridge the gap, strengthen relationships, and approach this transition as a team, ensuring couples come out stronger.

      <title>Not Feeling Like Myself</title>
<description>Time to get into the data! You hear that right, today Dr. Jila explores a recent study published by the Menopause Society Journal that finally puts data behind a phrase she hears every day in her practice, "I just do not feel like myself."

The study surveyed over 1,600 women between the ages of 35 and 55 and uncovered just how common it is to experience deep fatigue, mood swings, anxiety, low motivation, brain fog, and a loss of identity during perimenopause. Dr. Jila breaks down why these symptoms are real, what is happening beneath the surface, and how we as women can stop brushing it off as just stress.

If you have been feeling tired, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply unlike yourself, this episode is for you. You are not imagining it. You are not alone. And there is help.

A trusted voice for women in transition, Tamsen is an award-winning journalist, speaker, and host of The Tamsen Show podcast. Her latest release, the New York Times bestseller How to Menopause: Take Charge of Your Health, Reclaim Your Life, and Feel Even Better than Before (Hachette, 2025), answers the questions too many are afraid to ask and creates a space for support, clarity, and strength through one of life’s biggest transitions.

      <title>Too Young for Hormones?</title>
<description>In today’s episode, Dr. Jila takes on one of the most common and frustrating myths in women's healthcare. The idea that you are too young to be experiencing hormone shifts or to consider hormone therapy. If you have ever left a provider's office feeling dismissed, confused, or told it is just stress, this conversation is for you!

Dr. Jila breaks down what perimenopause can really look like, how it affects women in their thirties and forties, and why so many are left untreated for far too long. From mood swings and brain fog to low energy and loss of motivation, this episode offers clarity, validation, and direction.

You are not too young. You are not imagining it. And you are definitely not alone.

      <title>Why the New Practice</title>
<description>In today’s episode, Dr. Jila Senemar shares the story behind her new concierge practice, Jila MD. After decades of caring for women through every stage of life, she realized the traditional model of care was no longer meeting the needs of midlife women. The quick fifteen minute visits, the lack of time for meaningful conversations, and the narrow definition of wellness simply were not enough.

Dr. Jila explains why she created a space where women can feel truly heard, supported, and cared for in a way that goes beyond routine checkups. From personalized lab work and in-depth assessments to warm, inviting environments designed for real conversations about everything from hormones to sexual health, this episode explores what it means to provide care that actually fits the lives women are living today.

Whether you are navigating perimenopause, looking for a more connected relationship with your provider, or simply want to better understand your health, this episode offers insight, encouragement, and empowerment.

<title>Dr. Google vs. The Truth: Symptoms, Solutions, and Self-Advocacy</title>
<description>In this episode of Her Health, Her Time, Dr. Jila dives into the often-overlooked and misunderstood symptoms of perimenopause and menopause that women in their 30s and 40s may experience. From hot flashes and irregular cycles to fatigue, mood changes, and unexpected sensations like tingling or inflammation, Dr. Jila explores how these symptoms can be mistaken for stress or other conditions.

She emphasizes the importance of tuning into your body, tracking symptoms, and consulting a healthcare provider to uncover the root cause—whether hormonal, nutritional, or otherwise. Dr. Jila also shares a patient story to highlight the challenges of navigating these changes and the fear surrounding hormone therapy.

To empower listeners, she recommends two insightful books, The New Menopause by Dr. Mary Claire Haver and How to Menopause by Tamsen Fadal, as valuable resources for understanding and managing this life stage.
