The 154th college football season kicks off August 26th and concludes December 9th with the National Championship game to be played on January 8th in Houston, Texas. Georgia is the defending back-to-back champion and preseason AP #1 ranked team heading into the year. Bowl Mania will consist of forty-three bowl games and we will get you up to speed on all the conference realignments and big games to watch for! Heisman hopefuls and College Football Semifinal predictions too!

Northwestern’s former Head Coach, Pat Fitzgerald fired July 10th for hazing allegations

First year for CBS’s Big Ten TV deal which also included NBC and Fox

10th and final year of four team college football playoff; Expanding to 12 teams next year

Conference Realignment:

Sam Houston and Jacksonville State making their D1 FBS debut in Conference USA

Liberty and New Mexico State also joined Conference USA this season

Six Conference USA schools joining the American Athletic Conference

Cincinnati, Houston and UCF left the American Athletic Conference and will begin their BIG 12 Conference play this season. BYU also joined the BIG 12 Conference this season too.

This will be the final season for Texas and Oklahoma in the BIG 12 as they bolt to the SEC

Almost all of the PAC 12 will be leaving after this season too, due to no media contract

A childhood friend of The Brothers Brandt played on the 2009-2010 Duke men’s basketball team that won the National Championship over Butler in 2010. When Rick was invited to sit courtside next to Coach K’s wife in the team's family and friends section for the Final Four weekend you bet he got to Indianapolis on the next possible flight! The New York Times dubbed this “the most eagerly awaited Championship game in years.” It was an unseasonably warm spring that April in Indy and Ricky B brought the heat. Rick took a one-way flight with $80 cash in his pockets and no debit or credit cards and nowhere to sleep for the week coordinated in advance. It had disaster written all over it haha, but Rick however made the best of his time there (as you've come to realize The Brothers Brandt always do!..lol) and in this exclusive podcast episode he shares with you some of the most epic stories one can possibly imagine. In this 97th episode of The Brothers Brandt podcast we document the fifth game of our legendary 5 Games In 5 Days sports road trip in Texas which was sponsored by our good friends at Golden Tickets back in 2018. On this final day, we gave it our all, and boy, did it show! The LSU Tigers were playing against the Miami Hurricanes in a neutral-site Labor Day Weekend football game to kickoff the 2018 college football season at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Rob wore his Miami tuxedo and Rick wore his LSU tuxedo. The fans loved our attire so much that we made it onto the largest jumbo-tron in sports during the game, then got picked up by ESPN as the lead image the next morning on SportsCenter. It was epic! Episode 88: Tim Tebow's Final Game at The Swamp

The best rivalry in Florida is the Florida State Seminoles against the Florida Gators and in 2009, The Brothers Brandt witnessed it in-person at “The Swamp” in Gainesville, Florida. It was Tim Tebow’s final home game of his illustrious college football career and he did not disappoint. Tebow and the Gators stomped on Florida State winning 37-10. Tebow accounted for five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing). He passed for 221 yards and ran for another 90 yards completely obliterating the FSU defense. The Seminoles halftime show was the best thing FSU did all day. After the game, we gave Tebow high-fives as he circled the stadium on the field thanking all the fans. Episode 81: Happy Valley - Penn State vs. Ohio State WHITE OUT EDITION

Over 106,000 crazed college football enthusiasts packed into Beaver Stadium on October 27, 2012 for the Penn State vs Ohio State Halloween Weekend Big Ten match-up and The Brothers Brandt were there on that famed weekend in Happy Valley, Pennsylvania. While visiting childhood friends who were attending Penn State University, we crashed on the couch and took in one of the greatest environments in sports. It is called “THE WHITE OUT” when everyone in the stadium (cheering on Penn State) wears all white, shakes white pom-poms and waves white towels to drown out the hopes of their opponents. Structural engineers have been brought in over the years to confirm that when the stadium shakes during white outs it is still safe hahaha! This game in 2012 was called “the ineligible bowl” because both teams being undefeated at 9-0 heading into this game, both historic programs were under NCAA sanctions making them both barred from competing that season in any post season bowl games. In 2015, legendary thoroughbred racehorse, American Pharaoh trained by Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert marched his way to a dominating performance in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes propelling him to become only the 12th horse to capture The Triple Crown! It ended a 37-year drought. American Pharaoh was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated and Vogue magazine that summer. Some have said he was the greatest athlete of all-time (if you count horses). After winning the Triple Crown, his next race in 2015 was The William Hill Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park in New Jersey where we grew up. Naturally, we attended this event in only a way The Brothers Brandt could. Bill Murray, Derek Jeter, the Governor of New Jersey and over 60,000 other patrons were on hand for the most memorable day in horse race history in the State of New Jersey. Needless to say, American Pharaoh on national television galloped his way to an impressive win that day and The Brothers Brandt made the most of our day at the historic Monmouth Park race track. Episode 73: Texas NFL Double Header: Texans and Cowboys!

