WHO IS MARK BRELAND? Mark Anthony Breland (born May 11, 1963) is an American retired world champion boxer who won five New York Golden Gloves titles, surpassing Sugar Ray Robinson for the most wins in the history of the Golden Gloves. He is currently in 6 Halls of Fame: The Connecticut Boxing Hall of Hame, The New York State Boxing Hall of Hame, The New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame, The Golden Gloves Hall of Fame, The African American Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame, and The USA Boxing Olympics Alumni Association Hall of Fame. Additionally, Breland received The 2018 Emanuel Steward Trainer of the Year Award. Breland is notably the only amateur boxer to have ever graced the cover of Ring magazine, and the only amateur whose picture hangs in Colorado Springs U.S. Olympic Training Center. The Smithsonian Museum for African American History and Culture in Washington, DC displays an honorary picture of Mark Breland in recognition of his achievements. Mark Breland won a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics, was awarded the 1982 Boxer of the Year by USAABF,[1] and rated #1 amateur welterweight in the world by AIBA in 1984.[2] He later became an actor with a wide range of movie and television credits, having made his debut in The Lords of Discipline, and also appeared in the music video for The Pointer Sisters' 1985 hit single, "Dare Me." Duke McKenzie, MBE (born 5 May 1963) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1982 to 1998.

He is a three-weight world champion, having held the IBF flyweight title from 1988 to 1989; the WBO bantamweight title from 1991 to 1992; and the WBO junior-featherweight title from 1992 to 1993. At regional level he held the British flyweight title from 1985 to 1988; the European flyweight title from 1986 to 1988; and the British featherweight title from 1993 to 1994. After retiring from the sport, McKenzie has worked as a boxing commentator for broadcaster ITV. Flyweight He won the British flyweight title (5 June 1985) with a fourth round stoppage over Danny Flynn. He later defended this against Charlie Magri (20 May 1986) and added Magri's European flyweight title. Both titles were relinquished when McKenzie won the IBF flyweight Title on 5 October 1988 with an 11th-round knockout over Rolando Bohol. After two title defences and one non-title, McKenzie lost the IBF flyweight title to Dave McAuley on 7 June 1989 in his first defeat. Bantamweight An unsuccessful challenge for the European (EBU) Bantamweight title on 30 September 1990 saw McKenzie lose to Thierry Jacob of France. On 30 June 1991 McKenzie became a world champion for a second time, winning the WBO bantamweight title with a 12-round decision over Gaby Canizales. This was lost to Rafael Del Valle on 13 May 1992 when McKenzie suffered his first knockout loss, in the first round. Super bantamweight On 15 October 1992 McKenzie became a three-weight world champion, beating Jesse Benavides after twelve rounds for the WBO Super Bantamweight title. On 9 June 1993, Daniel Jimenez beat McKenzie on points, in his first defence of this title. Featherweight On 18 December 1993 McKenzie became a four-weight regional champion, beating John Davison for the British Featherweight title. An attempt to become world champion at this division ended in a knockout loss to Steve Robinson on 1 October 1994. McKenzie's next fight was an unsuccessful challenge for Mehdi Labdouni's European featherweight title. McKenzie's last fight, in March 1998, saw him lose in farcical circumstances in the first round to 4-4 Santiago Rojas.

