S2E02 | Amy Sprangers

In her 25th season with the Seattle Seahawks, Amy Sprangers serves as Chief Revenue Officer. In her role, Amy leads revenue generation across sponsorship, ticketing, suites, and local media rights. She leads passionate, high performing, revenue-driven teams that cultivate authentic, innovative, impactful partnerships and measurably grow both the Seahawks' business and that of its partners.

A Bainbridge Island product, Amy's entrepreneurial spirit, confidence, and competitive spark manifested early - establishing a landscaping business at age six to fund her trips to the local convenience store for bubblegum. Amy received a Bachelors Degree in Speech Communication and Rhetoric at the University of Washington, and spent much of her summers and spare time exploring internships and job opportunities that helped her identify her true areas of interest.

From seaplanes to the SuperSonics, Seafair to the Seahawks, Amy's "happy accident" of working in the sports industry has been "a privilege and a responsibility" - She's never lost sight of the immense platform that is sports. A mother of four, Amy has also kept her eye on balance, being present, and extending grace. Combine that with her data-driven mindset and competitive spark, her team is disrupting the typical sales dynamic and executing big for the organization, partners, and fans.

S2E01 | Jamila Conley

We are kicking off Season 2 of our vodcast with tech exec turned "winepreneur", Jamila Conley. After an accomplished career in tech—leading teams across talent acquisition, mergers & acquisitions, business transformation, and IT—Jamila stepped into a new chapter as CEO and Founder of WeRise Wines, a mission-driven business amplifying access and awareness for diverse wineries and winemakers.

At WeRise Wines, Jamila leverages her extensive business and technology expertise to create a welcoming, richly informative, and inclusive environment. Her vision for WeRise Wines extends far beyond its initial outpost in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood, aiming to revolutionize the wine industry’s accessibility and appeal to diverse markets. Envisioning WeRise as a catalyst for industry-wide change, she plans for further expansions and programs designed to spotlight emerging winemakers, offering them a platform to build and scale their brand within a more diverse consumer base.

Jamila is also a CPA, holds an MBA in Management Information Systems, and is a Certified Information Security Auditor—credentials that speak to her depth and versatility as a leader. But beyond her corporate and entrepreneurial accomplishments, she is a powerful advocate for women and people of color. She founded the first DEI affinity group for the International Women’s Forum Washington chapter, co-authored its Mentoring Playbook, and is a sought-after voice on panels and forums advancing diversity and inclusion.

Jamila is a dynamic and passionate leader who has fine-tuned her horizontal thinking and use of storytelling as key tools in her leadership journey.

S1E12 | Doug Baldwin Jr. Part Two

This episode is a continuation of our conversation with founder, philanthropist, and Seahawks Legend, Doug Baldwin Jr. From a successful career in the National Football League to the founding of several entrepreneurial endeavors and non-profits, the proud husband and father of young daughters is constantly evolving while being guided by his faith and core tenet of "love."

Doug's eight-year career with the Seattle Seahawks included a Super Bowl Championship and multiple Pro Bowl appearances. Playing for two behemoths in football - Jim Harbaugh at Stanford and Pete Carroll at the Seattle Seahawks - Doug solidified his reputation as a dependable receiver and a leader amongst his teammates, and discovered the type of culture he wanted to inspire.

An ultra-competitor, his time on the field was not without its challenges. He learned from the mentors and models throughout his life, absorbed tough love and sage advice from his mom, and is turning the chips on his shoulder into wings.

Following his retirement from the NFL in 2019, Doug shifted focus to social impact as Chief Executive Officer of Vault89 and Founder of the Family First Community Center. With a passion for creating empathic solutions to complex challenges, Doug is a recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Medal of Distinguished Service Award, the youngest ever appointee to the WA State Clemency and Pardons Board, and contributes to sports equity efforts in the Pacific Northwest as co-founder of Champions of Change alongside former teammates Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Paul G. Allen Humanitarian Award at the Seattle Sports Commission's 88th Annual Sports Star of the Year Awards in February 2023.

While Doug is the first to say he is still defining his leadership style, his eternal curiosity, humility, empathy, and competitive spirit are bearing fruit in the personal and professional spaces he enters.

S1E10 | Mary Kipp

This episode features Puget Sound Energy CEO, Mary Kipp. From her off-grid childhood to a career dedicated to overhauling energy systems, Mary has learned the values of curiosity, humility, and how she fills leadership gaps.

Mary Kipp has extensive executive and leadership experience with public companies in the energy services industry, with particular emphasis on energy efficiency and being at the forefront of climate conscious innovation.

The CEO of Puget Sound Energy since January of 2020, Mary is a collaborator who motivates her team to show up as their whole selves with a shared vision of providing quality service to the region in the continuous pursuit of transitioning that service to 100% clean energy... implementing some of the most ambitious climate policies in the nation.