The boys are back a it again manifesting an incredible NFL double header on a beautiful opening Sunday of the season. This is wrapping up the most wild and epic sports road trip you have ever heard of! It's the final day and Rick and I are pouring sweat into this and all the energy we have to end it the way we started! This episode highlights our experience at a 1pm Houston Texans vs Jags game and then a Sunday Night 8pm Cowboys vs Giants in Jerry's World experience. In between these games we drove 3 hours and saw the Golden Ticket Bus which led us to meet The Godfather of Tickets himself... Ram Silverman. A friendship that is worth more than gold... just salt of the earth human.

This puts the cherry on top of our Epic Southwest 12 games in 9 days Road Trip where we started in Clemson, South Carolina seeing a 1pm Clemson Tigers Game, 4pm Georgia Bulldogs game, 8pm Alabama vs FSU game in one day. Monday we were back in the saddle seeing a Tennessee vs Georgia Tech game. Tuesday was a Braves Baseball game at the beautiful new stadium. We drove through the night to Tampa and watched a 1pm Rays game then skirted down to Miami to witness a 8pm Marlins game. We narrowly missed Super Storm Irma and hopped a flight out to Houston. Friday was a Texas Rangers game in Arlington. Saturday was a Texas College double header with a 12pm Longhorns game followed by a 6pm Texas A&M Aggies home game. And that leaves us to Sunday were we went to a 1pm Texans game and a 8pm Cowboys game... Whoa! We needed a vacation from the Vacation haha... it was a quest, a quest for fun and mission was accomplished! Unforgettable memories with my best bud!

Enjoy this epsiode as Rick and myself travel from Austin Texas to College Station in ONE DAY! The state of Texas is HUGE and filled with top tier college football programs. The stars aligned for this part of our trip. We were able to see the Texas Longhorns battle San Jose State at 12pm in beautiful downtown Austin. As the game was ending we bounced down to College Station which is about a 2-3 hour drive to watch Texas A&M against Northwest State. On paper it was a "warm up" game but the visitors that day did not think so. It was a much closer game than anticipate and gave the Aggies a scare. Overall, college football in Texas is borderline a religion and when you can manage two games in one day, you have to do it. Enjoy as Rick and I talk about our experiences and encourage you the listeners to do your own sports road trips.

Loran Smith was a University of Georgia Bulldog MVP track star in 1959 and he hasn’t stopped ‘running the race’ for his alma mater's Athletic Department since. For the past SIXTY YEARS Loran Smith has earned the title as “most versatile Bulldog” and “vital building block” for one of the nation’s top athletic programs. Loran is most famous in the Peach State for being a longtime sideline reporter for Georgia football broadcasts. He’s been the University’s Assistant Sports Information Director, Business Manager, Bulldog Club Executive Director, Gameday Program Editor, and the prolific author of “Between the Hedges” (the story of Georgia’s first 100 years of football), “Fifty Years on the Fifty” (the history of the Orange Bowl) and “The Athens Sketchbook” (the history of Athens and UGA). If that wasn’t impressive enough, Loran has also written FIVE books about The Masters which have been published by the Augusta National Golf Club. Loran began attending The Masters in 1960 and has received The Masters Major Achievement Award, given to those who have covered the tournament for 40 years or more. Loran is a Georgia native, past chairman of the State’s Sports Hall of Fame and was elected to that Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. Loran is the ultimate jack of all trades and currently serves as UGA’s Athletic Historian.