Who Is Anthony Yarde? Yarde began boxing at a relatively late age and only had twelve amateur fights prior to turning professional. In May 2015, he made his professional debut with a second-round knockout (KO) victory over Mitch Mitchell. After compiling a record of 10–0 (9 KOs) he captured the Southern Area light-heavyweight title, dropping reigning champion Chris Hobbs to the canvas six times en route to a fourth-round technical knockout (TKO) victory on 20 May 2017 at the Copper Box Arena in London. Two months later he defeated Richard Baranyi via first-round TKO on 8 July at the Copper Box Arena, capturing the WBO European light-heavyweight title. He was scheduled to face Canadian boxer Ryan Ford, a former mixed martial artist, on 16 September 2017 for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental light-heavyweight title. Nobert Nemesapati was brought in as a replacement after Ford pulled out of the bout. After dropping his opponent to the canvas twice in the second round, Yarde captured his second regional title—retaining his WBO European title in the process—with a third-round stoppage via corner retirement (RTD). He made three defences of his WBO regional titles and a further two defences of his WBO Inter-Continental title, winning all five by stoppage, before challenging Sergey Kovalev for the WBO light-heavyweight title on 24 August 2019 at the Traktor Sport Palace in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Yarde suffered the first defeat of his professional career, losing by TKO in the eleventh round. Yarde seemed comfortable in the early rounds, staying out of range and keeping Kovalev at bay with speed and movement. After six rounds of an even, back and forth contest, Yarde began landing accurate hooks to Kovalev's body in the seventh and eighth rounds that appeared to hurt the champion. In the last minute of the eighth, Yarde landed a straight-right to the head of Kovalev which had the veteran in trouble. Yarde followed up with an accurate salvo of power punches but was unable to capitalise, allowing the visibly hurt Kovalev to stay on his feet for the remainder of the round. After his success in the seventh and eighth rounds, Yarde appeared to tire and lose momentum in the ninth, allowing Kovalev to take control of the fight with combination punches and stiff jabs that began to frequently land on Yarde. The tenth round saw much of the same. In the final 20 seconds of the round, after being backed up against the ropes by Kovalev and being on the receiving end of a flurry of punches with no reply, Yarde was seemingly saved by the bell, which appeared to ring 8 seconds before the end of the round. In round eleven, sensing Yarde's fatigue, Kovalev upped the pressure and increased his punch output, eventually dropping Yarde with a spearing left-jab to win the fight by knockout. At the time of the stoppage, all three judges had Kovalev ahead with the scorecards reading 98-92, 97-94 and 96-93. In a post-fight interview with Steve Bunce for BT Sport, Kovalev praised Yarde's defence and boxing IQ, insisting Yarde will "100%" be a world champion in the future.

Vasyl Anatoliyovych Lomachenko (Ukrainian: Василь Анатолійович Ломаченко, IPA: [wɐˈsɪlʲ lomɐˈtʃɛnko]; also spelled Vasiliy; born 17 February 1988) is a Ukrainian professional boxer. He is a former world champion in three weight classes, having held the WBO featherweight title from 2014 to 2015; the WBO junior-lightweight title from 2016 to 2017; and the unified WBA (Super), WBC, WBO and Ring magazine lightweight titles between 2018 to October 2020. Lomachenko is one of the most successful amateur boxers of all time, possessing a record of 396 wins and 1 losses, with his only loss avenged twice. Competing in the featherweight and lightweight divisions, he won a silver medal at the 2007 World Championships, gold at the 2008 European Championships, consecutive gold at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and consecutive gold at the 2009 and 2011 World Championships. He is known for his exceptional hand speed, timing, accuracy, creativity, athleticism, defense and footwork. Lomachenko made his professional debut in 2013. He ties the record with Saensak Muangsurin for winning a world title in the fewest professional fights, winning the WBO featherweight title in his third fight. All of his professional fights except the debut were world championship fights. He made his first main event in the second professional fight. He has won several awards by media outlets throughout his career. The Ring and ESPN named him Prospect of the Year in 2013; CBS Sports named him Boxer of the Year in 2016; HBO Sports named him Boxer of the Year in 2016 and in 2017; the Boxing Writers Association of America and The Ring named him Fighter of the Year in 2017. As of May 2020, he is ranked as the world's best active boxer, pound for pound, by ESPN; second by the Boxing Writers Association of America and The Ring; third by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board (TBRB); and ninth BoxRec. He is also ranked as the world's best active lightweight by BoxRec, the TBRB and ESPN.

WHO IS TEOFIMO LOPEZ?

