Roethlisberger on Rest vs Preparation Before Camp

PITTSBURGH, PA - Entering his 15th season, Steelers' all-pro quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says he's still trying to find the balance between rest and preparation before training camp begins.

"It's a fine line I walk at this age, of resting and getting my body enough rest for the season and working out to prepare," said Roethlisberger. "You've got to listen to your body, any aches and pains you might have, your arm being sore if you're throwing too much, just things like that."

Steelers and Bell Closer to Extension

In an exclusive interview with NFL Network this week, Steelers' star running back Le'Veon Bell was asked again about the progress of his long-term extension with Pittsburgh. "We're a lot closer than we were last year at this time. That's what I'm happy about," Bell explained. "I have confidence we'll get it done. I want to do it," he further concluded.

Bell led the league in touches last season, and with new offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner in place, Bell thinks he'll experience the same amount of touches (not necessarily more or less) this upcoming season. When asked about possibly missing training camp, Bell said, "I don't want to have to do that." Bell said he is optimistic about reaching an agreement on a new contract that would facilitate his arrival at camp on time per Chris Wesseling of NFL.com.

Bell discussed the latest news about his contract situation along with the No. 5 ranking on NFL Network's The Top 100 Players Of 2018 list. He stated that he was happy with his ranking but not satisfied. See his full interview here:

Big Ben Wants Super Bowl Wins Over Big Contract

PITTSBURGH, PA - Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said it best when he explained in an interview this past Sunday that he cares more about Super Bowl wins than a new record-breaking contract.

"I care about record-breaking Super Bowl wins and things like that -- that's more important to me," Roethlisberger told ESPN.

Roethlisberger still has 2 years left on his contract and noted that he'd rather have the franchise "take care of other guys" right now. He's not worried about sacrificing money for other players. That's what his "agents are for," he further explained. Roethlisberger is just worried about playing football right now.

JuJu Smith-Schuster Dealing With Knee Injury

PITTSBURGH, PA - Pittsburgh Steelers' second-year wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is coming off of a phenomenal rookie season. However, entering this year's minicamp, he's dealing with a "frustrating" knee injury.

Smith-Schuster has been very vague on the extent of his injury but says he plans to be a full participant for training camp which starts July 26, 2018. "Just something that's been bothering me over time," said Smith-Schuster of the injury. "Kind of just adds up and lets me know, 'Yo, I need to get it checked out.' We got it checked out." Until training camp, the Steelers have decided to rest Smith-Schuster during OTA's and minicamp.

[When asked what "checked out" means, Smith-Schuster said to "ask coach Mike Tomlin." Smith-Schuster did not say whether or not the injury required surgery. Le’Veon Bell Inspired by LeBron James

COLUMBUS, OHIO - It's been a "not-so-surprising" and expected offseason transition for Pittsburgh Steelers' star running back, Le'Veon Bell. There is still no long-term deal between Bell and the Steelers, and Bell is expected to remain away from the team and train on his own this summer until the official NFL season starts in September. This past weekend however, Bell hosted his own youth camp at Groveport-Madison High School in Columbus, Ohio. The camp was held on "Le'Veon Bell Field," which Bell was reported by ESPN staff writer Jeremy Fowler to have donated $750,000 for an upgrade to the field's turf last year.

While being in his home state of Ohio, Bell had a chance to catch the NBA Finals and was able to reflect on the high-level play of Cleveland Cavaliers star, LeBron James. Bell told ESPN that LeBron James' phenomenal play at age 33 inspires him to have a long career with the Steelers. Watch the full video here:

Steelers 2018 Preseason Schedule Released

Wednesday, the NFL announced the 2018 Preseason Schedule for all 32 teams which includes 65 total games. The first game will be played August 2 between the Baltimore Ravens and the Chicago Bears at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio for the NFL's annual Hall of Fame Game.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will once again see some familiar preseason foes as they take on the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles for the "Battle of PA" week 1. Week 2, they'll travel to Green Bay to take on the Packers, while weeks 3 and 4, they'll end with two home games against the Tennesee Titans and Carolina Panthers respectively.

Antonio Brown’s Frustration Boils Over Early

The Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens 26-9 on Sunday in Baltimore, but not everyone on the Steelers sideline was happy.

Antonio Brown found himself wide open for what would've been an easy walk in touchdown if Ben Roethlisberger would've seen him, but he didn't. Instead he threw one over Le'Veon Bell's head and the Steelers had to punt. Brown had only been targeted once on their opening drive that seen them eat up 10:23 on the clock while marching 84 yards in 16 plays before penalties halted the drive.

That prompted this outburst from Brown while the Steelers punted.

“I’m passionate about the game,” he said. “Anytime you work as hard and a play doesn’t go the way you wanted, you get frustrated.”

This wasn't Browns first outburt and surely it won't be his last. There was a day that Roethlisberger was hurt and Landry Jones wasn't getting him the ball. After a sideline tirade he called Jones out after the game. Roethlisberger said he understands, though.

“A.B. is a playmaker. Sometimes there are not enough footballs to go around to everybody. A.B. is very passionate about wanting to help this team and take us to the next level. That’s nothing more than a competitor wanting the ball every single play.”

Brown had carried the offense early on this season while Bell was getting back to form. That form finally came today as he was the focal point of the offense. He pounded the Ravens and finished them off with his second touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Whether it's Bell or Brown leading the way at the end of the day they both want what's best for the team. That is to win games.

"When the game is tight he feels like he needs to make a play, Bell said. "I’ll never say A.B. is a distraction.”