His ability to perfectly balance passionate-enthusiasm and tranquility in every word while describing the details of an athletic contest for millions of varying viewers is unmatched and is the reason why Jim Nantz is the greatest of all time. On multiple occasions Jim has, within a 3-month window, broadcasted the Super Bowl, The Final Four and The Masters during his 36-year career at CBS. Like the Brothers Brandt, Jim grew up playing sports on the Jersey Shore in Monmouth County, New Jersey. After graduating from the University of Houston with a broadcasting degree, Jim kickstarted his Hall of Fame career by announcing college football and NBA games. He has since added the U.S. Open Tennis tournament, Winter Olympics and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to his illustrious broadcasting career accomplishments. Super Bowl week is upon us and we thought there was no one better to come on the pod and chop it up about his career and winning a Super Bowl than Neptune New Jersey Native, Rutgers star tight end and former Gronk/ Brady teammate than Tim Wright. This episode was one of the best by far. Tim spares no details as he relives his childhood, pop warner and high school careers. His epic winner within mentality at Rutgers empowered him to overcome an ACL injury which sidelined him for his Junior year. He took the field his senior year as a lone offensive captain and turned up the heat for the nation to see. It caught the eyes of his former coach Greg Schiano who was coaching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As an undrafted free agent, Tim had to earn his spot in Tampa and was moved from Wide Receiver to Tight End. He set franchise records his rookie year and made splash. After his rookie year, Tim was traded (words players never want to hear). But when he found out his new home would be with Tom Brady, Gronk and Belichik, Tim was doing cart wheels. He shipped up to Boston and was greeted with hugs from Brady and Gronk. His first season with the Patriots resulted in 6 touchdowns thrown by none other than the GOAT, Tom Brady. He worked in tandem with Gronk as a dynamic duo at the tight end position. That year the Patriots won the Super Bowl in arguably the greatest Super Bowl finish ever and Tim was donned World Champion! What a pleasure it was interviewing Alex Miniak!! Alex is the PA announcer for the San Diego Padres and the PA announcer for MLB the Show video game (Best selling baseball video game ever). If you ever attended a game at Petco Park or have enjoyed crushing homers in the video game, you know Alex Miniak or at least you know his voice!! In this episode, Alex talks about growing up in the Florida, attending University of Florida during some championship runs as a journalism major and his journey to the big leagues. I was fascinating as Alex shines a light on what it takes to make it as a PA announcer in the big leagues. Think about it... there are 30 major league baseball teams and every baseball team has 40 players on the roster. That's 1,200 players in baseball. To make it as a PA announcer you have to be TOP 30 out of millions of people. He is in rare class. During his interview with the Padres, he was the last man standing after 800 applicants were turned away. Wow!! What a voice!! He recounts his favorite memories of announcing with us which were 2016 All Star game and this past post season. We met Adnan in 2017 in Atlanta and he was incredibly kind. One of the true ‘good guys’ in the industry and a father of four. Throughout this episode we of course talk sports with Adnan. Episode 51: THE MASTERS... A tradition unlike any other!

It may be the fall of 2020 as the Masters Kicks Off, but it will always be Masters Week around the golfing world. The leafs may be brown and red, there will be no colorful azaleas, no patrons, no concessions and no roars for Tiger at Augusta National this week, but the Masters is always the Masters. The Green Jacket is always the Green Jacket. And, Sunday will be Sunday at the Masters with Jim Nantz echoing on the TV. Rick and I have had the privilege of going to the Masters in 2016 and 2017. Rick went the following year in 2018. And we both went last year in 2019 to watch arguably the greatest come back in Masters History as Tiger Woods roared back to win the Masters in epic fashion. It was an incredible memory of a lifetime for us. We both watched Tiger put in to win the Green Jacket on 18. Wow! Chills still run down my arms when I think of that magic day. Episode 49: UCLA Bruins and The Rose Bowl

Game 9 of the road trip takes a special, iconic venue: The Rose Bowl! The Rose Bowl is rich with history dating back to the turn of the century. We were just as excited to see the Bruins play as we were to walk along the historic bleachers at this venue. This venue is super cool because it located in almost like a neighborhood in Pasadena, California. It's not in a MAJOR city so it has this unique charm to it. It is famous for the Rose Bowl (game) which hosts the champion of the Big Ten and the Champion of the Pac 12, an east vs. west battle. This usually decided the champion in college football previous to other major bowl game and now the College Football Playoffs. It also hosted so many Super Bowls and now it hosts the Bruins of UCLA for all their home football games. It was a beautiful night in Pasadena and we got to witness a massive upset of UCLA. The Sun Devils of ASU upset Chosen Rosen (Josh Rosen) and the Bruins that Saturday night. But nonetheless, we had a blast. Next up San Diego!!