López signed with Top Rank in October 2016, and made his debut on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas fight in November of the same year. He announced himself to the world stage in December 2018, by beating veteran Mason Menard via a knockout of the year candidate. In his next fight, Lopez, already ranked #9 by the WBA, #11 by the WBC and #10 by the WBO, faced another boxing veteran in Diego Magdaleno, another fight that ended in a brutal knockout for the Honduran. He attracted some controversy after his exuberant celebration with Magdaleno still down on the canvas. On July 19, 2019, Lopez who was ranked #4 by the IBF at the time, fought undefeated Japanese boxer Masayoshi Nakatani, who was ranked #3 by the IBF in a final eliminator for the IBF World Lightweight title. He won the fight by unanimous decision and went on to challenge IBF titlist Richard Commey. Lopez won the IBF title in spectacular fashion after connecting on Commey with a big right hand, and finishing him with a second round TKO. Unified lightweight champion Main article: Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Teófimo López In September 2020, Lopez agreed to fight WBO, WBA and WBC (franchise) champion, Vasiliy Lomachenko, on October 17 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It was the first major fight since the COVID-19 pandemic. With no live audience, Lopez beat the Ukrainian by unanimous decision to unify the lightweight division and maintain his unbeaten record.

WHO IS JAMIE MOORE?

Jamie Moore (born 4 November 1978) is a British boxing trainer and former professional boxer who competed from 1999 to 2010. He held the British and Commonwealth super welterweight titles twice between 2003 and 2007, and the EBU European super welterweight title in 2009 In 2018 Moore was awarded trainer of the year after winning multiple titles as a trainer with a bunch of talented fighters including Carl Frampton, Rocky Fielding and more. Moore is going from strength to strength in his career as a boxing trainer, with the likes of Carl Frampton, Tommy Coyle, Martin Murray, Rocky Fielding and most recently Jack Catterall all linking up with him and Nigel Travis at the VIP Gym in Astley in the last few months.[2] His current stable in 2019 includes Amir Khan, Tyson Fury, Carl Frampton, Tommy Coyle, Steven Ward, Martin Murray, Rocky Fielding, Jack Catterall, Aqib Fiaz, Chantelle Cameron, Sean McGoldrick, Dave Allen and Marc Leach.

WHO IS ALISTAIR OVEREEM?

Alistair Cees Overeem (born 17 May 1980) is a Dutch mixed martial artist and former kickboxer. He is a former Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, DREAM Heavyweight Champion, K-1 World Grand Prix Champion, and one of only two fighters to hold world titles in both MMA and K-1 kickboxing at the same time. He holds dual victories over Fabrício Werdum, Mark Hunt and Vitor Belfort, and has also beaten former UFC champions Andrei Arlovski, Junior dos Santos, Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar. As of September 3, 2020, he is #5 in the UFC heavyweight rankings. After much speculation, on 6 September 2011, it was announced that Overeem had signed a contract with the UFC, and that his first fight would be against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar on 30 December 2011 at UFC 141. The lead up to the fight was rife with controversy. In November 2011, both competitors were required by the NSAC to comply with out-of-competition drug testing. Lesnar delivered his sample screen on 21 November, while Overeem delivered his on 23 November. The screen, however, did not meet the standards of the commission. Overeem submitted a second test through his personal physician – which was also deemed unacceptable – before flying out of the country. Overeem was ultimately given a conditional license for the fight by the committee during a meeting held on 12 December 2011. On 30 December 2011, at UFC 141, Overeem made his UFC debut in the main event against Brock Lesnar. Overeem hurt Lesnar multiple times early on with knees to the body, and went on to finish the fight with a kick to the liver and subsequent punches at 2:26 of the first round. The victory earned him a heavyweight title shot against champion Junior dos Santos.

Adam Booth-managed Shannon Courtenay was the red hot favourite when the super-bantamweight fight was announced but Ball was slowly backed once fans read up on her pedigree. The three-time kickboxing world champion started sensationally with a first round knockdown but Courtenay showed true grit and seemed to roar back into the lead. But referee Howard Foster shocked the few staff inside Eddie Hearn’s back garden when he picked the away fighter 77-75. The flame-haired marathon runner and down-to-earth girl could not beat back tears as she said: “Most of my fellow social workers, who I work with, only found out I box this afternoon so thanks to them for all their late support. “I hardly ever cry but I am so happy, it means everything for me. “It was a closer fight than I wanted but I got the win and I want to move on to big things now, I dream of a world title.” Courtenay started the opener well, jabbing to the body because towering Ball’s head was seven inches above hers. The Watford woman backed Ball up toward the end of the first and landed a right hand from a crouched position. But Ball connected with a peach of a left hook that dropped the 27-year-old who was struggling in the first fair fight of her career. Courtenay, 27, to her total credit battled her way back into the contest in the second, stalking and tagging Ball around the ring. Ball’s rangey one-twos scored again a few times at the start of the third but Courtenay remained relentless and marched her down, bobbing away from the jab and rising with hooks. Sensational slugfests ensued in the fourth, fifth and sixth with a breathless Courtenay demanding to know how her corner was scoring it and they had good news for her after plenty of clever head movement and bullish boxing. When the Bell rang, it was assumed that Courtenay would get the home decision but Ball had her arm raised by Foster. And the most emotionally charged interview of boxing's comeback followed with Ball reminding the British boxing world what a Rocky story looks like.

