The Review Show: Spurs 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

Our Europa League quarter-final tie with Eintracht Frankfurt remains in the balance following an entertaining 1-1 draw in the first leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Although we deserved more on the night after a dominant performance against the side placed third in the Bundesliga, we had to settle for the draw after Pedro Porro’s clever flick cancelled out Hugo Ekitike’s early opener for the German side.

We twice hit the crossbar through Lucas Bergvall's long-ranger and Rodrigo Bentancur's header before Eintracht’s goalkeeper Kaua Santos made three top saves to deny Heung-Min Son, James Maddison and Micky van de Ven amongst a hatful of chances, giving us plenty of hope it will start to fall our way in Frankfurt next Thursday.

All eyes on the Europa League 👀

Our European adventure continues tonight as our knockout journey begins with an away trip to AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of our round of 16 tie with a place in the quarter-finals at stake. In a repeat of Matchday Three in the league phase of the competition, where Richarlison's spot-kick shortly after half-time proved enough to edge out our Dutch opponent 1-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in October, we'll be looking to come away with an advantage before the second leg in N17 next week.

It's then a short turnaround to the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, as Andoni Iraola's Bournemouth side travel to north London with both sides eager to return to winnings ways in the top flight as we look to close the gap on the likes of the Cherries sitting above us in the table.

The Review Show: Spurs 1-2 Newcastle

Our first outing in 2025 ended in a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United despite a battling and spirited performance that deserved better.

Having to contend with a long injury list and an illness which swept through the squad this week, we produced a display full of character and commitment, with Academy graduate Brandon Austin producing an assured performance between the sticks on his competitive debut at 25 years old.

A fast start saw Dominic Solanke bag the opener and our first goal of the calendar year with a superb diving header just four minutes in before the away side hit back through Anthony Gordon two minutes later, with Alexander Isak rounding off the scoreline on 38 minutes.

We were the dominant team throughout most of the second half, Brennan Johnson hitting the upright and Solanke going close again with another couple of headers but we just couldn’t fashion that one chance to equalise.

A late equaliser denied us victory as we ended 2024 with a 2-2 draw against Wolves in the Premier League.

Having fallen behind to an early Hwang Hee-Chan opener for the visitors, we showed great resolve to battle back and lead by half-time through Rodrigo Bentancur and, although Heung-Min Son saw a penalty saved by Jose Sa, Brennan Johnson in first-half stoppage-time. Just when it looked like we were going to hold out for a much-needed victory, Wolves substitute Jorgen Strand Larsen scored an 87th-minute leveller and we had to settle for a point.

A Sunday afternoon goal-fest ended in disappointment at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Liverpool ran out 6-3 winners in our final game before Christmas.

The visitors took an early hold on the contest with goals from Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister and, although we hit back through a fine James Maddison strike, Liverpool led 3-1 at half-time after Dominik Szoboszlai scored in first-half stoppage time. Mohamed Salah struck twice in seven second-half minutes before we we rallied through Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke although any hopes of a famous comeback were extinguished by Diaz's double to see it end 6-3.

Goalscorer Dejan Kulusevski and goalkeeper Fraser Forster rescued an important point away to Rangers in the Europa League.

In what was always going to be a passionate all-British cup tie, plus the added element of former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou returning to Glasgow, we had to survive some difficult spells in a raucous Ibrox Stadium.

After a goalless first half, the home side edged ahead shortly after the interval through Hamza Igamane but we weathered the storm to level it up in the 75th minute courtesy of an excellent team goal finished by the bang in-form Sweden international who was introduced at the break.

Rangers went closest to a winner in the closing stages through Cyriel Dessers but ex-Celtic man Forster - who was booed throughout the contest - produced the save of the night to see us come away with a point.

A stoppage-time equaliser denied us victory in an entertaining but ultimately frustrating Europa League 2-2 draw with AS Roma on Thursday night.

After Heung-Min Son converted his fifth-minute penalty to open his account in Europe this season, we were pegged back when Evan N’Dicka headed home only to take a lead into the break courtesy of Brennan Johnson’s 10th goal of the season.

Both sides had plenty of chances and hit the woodwork in the second half but, just after Fraser Forster had pulled off an unreal stop to look like he had saved the three points in stoppage time, Mats Hummels struck late from close-range to see the points shared in N17.

It's gone all festive on Inside Spurs this week as our Europa League tie against AS Roma on Thursday night kicks off a packed winter schedule that sees us then host Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

With our Italian opponents in town, who better to speak to than Italy international Destiny Udogie as we look ahead to matchday five targeting a win to get us back on track in Europe.

James Maddison had a 28th birthday to remember as his first-half brace set us on our way to a 4-0 victory of the ages to return to winning ways in the Premier League at Manchester City!

Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson added to the tally in the second half to administer our second win over Pep Guardiola's side in less than a month following our home triumph in the Carabao Cup recently. It also marked the first time since 1959 that we've won at both Manchester clubs, having already beaten United 3-0 at Old Trafford, in the league during the same season.

Impressive rearguard action with Guglielmo Vicario making saves and marshalled superbly by Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin at centre-back led to our 350th Premier League clean sheet and contributed to City's biggest ever league defeat at the Etihad Stadium, marking the end of their two-year, 52-match unbeaten record at the venue. It was also their worst home league defeat since 2003.

Ipswich Town take the points on a disappointing afternoon at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sammie Szomdics and Liam Delap netted in the first half to put the away side in a commanding position and, although we’d fought back to win our previous three league home matches after conceding first, there was no repeat this time around.

Rodrigo Bentancur halved the deficit with a bullet header in the 69th minute, but we didn’t put the Ipswich goal under enough pressure in the closing stages and they held out for their first Premier League win of the season and first in 22 years. We head into the international break 10th in the table, albeit just three points off the top four.

The Review Show: Galatasaray 3-2 Spurs

A frenetic and, at times, crazy game in Istanbul gave us our first taste of defeat in this season’s UEFA Europa League as we went down 3-2 at Galatasaray.

It was a mixed night for teenage striker Will Lankshear who enjoyed the highs of scoring his first senior goal for Spurs to cancel out Yunus Akgun's opener and the lows of being sent off for two bookable offences in the second half.

Victor Osimhen had earlier put his side 3-1 up with two goals inside nine minutes shortly before the break but we rode out the storm and rallied with 10 men as substitute Dominic Solanke deftly finished off a lovely team move to briefly silence an intense atmosphere in Rams Park but the equaliser eluded us.