We are on cruise control ladies and gents. The stories just keep flowing like Niagara Falls. In this episode, we hurry down to San Diego from Los Angeles to see the Padres battle the Brew Crew. It was a lack luster game at best considering both teams were no where near contention for the playoffs. You get some of these meaningless games within a 10 game 10 day road trip but you do it for much more than the game itself. It is the experience of seeing a new city, walking the concourse of a stadium you only see on TV from time to time, embracing the history and the niches of each place with people you enjoy hanging with. And in some crazy bizarre circumstances you end up meeting, shaking hands, taking pics with and connecting with a LEGENDARY HALL OF FAME PITCHER by the name of Trevor Hoffman. Trevor Hoffman pitched almost his entire career with the Padres and just so happened to be chilling on the field while Rick and I were doing our stadium tour... and when you see someone like Hoffman on the field, you are not going to pass up the opportunity to shake the hand of legend, my friends. I was told a long time ago that you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. We did not want to live the rest of our lives just saying what if we went to talk to Trevor Hoffman so we took the shot... take the shot folks take the shots.

Episode 46: The Angels in the Outfield

Here we are day 6 of our epic sports road trip down the west coast. We started in Oregon, moved up to Seattle, jumped down to San Fran and are making our way to warmer weather and the city of angels. After watching Calyton Kershaw through a complete game 1 hitter to help the Dodgers clinch the NL West, we drove to Anaheim to see the Angels play the Oakland A's. The game itself had little excitement due to both teams were not in the playoff push, however it was very cool to see the Angels stadium and waterfalls. Also, it was an opportunity to watch two future hall of famers play: Albert Pujols and New Jersey native Mike Trout. Rick and myself did a stadium tour and we grabbed good intel on where to "upgrade" our seats to. Again folks, never and I mean never pay the hundreds of dollars for front row seats when you can just buy the nosebleeds for $20 and move down like we did. We ended up watching an exciting 8-7 finish from about 10-15 rows back behind the first base dugout. Enjoy this quick episode as we highlight the Los Angeles Angels, their stadium and history!

Episode 45: Golden Gate Brandts - Giants vs. Dodgers

Late September in 2015, Rick and myself got to enjoy an epic showdown between Clayton Kershaw and Madison Bumgardner in a race for the NL West Division Title. We drove through the night from Seattle to SF. It took us 12 hours after a Monday Night Mariners game to make it to San Fran. We crashed on the couch of our childhood friend, Aaron Tarver, who has an apartment in SF. It was only an hour of shut eye before we put on the Giants swag and made our way to the THE GREATEST BASEBALL STADIUM in the country: Oracle Park. It is a must see. The view are stunning and breathtaking. I have been to a couple of Giants games and one of my favorite spots is upper deck along the first baseline. It's a perfect spot to roll up the sleeves work off the farmer's tan, sip. a cold beer and do the scorecard while watching the game and staring into the marina and bay that borders the stadium. I get chills just typing this because of the beauty. Anyway, the game ended up not being as competitive as we hoped, however did witness one of the greatest pitchers of our time, Clayton Kershaw, throw a one hitter. Our seats were nosebleeds but we were able to secure 4 seats 5 rows back from the field... I don't know how that happened. Getting 1-2 seats is a tough task, but we lucked out and sometimes it better to be lucky. Enjoy the show folks!.