WHO IS JOSEPH PARKER?

Joseph Dennis Parker, OM (born 9 January 1992), is a New Zealand professional boxer of Samoan heritage. He held the WBO heavyweight title from 2016 to 2018, and previously multiple regional heavyweight championships including the WBO Oriental, Africa, and Oceania titles; as well as the PABA, OPBF, and New Zealand titles. As an amateur he represented New Zealand at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the super-heavyweight division, and narrowly missed qualification for the 2012 Summer Olympics. Parker turned professional in July 2012 with Duco Events in Auckland, under the tutelage of Sir Bob Jones. After defeating Andy Ruiz for the vacant WBO title, Parker became the first heavyweight boxer from either New Zealand or the Pacific Islands to win a major world championship. As of August 2019, he is ranked as the world's eighth best active heavyweight by The Ring magazine and ninth by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board (TBRB). During his reign as WBO champion, he reached a peak active heavyweight ranking of third by the TBRB.

WHO IS SHAKUR STEVENSON? Ash-Shakur Nafi-Shahid Stevenson (born June 28, 1997) is an American professional boxer who held the WBO featherweight title from 2019 to July 2020. As an amateur, Stevenson represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in the bantamweight division. Stevenson turned professional on February 9, 2017 signing a promotional contract with Top Rank. He signed Andre Ward as his manager. Bob Arum told Ringtv that Stevenson would likely make his debut on a stacked card at the StubHub Center in Carson, California on April 22, 2017. Stevenson showed off his quickness, defense and punching skills as he won his first professional fight against American boxer Edgar Brito. Stevenson won via fifth round technical decision. Brito was cut on the left eye after an accidental headbutt in round 2. In round 3, he was deducted a point for intentionally headbutting Stevenson. From his own intentional headbutts, Brito suffered a cut over his right eye. The ringside physician stopped the bout. Stevenson was ahead on all three judges scorecards and won every round. In an official press release on May 3, it was confirmed that Stevenson would make his Madison Square Garden debut on undercard of the Crawford vs. Díaz world light welterweight championship fight on May 20, 2017. His opponent was announced as Argentine boxer Carlos Suarez (6-3-2, 1 KO).Stevenson won the bout after 2 minutes and 35 seconds of the first round. Suarez was knocked down before the stoppage. Stevenson's third bout took place at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, again on the undercard of Terrence Crawford, this time his unification fight against Julius Indongo on August 19, 2017. Stevenson fought his second straight Argentine opponent, David Michel Paz (4-3) in a scheduled six-round fight. Stevenson easily outpointed Paz over 6 rounds winning 60-53 on all three scorecards. In round 5, Paz was knocked down following a straight left. Stevenson seemed comfortable and patient in letting the fight go the distance. On November 20, Top Rank confirmed 26-year-old Mexican Oscar Mendoza (4-2, 2 KOs) as Stevenson's opponent, which would take place on the undercard of Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux on December 9, 2017 at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City, New York. Stevenson's first fight for 2018 was announced on February 7 to take place at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino's Grand Theater in Reno, Nevada on February 16 against Juan Tapia (8-1, 3 KOs) in a scheduled 8 round bout. Stevenson easily outpointed Tapia, winning 80-72 on all three judges' scorecards. Stevenson showed defensive improvements in the fight, boxed with his jab and worked to the body. He used the distance well, allowing Tapia to land only one punch at a time.

