In this behind the scenes conversation hosted by adventurer Robert Chursinoff, Brian explained how he dreamed up - and then mastered - the unprecedented feat of combining wakeskating and BASE jumping from the world’s highest infinity pool in Dubai.

The American revealed the relentless nature of his training in pursuit of absolute perfection, and how the innovative use of drone technology inspired new waves of possibilities in his sport.

In a video viewed by millions, Brian hoped his creativity and leap into the future would inspire others to think outside the box.

Jumping Off The Worlds Highest Infinity pool

Wakeskating pioneer Brian Grubb was towed by a custom-built drone before launching into a 77-story BASE jump off the side of the highest infinity pool in the world. The American had been dreaming for seven years of combining his two passions for “WakeBASE,” and history was made with the first jump of its kind at the Address Beach Resort in Dubai.

The stunt began with a 94m wakeskate behind a specially engineered drone and culminated in Grubb leaping off a kicker from the pool’s edge and successfully BASE jumping 294m to the beach below.

Explained: World's Longest Ever Ski Jump (New Record)

Ryōyū Kobayashi was used to jumping far, but even for him, the prospect of hanging in the air for 300m and more than eight seconds was a daunting one.

In this behind the scenes conversation hosted by adventurer Robert Chursinoff, Ryōyū discussed the emotional and physical preparation he went through leading up to the record-breaking jump in April 2024.

Key figures in the wider project team on the ground also revealed the weather challenges behind such an audacious attempt, and why the ramp was engineered in Iceland to give Ryōyū the best chance of a successful outcome.

Breaking the world record was the culmination of years of hard work from the boy who grew up in a rural Japanese town — and he wasn’t stopping there. As we heard, Ryōyū wanted to push his limits even further.

World's Longest Ever Ski Jump (New Record)

Japanese ski jumping sensation Ryōyū Kobayashi made history with a gravity-defying 291m leap. Breaking the ski jump and ski flying world records required a hill bigger than standard competition jumps, so Ryōyū and his team headed to Akureyri in northern Iceland to carve out the special kicker.

The Olympic medallist and FIS World Cup ski jump champion flew through the air longer than anyone before and landed perfectly, elevating his sport to new heights and pushing the boundaries of human flight.

Explained: Landing A Plane On A Tiny Helipad

In March 2023, Łukasz Czepiela achieved the seemingly impossible task of landing a plane on a tiny helipad atop the iconic Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel in Dubai. Measuring just 27m in diameter, it was the shortest helipad in the world, and landing on it took far more than just nerve and talent.

In this behind the scenes conversation, Łukasz explained the rigorous training he undertook and the engineering challenges he faced when making this pioneering project a reality. The aerobatic pilot also discussed his early passion for flying growing up in Poland and the inspiring story of how, through perseverance and never giving up, he made his dreams come true.

Landing A Plane On A Tiny Helipad

You need a runway to land a plane, right? Not if your pilot was Łukasz Czepiela. The aerobatic aviator flew into the record books by landing on the world-famous helipad on top of the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel in Dubai. To land on the helipad and stun experts around the world, Łukasz had to bring his plane to a halt in under 27m.

The Polish pilot and his experienced team completed over 650 practice landings and made a number of modifications to his aircraft, reducing the total weight to only 425 kilograms, before the daring attempt on top of the 56-story building.

Explained: Flying Through London's Tower Bridge (World First)

In May 2024, Austrian wingsuit pilots Marco Fürst and Marco Waltenspiel executed a daring jump through London’s iconic Tower Bridge. Wearing the world’s fastest wingsuit, the duo stood on the edge of their helicopter half a mile up in the sky and simply said to each other, “let’s do it.”

In this behind the scenes conversation, the two Marcos explained how they prepared for the groundbreaking project and the impact of their achievement. The human aviation pioneers also discussed their backgrounds, the evolution of wingsuit technology, and the emotional highs and lows of extreme sports.

Flying Through London's Tower Bridge (World First)

Skydivers Marco Fürst and Marco Waltenspiel swooped to a world-first and became the first people to wingsuit fly through London’s iconic Tower Bridge. The Austrian duo reached a top speed of 246 km/h in their dive over the River Thames before performing a complex aerial maneuver known as a ‘flare’ to fly upwards again in close proximity to Tower Bridge and safely open their parachutes. It was a wingsuit flight that pushed the boundaries of human aviation and was only made possible due to the incredible teamwork and collaboration between the athletes.

Game Changers: Standing on the edge of a cliff to realise your dreams - Rhiannan Iffland

Australian cliff diving sensation, Rhiannan “Rhi” Iffland has leapt from hot air balloons, helicopters and plunged into oceans all across the globe. 

But even as a five time world series champion and two time FINA world champion, Rhi says she still experiences fear and sometimes it’s what keeps her safe. 

Rhi began her cliff diving career with a stunning win. In her rookie year – 2016 – she won her first-ever competition as a wildcard entry into the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.

Rhi was hailed as the 'Australian cliff diving sensation' – not only was she the youngest female diver ever to win an event, but she also scored podium places on all of her seven starts.

These achievements are the fruits of the hard work of an athlete who's been practising their sport from early childhood – Rhi began diving at the age of nine and before that she was an avid acrobatic trampolinist

Game Changers: An impossible choice - Jess Rich

Snowboarder and Olympian Jess Rich has had to contend with fear and push past her comfort zone throughout her career.

Jess didn’t grow up in the snow and never dreamt that she’d one day compete in the winter Olympics. 

Jess made her Olympic debut in the new Olympic discipline of women's snowboard Big Air at PyeongChang 2018.

The Sydney-sider, who originally intended to compete in both slopestyle and Big Air, ruptured her ACL only one month before the Games and was forced to sit out of the snowboard slopestyle but was given medical clearance to compete in Big Air.  

Jess was one place shy of qualifying for the final after placing 13th in the qualification runs at PyeongChang; however two clean runs was an impressive performance for the injury recovering Olympic debutant.  

Jess placed seventh in slopestyle at her World Cup debut in 2015. In February 2016, she placed eighth in slopestyle at the Winter Olympic Test Event at Bokwang Park.

Following her top-10 performances she signed her first professional contract with the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia.

She broke into the top-10 an additional four times before she stepped up to the Olympic stage in February 2018.

At the age of 15, after being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer in her right knee, Kelly was forced to make a decision that would change the direction of her life.

In November 2004, faced with the option of amputation or radical surgery to remove the cancer Kelly had her right leg amputated.

After a painstaking 3 months of rehabilitation, she was fitted with a prosthetic leg. Having learnt to walk again, and facing the reality that her netball career was over, she looked for a new direction.

That direction was running.

With a growing passion for running, Kelly’s training intensified in pursuit of her next goal – to be the best above-knee amputee 100m sprinter in the world.

The pilot who flies through tunnels: Dario Costa