Welcome to Beaver Country! In this episode Ricky and I detail our excursion around the Oregon State University Campus and Athletic Facilities and enjoy our first game of the epic west coast road trip, Oregon State vs. Stanford. We organized a tour with a person in the athletic department months before flying to Oregon. Rick and I doubted this person's capabilities on giving a tour of OSU, so we made our own tour. We strolled around decked out in orange and black OSU gear and lots of swagger. There were gates open to the stadium so we made our way out onto the field, getting our signature picture on the emblem at the 50 yard line. We then moved our way throughout the stadium and up to the press box. We even went into the locker rooms. It was a free for all and we were loving every minute of it. Fast forward to Friday night, OSU vs, Stanford to kick off the road trip. The energy was right, the fans were ready, the beavers were gonna try to saw down the Stanford Cardinal. We enjoyed tailgating with families from Oregon and were one of the first people into the stadium. Our tickets were in the nosebleeds but we found out the student section is a "first come, first serve free for all" and we ended up hanging there all night front row. It was then Rick and I witnessed Christian McCaffrey absolutely shred the Beaver defense for 200+ yards on the ground helping Stanford lock up a 42-24 win on the road. Next up Oregon Ducks vs. Utah Utes!!

Ladies and Gentlemen this is your captain speaking, we will be traveling back in time and out West, landing in Portland Oregon on September 23, 2015. This is the opening episode of the Brothers Brandt Epic 10 games in 10 days West Coast Road Trip. This episode talks about Nike Town USA. We had the privilege of touring NIKE Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon just outside of Portland. It is a must if you can get on campus. We also went to town on the NIKE Store thanks to our cousin ;) Stacie Tarver's 50% OFF hook up!

It's important to note that these trips were done on shoe string budgets and anyone who can take time off from work or work remotely and LOVE Sports should indulge themselves in these journeys. We got super cheap flights, crashed with friends or friends of friends along the way to save thousands on hotel expenses. We went on eBay and bought home team swag for pennies compared to buying at the game. We also bought nosebleed tickets and moved our way down to open seats as close to front row as possible and in multiple experiences ended up on the field. Here is our itinerary for the travels
Wednesday - Fly from Philly to Portland
Thursday - NIKE HQ 7am; Oregon State Stadium Tour 12pm
Friday - Oregon Ducks Stadium Tour 7AM ;) and then Oregon State Beavers vs. Stanford Cardinal Game. (Fun Fact: Christian McCaffrey torched them for 200+ yards on the ground)
Saturday - Oregon Ducks vs Utah Utes
Sunday - Seattle Seahawks vs. Chicago Bears
Monday - Seahawks Stadium Tour 9AM, Seattle Mariners Stadium Tour 1pm and Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros 7PM
Tuesday - SF Giants stadium tour 12pm; San Fran Giants vs. LA Dodgers 7pm
Wednesday - LA Angels Stadium Tour 12pm; LA Angels vs. Oakland A's 7PM

In this episode, we jump back in time to the Fall of 2012. We are Jersey Boys through and through. Back in the fall of 2012, Hurricane Sandy ripped through our Jersey Shore leaving the place looking like a war zone. To this day, homes are still boarded up. It's crazy. We wanted to help anyway we could in the community, so we joined up with Habitat for Humanity rebuilding homes in the area. Little did we know, Advil and Habitat for Humanity partnered up to give Brooklyn Nets tickets and a special VIP experience to anyone who volunteered. It was a win-win-win. We got to roll up the sleeves and help rebuild homes in our community, got to see some sports out of it and have a memory that echoes in our hearts 8 years later. The NBA was the first major sports league to shut down in March because of the coronavirus. League officials then spent the following three months analyzing the ever-evolving situation trying to determine the safest way to conclude their 2019-2020 regular season games, have a postseason, and eventually crown a Champion. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver worked with the team owners and the Players Association to create the now-famous ‘bubble’ in Orlando, Florida where games began in late July and will run through early October, if all goes according to plan, which in 2020 we know is no guarantee. Nigel Talton is one of the most popular celebrities in the state of Georgia and he has been a viral sensation across Major League Baseball since 2017. Nigel is known to Braves fans as “The Freeze” and when he isn’t raking the infield dirt or cutting the outfield grass as his full-time Grounds Crew job requires of him, he is sprinting at olympic speed against unsuspecting Braves fans along the team’s warning track wall during a designed mid-game in stadium promotion created to captivate the 41,000 fans in attendance at Truist Park. The stars aligned in July of 2014 for Rick when he met his childhood hero Derek Jeter during Jeter’s filming of his iconic Gatorade ‘My Way’ commercial which was a tribute to the Yankee Captain’s 20-year career in pinstripes. In this black-and-white commercial the Yankee shortstop takes a stroll in the Bronx outside of Yankees Stadium personally thanking the fans one by one – Rick included! Rick ironically happened to be in the Bronx on that 97-degree day – EIGHT hours before the team’s mid-week regular-season 7pm evening home game. It was supposed to be just a normal day in the Bronx, but that all changed quickly. Rick got to meet his childhood hero during the taping of this commercial and considers it to be one of his favorite memories of all time. This podcast dives into the unlikely happenstance that Rick just so happened to be in the right place at the right time on the right day. We also examine how Rick’s initiative that day and how arriving early made this magical moment happen. This commercial is known as the “My Way” commercial because Frank Sinatra’s famous 1969 hit song plays as the soundtrack for this 90-second tribute to Derek Jeter which is so perfect because Jeter sure did things ‘his way’ throughout his legendary career. Rick tells us in this podcast what Jeter was like in person, how genuine he was that day, and what it was like to be a small part of baseball history during Jeter’s farewell tour in 2014.

