Many memoirs end with courtroom drama. 
Malcom was a rotter says Lydon. Morrissey needs an editor says Lol! 
That’s a complement says Miki – it’s a proper Mills & Boon.  

Miki haunted by Mike Hedges’ old house in France. 
Lol recalls a depressing Disintegration.

Lol loved Miraval. The Slits loved being looked after at Ridge Farm Studios. 
Budgie met Viv again at a Berlin book festival - they had cake and tea and grown-up conversations. 

Miki is happy she had the band but happier in her new job - she’s had the best of both worlds. 
Lol wanted to be present for his son and so no touring thru’ his teens. 
We love writing as much as making music - Lol ran away at the destruction of the band. 
He came to America and America saved him.

1979 – 43 years ago Lol and Budgie first shared a stage, when The Cure and Siouxsie and The Banshees played together at Leicester’s De Montfort Hall in England. Then the largest venue in Leicester, The Beatles also played here just after their return from Hamburg in 1963. 

Bet you didn’t know that – we certainly didn’t! 

What a happy memory, without which we probably wouldn’t be here together today.

The Stranglers on the college juke box for Budgie. For Lol, it was white punks on dope on the college juke box.

Janie Jones was the track for Budgie on The Clash album. The lyrics were it for Budgie. The message was the thing for Budgie and Lol.

Lol's No Change jacket was his Clash clothes. Ian Curtis had a No Future jacket.

Lol danced with Jean Jaques and lived!

They thought Terry Thomas and Ringo Starr would greet them at the airport in London.

Floors we have slept on! An 18-yr old Jennie Vee, made pilgrimage to London, took up bass and guitar and convinced John Peel she had a band.

The truth: There’s no band without a sick drummer!

Budgie did his 10,000 hours at Eric’s Club Liverpool. Budgie’s secret? he sings all his beats and sang himself to sleep to the Beatles. We All love Ringo getting inside the song and the pure joy of drumming. Drumming as a bloodsport!

Lol and Tony Kanal share a moment at The Greek with all Jim’s pals! Jennie Vee says, the greatest feeling is just to rock . Don’t do no crazy riff, just the joy of the moment is all.

The county clerk married Jennie and Jim on Zoom. We plan The big wedding party all star gig!

Lol was married in Vegas. Dick Smothers was next in the line. Budgie got married in Hong Kong.

Ronnie lane bumped into the Cats .Gave them the space in his house to be the band they became .. A hybrid of Punk & New Rockabilly. An emotional moment for Budgie . Still singing the songs. All roads lead to Eddie Cochran!

I.M. Pei designed the museum building after he had seen The Who and Stones. Created a very energetic and emotional structure. The home of America's great art. Lol agrees that the design is suitable. The most relevant museum to people's lives The museum of the people. Lol sees his Let's Go To Bed outfit! In a case!  

The HOF was very emotional and blew Lols mind only 351 Bands in the HOF. Budgie knows the magic language of RnR. The hardest part is, it's such a big story from Punk, Patti Smith and Television. Lol and Budgie pledge to raise money for the new Post Punk annex "maybe it will be named after them, "Lols and Budgie Collection of Curious Creatures "( ?!) Lols brother still listens to John Lee Hooker. Budgie and Lol learned Blues on Sunday lunchtime at the pubs of England. The constant back and forth of the form is The engine. Budgie has the tip of Ringo's drumstick. Played an old banjo, and it became Budgies Excalibur sword!

Greg ran the Philadelphia record exchange. It's still going. The center of the place for our tribe. Even on the internet, record stores are a valuable items. Their connection with live music is vital still. Rock and Roll will never die! Fans know a lot, and they are reservoirs of memory . Post-punk is still loved. Budgies confesses he liked Glen Miller's "in the mood." Budgies knows there's no crying in baseball (only in music). Music condenses time. Get on stage, and you are ageless. Budgie and Lol are still here and thriving. Lols confesses his zombie love. It's all humbling and flattering at the same time. Budgie finds out Howling Wolf's guitar is in the HOF. Budgie recounts the sad story of Joe Strummer's guitar and sings the drums of Tommy Gunn! The jukebox in his head.

She was a 6 year old opera singer. Resplendent in Red in Seattle like a zoo animal. Performing is a chance to let your ID go wild and lose control! Diamanda Galás as example. Budgie and Lol found our tribe in our youth. As did Zola growing up in Wisconsin in the woods. Feeling like an introverted outcast. Making music is like putting out the feelers to find people in common. That’s what music community is about. Music holds communal catharsis. We are in a period of transition - pandemic, politics, change is coming. We’re still hopeful after all these years!

First tour since lockdown was fantastic. Lol remembers his first Specials show in 1979 at Bilzen Festival absolutely spectacular! It was the best show they ever did. Life changing! Utterly mental.

Lol learns backgammon. No Tour games for the Specials. Budgie played subbuteo with The Cult. Banshees played Clue and Yahtzee. The Cure played football and cricket inside the stadium. Bad idea.

The Specials weren’t mates. Two types of groups: mates from School (The Cure) and the guy with a master plan and cherry picked guys (The Specials) Class of 1979 the music was the common thread for the specials. Banshees had a ferocious kind of loyalty. Terry was a punk rocker in the squad

Burning Spear and Marley were the road in for Horace. Budgie remembers The Slits. He knew how to rehearse as did Lol three years for the Cure rehearsal no Christmas for the Smiths - the Cure are banging away in the woodshed.

Middle of the 70’s in England was full of discontent. Music was our salvation. Music is transcendental.

In 1977 Bowies Low and The Clash. Nick Drake miserable and beautiful. The way you get the music wrong is the way you get your own sound. the Skatellites told The Specials 'you play too fast". Garvey’s ghost/Burning Spear and Bob Marley live. Led Zeppelin scared the s*&% out of him.

Horace says he has very little to complain about. The Specials was a great way to see the art galleries of the world. When you're hot, you're hot then you spilt up. Why don’t you take a break? Lol likes being liberated at sixty.

It's mostly about relationships. We find out that The Specials would do any festival The Cure were on because we had a proper guitar tuner. Still best of mates all these years later!

People still like our band's music all these years later. Ancient history. It's just weird? Bugger all else to do so we plundered a lot of different music. Whats a wooly back? A sheep in wolf's clothing. Paul Rutherford in radical Pajamas. Band names had to be short to write on yer gasbag. Until Punk, music life was unobtainable, Punk said you don't need any of that. Will's book is a social history. It's Brilliant: Kirby = Crawley. Will explains the "Cure "photo in his book. Wills brother thought the Cure were the Bunnymen! We had identical suits, perhaps? MVCU, where Budgie was happy to spray the door. Boris makes a surprise appearance on the show! One night of madness in Crawley, like being in the trenches.

Will saw the Cure, Passions, and Associates in Liverpool Erics. All bands played Erics despite the beer swamp and low ceiling. It was a big deal when Budgie left Liverpool. Budgies gone, what are we going to do? Grist for the mill works.
