In 1972, Ron Dante recorded this album for Buddha records entitled 'Spiderman: A Rockomic', offering up infectious tunes like 'Goin' Crosstown' interspersed within a storyline. The album music was released under the name The Webspinners, and although those recordings are superb, they sound dated today. Therefore I have played around with some music I think goes well with this story, most of which is from various other Soundtracks and have interspersed snippets of dialogue from the original recording of Spider Man throughout for a more contemporary and funkier experience. The production became denser, the rhymes and beats were elevated to higher levels and the drum machine was augmented with sampling technology which gave rise to a whole new breed of dj's and producers. Back in the mid 90's I made a cassette tape with Soul Coughing on one side and Tribe on the other. This was before I had a portable CD Discman, and the only thing in common these two groups had was that they were alphabetically next to each other in my CD rack.