Going to a professional sporting event can be a lot of fun. Going to TWO in one day can be exhilarating! Many factors must align well for any sports fan to catch a double-header. Even for the most enthusiastic sports fan, attending double-headers are few and far between. You must first be mentally and physically committed to an adrenaline-charged quest. I say quest because in our experience, attending a double-header is no leisurely walk in the park. A well-executed, enjoyable double-header in any combination of sports requires extensive preparation, determination, and a general-like focus to stay on track. Oh, and a little luck. All double-headers come with moments of high’s and low’s. It is your responsibility to navigate those peaks and valleys. In 2017, the NFL schedule gave us the chance to catch a 1pm Eagles game in Philadelphia and later that night an 8pm Giants game in northern New Jersey. The games times and the geography are two components to a double-header that are out of your control so yes, a little luck is certainly a factor in drawing up your double-header fantasy. There is an art to mapping-out double-headers where you enjoy two separate events while very importantly not disturbing the enjoyment of either one – aka leaving early from the first one or feeling rushed to get to the second event when the first one hasn’t even started. We’ve mastered the skill of maximizing a double-header and in this podcast we walk you through the excitement of an NFL Sunday double-header. Pre-game field passes, all you can eat lobster buffets, and private suites with fireplaces included, of course!!

Episode 25: Williamsport, PA: The Little League World Series

The Little League World Series is an annual youth tournament held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania for baseball players aged 10 to 12 years old. The Series was first held in 1947 and takes place every August on the nicest youth baseball fields in the world at Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Volunteer Stadium at the Little League International headquarters complex. This event is a worldwide tournament and is broadcasted on ESPN. In the summer months leading up to the Little League World Series, Little League charters around the world select an All-Star team made up of players from their respective charter. These All-Star teams then compete in district, sectional, divisional, and regional tournaments, hoping to advance to Williamsport for the Little League World Series to represent their region at the end of the summer. There are eight regions in the USA and an additional eight international regions that make up this annual sixteen-team, double-elimination tournament. Admission to all the games are free for fans to attend and for two weeks each year, the entire world is captivated by the talented baseball players who get to play in Williamsport. Many notable professional athletes played in this tournament as a kid. The two of us did not play in the tournament as kids, but we did grow up watching it on TV every summer. Rick once rented Lamade Stadium in May of 2015 and together we bused dozens of kids and their families to Williamsport for a once-in-a-lifetime trip. That memorable day, Rick coordinated a bunch of exhibition games for kids on the field inside Lamade Stadium - the same immaculate venue that hosts the Little League World Series. The entire complex was ours that day. Rick umpired the games and I announced them from the press box. It was awesome! We also have been fortunate to frequent the Little League World Series many times over the years to watch the tournament games in-person and see the talented ball players from all over the world crowned as Champions of the world. That is a special experience! We can confidently say that the Little League World Series is a trip all baseball families must add to their bucket lists. The town is buzzing with pure joy and excitement in August! It is one of the best places to watch the game of baseball. The kids who are playing in this annual tournament are the best ball players in the world for their age. He was a field player in baseball throughout his entire high school career and his first year at junior college. It wasn't until he walked on at Sam Houston State where he made the decision to switch to pitching. He then became a 5th Round draft pick. Episode 22: All Things Seinfeld at The Brooklyn Cyclones

