Leaders Racing Santander lost again, this time more dramatically than ever, from 2-0 up to losing 6-2 against FC Andorra, are they falling to pieces?

Almeria and Las Palmas left it late to win, as did Malaga to equalise in Riazor against Depor. Burgos and Eibar keep on the play off pressure. Cordoba tasted victory again after 8 games without a win, beating Cadiz, who continue to sink towards danger. Cultural won the derbi and Mirandes beat Real Zaragoza to make it tighter than ever down the bottom.

For the second week running leaders Racing Santander lost, this time to relegation threatened Real Zaragoza. Almeria capitalised, brushing past Real Sociedad B but nobody else in the top six won. Burgos a major winner as they won their Derby against Real Valladolid and jumped in as a result. It went from bad to worse for Cultural Leonesa and Huesca whilst Pacheta’s Granada are making noises about the playoffs, they’ll have to get past Eibar and Ceuta first.

This week 2nd placed CD Castellon hosted a depleted leader in Racing Santander and found themselves blown away, 3-0 down at half time as Racing extended their lead at the top. Las Palmas were back to winning ways themselves blowing away Cultural Leonesa in Ruben de Barrera’s second dugout debut at the club. Ruben Selles got the sack at Real Zaragoza, there was an Andalusian derbi, drama in the Basque country and much much more.

Racing Santander have spent 16 of the 26 match days this season So far as leader, but this week following their defeat to Eibar and Castellon’s victory of Depor, we have a new leader at the top of the division as Pablo Hernandez has taken Castellon from the relegation zone to top of that table in 21 games. Down the bottom there was a good win for Huesca and a point a piece for Mirandes, cultural and real Zaragoza which does little to help any of them. There was plenty of refereeing controversy once again this week and we also saw the departure of Luis Tevenet at Real Valladolid following their 5-1 defeat to Granada.

This week saw Racing Santander revert to type, after beating Depor the week before they lost to a team in the relegation battle to give hope to the rest. Castellon, Depor, Almeria, Cordoba and Burgos closed the gap, so with Malaga still yet to play at the time of recording it was only Las Palmas in the top 8 who didn’t take full advantage, although they did edge slightly closer with a draw.

Breaking the deadlock Part 2

We were blessed this week with two all top six clashes, the demolition of Las Palmas in El Sardinero broke the deadlock at the top whilst simultaneously creating another deadlock between second and third as CD Castellon kept moving on up. Depor tasted victory for the first time since November in the other all top six clash.

This week was another bad one for teams at the top, unless you play in yellow, that is, with three of the top four dropping points and the leaders Racing Santander having their lead at the top cut from 4 to 3 points. Momentum is Everything Part 2

This weekend in Segunda the automatic promotion chasers at the top separated out a little, for now at least, as two won and two dropped points. CD Castellon and Ceuta have catapulted themselves into top 6 contention with a string of results, whilst down the bottom, 9 points adrift just a few weeks ago, Real Zaragoza are now just 3 from safety following 3 wins in a row.

We aim to pack as much of that into the two main shows this week.

This weekend in Segunda the teams at the top continued to set a blistering pace as 4 of the top 5 won. We also saw Segunda become the European leader in managerial sacking as Pellicer left at Malaga and Ibai Gomez of Andorra was also given his marching orders, with a few more on the brink. We even saw a second victory in two weeks for Real Zaragoza, with ten men.

Levante Champions, Elche Promoted, Granada Miss Out

One Last Gasp Promotion Golazo

One match day to go, and the little matter of automatic promotion was sealed this weekend as Levante were promoted thanks to a 97th minute goalzo from Carlos Alvarez.

The relegation was also signed sealed and delivered following Real Zaragoza's win in their last ever game in La Romareda which condemned Eldense to the drop.

Racing Santander couldn't seal a playoff spot but will get one more chance next weekend against play off chasers Granada as it is two teams from three with Almeria currently 6th.

We also welcome to teams back to Segunda, Cultural Leonesa via promotion and the other, Leganes, who were relegated from LaLiga.

The Late Late Show

Multi Goal Madness

Match day 41, the penultimate match day of the regular season in Segunda and at the start of it, still not one single issue was resolved - nobody automatically promoted, play off places still up for grabs all the way down to 11th position, nobody mathematically relegated and only 3 teams safe - there were, at the start of the evening 8 teams at threat of relegation.
A crazy evening that ebbed and flowed resulted in the promotion of Real Valladolid and waving goodbye to FC Andorra, AD Alcorcon and Villarreal B.
We go into the final game of the season with one automatic promotion spot to be resolved, 3 teams fighting for the final 2 play off spots and a relegation head to head between CD Mirandes and Amorebieta.

Refusing to Lie Down