WHO IS UMAR SADIQ? Super Middleweight boxer Umar Top Boxer Sadiq is fast making a name for himself both inside and outside of the ring. In 2017 the Top Boxer swapped calculators and spread sheets when he left his highly paid accountancy job in London to turn professional signing a long term promotional contract with Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren. The Nigerian born fighter that moved to London when he was 12, also works as a model rubbing shoulders with the likes of David Beckham and playing Anthony Joshua’s double in high profile TV ads. His love for boxing begun when he took part in a boxercise session organised by former Welterweight Tony Cesay in a local community centre at the age of 16. Sadiq quickly became a feared opponent on the amateur scene being crowned a two time Haringey Boxcup Champion, English Champion, triple Northeast London Champion and Nigerian Champion. His amateur dream was to represent Nigeria at the Olympic Games and that almost become reality when he made the final qualifiers as part of the Nigerian 2016 Olympic Team. WHO IS LERRONE RICHARDS? New Malden’s Lerrone Richards is a master at range. He fights at the right distance to suit his style where he can flash out his fast jabs and one-twos. When his opponents try to close the gap, they get greeted with a southpaw-stance right hook to the left of their head. Trained by Alan Smith and Eddie Lamm out of the thriving iBox Gym in Bromley, he is patient and skilled, with great feet and movement. Because he boxes on the outside at range and mostly on the backfoot, he doesn’t generate the power to really hurt his foes, although he does wear them down over the rounds and cause them to look ragged. That’s probably due to them persistently chasing him around the ring all fight. He does have a tendency to showboat and drop his right arm down low when he feels he’s in control, which he mostly is during his fights. He very rarely puts more than two or three punches together at a time, which causes some critics to call him lazy. Even in the final round, Richards will still be skipping around the ring popping out his jab and one-twos and looking as fresh as the first round. Just like Sadiq, he was also an amateur champion, winning nine national titles when representing Repton, amassing a fine record of 82-9. However having dominated his Russian opponent the judges shock decision left his dream in tatters. Outside of the ring the Top Boxer is leading the way in how a professional athlete engages with sports fans and the wider general public. Since turning professional Sadiq has consistently produced fun and insightful video content believing that the onus falls on his own shoulders to actively promote himself and boxing. In 2018 the “Top Boxer Vlog” was launched on YouTube which is an unfiltered series of videos that documents the lifestyle of a boxer that is rapidly rising through the professional ranks.

Nelson defended the title against thirteen different fighters, more than any other cruiserweight in history, and holds a joint-record of most consecutive cruiserweight title defenses (along with Marco Huck). Nelson also held the British cruiserweight title twice between 1989 and 1997, and the European cruiserweight title twice between 1990 and 1998. Craig Richards & Shakan Pitters join our hosts Tunde Ajayi & Spencer Fearon on the Fight Is Right. We hear all the details from both sides as to why their previous fight was cancelled. Then each fighter tells our hosts why they think they will win. It's fair to say it got pretty heated! Who is Craig Richards? Richards made his professional debut on 28 May 2015, scoring a first-round technical knockout (TKO) victory over a scheduled four rounds against James Child at the York Hall in London. He ended 2015 with a points decision (PTS) win against Scott Douglas in October. He tallied up another five wins in 2016; Kieron Gray on PTS in January;[4] a TKO over Richard Horton in June; Dalton Miller[6] and Adam Jones by PTS in September; and a TKO over Bronislav Kubin in November. On 17 March 2017, Pitters fought for his first professional title, winning via ten-round unanimous decision (UD) against Alan Higgins at the York Hall to capture the Southern Area super-middleweight. He secured a PTS win against Rui Pavanito in July and a TKO win over Norbert Szekeres in October. Two days after his win over Szekeres, Callum Johnson pulled out of his British and Commonwealth light-heavyweight unification fight with Frank Buglioni. Pitters was brought in as a last minute opponent at five days notice. The fight took place on 28 October at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, and was aired live on Sky Sports Box Office as part of the undercard for Anthony Joshua vs. Carlos Takam. Pitters suffered the first defeat of his professional career, losing by UD over twelve rounds. Two judges scored the bout 117–111 while the third scored it 116–113. Pitters came back with three stoppage wins in 2018; Ivan Stupalo in March; Bosko Misic in June; and Michal Ludwiczak in October. He began 2019 with a third-round TKO win against Alan Ball to capture the vacant WBA Intercontinental light-heavyweight title. The bout took place on 2 February at The O2 Arena in London. He had two more fights that year; a twelve-round UD victory against Andre Sterling in June and an eight-round draw against Chad Sugden in December. Who is Shakkan Pitters? Pitters made his professional debut on 18 March 2017 as a cruiserweight, scoring a four-round points decision (PTS) victory over Remigijus Ziausys at the Holte Suite in Villa Park, Birmingham. He secured three more PTS victories in 2017; Over Jevgenijs Andrejevs in June; Dmitrij Kalinovskij in September; and Jiri Svacina in November. He began 2018 with a PTS win over Elvis Dube in March, followed by stoppage wins over Kent Kauppinen in May and Imantas Davidaitis in September. In August, Pitters was announced as a contestant in the second edition of the Ultimate Boxxer tournament. The eight-man tournament was contested over 3 rounds, taking place on 2 November at the indigo at The O2 in London. Pitters' first fight of the night came against Sam Smith, winning by unanimous decision (UD), with two judges scoring the bout 30–25 and the third scoring it 29–26. Next up he defeated Georgii Bacon via second-round knockout (KO). His final fight of the night was a UD win against Dec Spelman with scores of 30–26 twice and 29–27, becoming the Ultimate Boxxer II champion. Following his success in the Ultimate Boxxer, Pitters kicked off 2019 with a first-round KO victory against Norbert Szekeres in March and a six-round PTS win against Dmitrij Kalinovksij in May. His final fight of 2019 was a rematch against newly crowned English light-heavyweight champion Dec Spelman. The bout took place on 14 September 2019 at the York Hall in London, with Pitters defeating Spelman via UD over ten rounds to capture his first professional title. All three judges scored the bout 97–92.