Mary joined PSE from El Paso Electric (EPE), serving in various leadership roles from her start in 2007 to the role of CEO since 2015. She gained extensive knowledge during her tenure by taking on roles throughout the company, including General Counsel, regulatory and rates, risk management, human resources, external affairs, customer care, environmental, and safety. She was the youngest-ever president and became the company's first woman CEO in EPE's 120-year history.

Prior to EPE, Mary was a prosecuting attorney for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for four years, investigating and prosecuting violations of federal energy laws. Mary also worked as a lawyer at El Paso Natural Gas Company and at Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

Mary's leadership style is one of collaboration and humility, with an emphasis on encouraging her team to be good listeners, decision makers, and critical thinkers. She works to foster a culture of hope, and does so while navigating real-world emergencies like wildfires and bomb cyclones.

S1E9 | Megan Jasper

This episode features a dynamo in the music scene, Megan Jasper. Megan has a passion and professional ear for music, which comes in handy as the CEO of Sub Pop Records.

What started as an internship at the record label, which is known for launching artists such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney and a great range of talented artists, flourished into an impressive career in the music industry. As CEO of this quintessential Seattle company, Megan injects her wit, grunge vocabulary, and unique leadership voice into this constantly changing industry.

A self-proclaimed “misfit,” Megan’s music industry experience began at a young age as the co-host of a late-night grunge music radio show. In 1989, Megan landed an internship at Sub Pop Records, and was quickly hired as the label's receptionist. After a few years’ hiatus where she went on the road with the band Dinosaur Jr. and dove into other musical ventures, she returned to the label as Senior Project Manager before being elevated to EVP and now has nine years at the helm as CEO.

Megan strives to create a culture of belonging, and shares how she is embracing the curveballs while continuing to hone her business acumen with the real-world and often wild experiences of the entertainment industry. Her leadership extends beyond the workplace as a board member and advisor for several creative organizations, including youth-led The Vera Project and the city task force that abolished Seattle’s Teen Dance Ordinance. A Seattle Sports Commission Production with support from MetaMora Productions, Inc.
S1E8 | Karen Bryant

This episode features an iconic disruptor of basketball, Karen Bryant.

Karen (colloquially known as "KB") is a professional sports executive who has played a key role in establishing professional women's basketball, with a particularly meaningful impact on Seattle's basketball culture.

Widely acknowledged as a professional sports visionary and community leader, KB has deep roots in Seattle - She started her basketball journey as an athlete at Woodway High, then on to Green River Community College, SeattleU, and the UW.

At just 30(ish) years old, she was recruited by the American Basketball League (ABL) to launch the Seattle Reign of the ABL. After the ABL folded, Karen was hired by the Ackerley family and the Seattle SuperSonics in 1999 to help establish what is now the 4x WNBA Champion Seattle Storm.

An executive leader within the sports industry for over 25 years, Karen spent 15 years with the Seattle Storm, where she served as COO for six years before holding the position of President and CEO for her final seven years with the team. Karen was a crucial member working for both the Sonics and Storm during the now infamous departure of the Sonics and the transition of the Storm to the all-women Force 10 ownership group. Under her guidance as President & CEO, the Storm won the WNBA Championship in 2004 and 2010.

After a successful run with the Storm, Bryant co-founded KB2 Sports, an advisory company focused on growing and advancing women’s sports. Bryant was hired by the Sparks in 2021 as a strategic advisor before taking on the role of Interim President, Business Operations.

KB continues to influence the global sports landscape as an advisor and consultant across a variety of sport organizations, and her list of accolades and philanthropic contributions is seemingly infinite, including being named Sports Executive of the Year at the Seattle Sports Commission's annual Sports Star of the Year Awards.

We, the Game Changers S107 | Sue Rahr

Hosted by Beth Knox, president and CEO of the Seattle Sports Commission, We, The Game Changers series amplifies the unique leadership journeys of people disrupting the status quo and offers insights, inspiration, and actionable advice for anyone looking to grow their leadership skills.

Whether you're an aspiring leader or a seasoned professional, this series will leave you feeling empowered and ready to make a difference. This episode features disruptor Sue Rahr, whose 40+ years in law enforcement significantly influenced modern policing methods both regionally and nationally.

Sue has a storied history of leadership in modern policing, culture change, and recruitment. She helped introduce the "guardian" mindset to policing, and is a lifelong Pete Carroll fan for his leadership approach.

Prior to her most recent role as Seattle's interim Chief of Police, Sue served as King County Sheriff, Executive Director of the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission, and was a member of President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing.

She also served as a member of the “Executive Session on Policing” at the Harvard Kennedy School, and serves as an advisor to many national police reform programs and organizations in addition to her work in the non-profit community.

How she found herself in law enforcement may not have been by original design, but her positive disruption of that industry was no mistake.