Mike McCallum (born 7 December 1956) is a Jamaican former professional boxer who competed from 1981 to 1997. He held world championships in three weight classes, including the WBA super welterweight title from 1984 to 1988, the WBA middleweight title from 1989 to 1991, and the WBC light heavyweight title from 1994 to 1995. A slick, hard-hitting technician in the ring, McCallum was known for his exceptionally durable chin and toughness, and was never stopped in any of his five losses. He earned his nickname of "The Bodysnatcher" due to his ability to land vicious body punches in fights. McCallum was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2003. In 2011, The Ring magazine ranked him as eighth on their list of the "10 best middleweight title holders of the last 50 years." Mike McCallum turned professional in 1981. As a professional, he fought almost exclusively in the USA. He first became a world champion in 1984 by defeating Sean Mannion to win the vacant WBA super welterweight title. McCallum would defend that title six times, winning all six fights by knock out. His first prominent opponent was future two-weight world champion and future fellow International Boxing Hall of Fame member Julian Jackson, whom McCallum fought in his third title defense. McCallum survived some punishment in the first round and came back to stop the undefeated Jackson in the second round. McCallum really came to prominence when he knocked out former WBC welterweight title-holder Milton McCrory and former undisputed world welterweight champion, another future International Boxing Hall of Fame member, Donald Curry in 1987. Curry was ahead on all three scorecards going into the fifth round when McCallum knocked him out with what some have called a "perfect" left hook. In 1988, he moved up to middleweight, suffering his first defeat, a clear unanimous decision, in an attempt to win the WBA middleweight championship from Sumbu Kalambay. In 1989, McCallum defeated Herol Graham by a split decision to win the then-vacant WBA middleweight title (which had been stripped from Kalambay for signing to face IBF champion Michael Nunn). He defended the title three times, defeating Steve Collins, Michael Watson, and Kalambay in a rematch. McCallum fought IBF middleweight champion James Toney in 1991. McCallum was stripped of the WBA title before the bout. The fight ended in a draw, and McCallum lost the second fight by a controversial majority decision the following year. Some felt that McCallum won both fights. McCallum then moved up two weight divisions and won the WBC interim light heavyweight title against Randall Yonker, then won the full WBC title by outpointing Jeff Harding in 1994. Being in his late thirties, he did not hold the crown long, losing the title to Fabrice Tiozzo. At 40 years of age, he attempted to regain the vacant Interim WBC title against Roy Jones Jr in December 1996, but lost by a wide decision.