In 2014, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the debut of the "show about nothing," the Brooklyn Cyclones, a minor league baseball team, renamed their MCU ballpark in Brooklyn, New York for a promo night to honor the legendary, made-up latex business in the 1990’s sitcom Seinfeld by calling it, “Vandelay Industries Park.” And it didn’t stop there. It drew a sell-out, packed crowd of Seinfeld enthusiasts. When we walked into the stadium that July night in 2014, we received the “Keith Hernandez Magic Loogie” bobblehead and were greeted by the real Kramer (aka “the Ass-man” aka Michael Richards). We also saw the actual “Soup Nazi” and men wearing “the puffy shirt!”…There was a real “Marine Biologist” who threw out the ceremonial first pitch (which was a Titleist golf ball haha) and instead of the 7th inning stretch, there were a group of Elaine look-a-likes on the field who did Elaine's notorious “little kicks dance” (Yikes! haha), and to celebrate the night, “a donation was made in our names to The Human Fund – Money For People” courtesies of George Costanza. He was so nice. He made a donation in everyone's name. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, the “foul poles” were renamed that evening as “the festivus poles” for George’s father, Frank's made-up fake holiday! There was a George Castanza Snickers eating compeition and you could air grievances at the kiosk down the first base line. They even had a low talking PA Announcer haha.
Everyone, including us who are huge Seinfeld fanatics had such a great time that night in Brooklyn in 2014, that the organization quickly decided to make the promo night an annual tradition. When ballgames pick back up, and fans are permitted again, be sure to put this promo night on your family’s calendar so you can get your “fusilli Jerry or Lloyd Braun bobblehead!” If you are a United States Postal Service worker (shout out to Newman haha) and come dressed as one with your USPS ID card you will get in free! Lastly, don’t fill up too much beforehand at dinner before you go to the game because they will be sure to have all “The Big Salads”, “Marble Ryes”, “Junior Mints” and “Black and White Cookies” you can eat. Gerry Cooney is one of the ALL TIME greatest boxers to ever step into the ring. He grew up on Long Island and found the boxing gym in his early teens during the 70's. He took the boxing world by storm with his power and tenacity. Gerry became a professional boxer on February 15, 1977 where he boxed against Billy Jackson... it was a quick victory for Gerry knocking out Billy Jackson in the first round. This pretty much became the norm for Gerry haha. His overall career record is 28 wins 3 losses and of his 28 wins 24 came from knock outs. Oh and his only losses?? They were to 3 Heavyweight Champions of the world., most notable was Larry Holmes where Cooney went a total of 13 rounds in a back and forth battle. His bout with Larry Holmes was the first ever outdoor boxing event in Las Vegas and was televised worldwide to 150 countries which resulted in the largest amount of money brought in by a fight. Zack grew up on Staten Island and was a die hard Yankee Fan from birth. He even has a family dog named "Jeter." He started his baseball career right on the block playing at the neighborhood park. It was there that Zack developed hitting the ball up the middle. He enjoyed a successful high school career at Tottenville in Staten Island. He grew up in a baseball household where his brother won a City title at said high school years prior. After high school, Zack took his talents across the bridge to Seton Hall University. At Seton Hall, Zack started every game as a freshman and had an immediate impact, helping his team upset UConn and St. John's en route to a Big East Championship. He takes a lot of pride in his hometown and his college. As a sophomore and junior, Zack continued to turn heads of scouts. In 2013, Zack was drafted by the Minnesota Twins. He quickly progressed through their farm system and earned his big league debut in 2017. I will leave the rest of his career for your listening pleasure. They supply tickets to all sporting events around the country and world. Their marquee events are: The Masters, World Cup, Olympics, SuperBowls, WorldSeries and The Kentucky Derby.
We met Ram 2 years ago when Rick and I were on our Southeast Road Trip where we went to 12 games in 9 days. It was a unique encounter that we will get into on the podcast which sparked a fast relationship from the jump. Episode 11: Downtown Goes Frazier: The Todd Frazier Interview

People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did but they will never forget how you made them feel. Rick and I have had the privilege of meeting Todd Frazier twice before baseball games we attended. Every time he made us feel like we were the only ones in the ball park. We will always remember that! Raised on the Jersey Shore, Todd grew up in a house that was no stranger to the Major Leagues. He has two older brothers, Jeff and Charlie who played professional ball. I guess you could say Todd was no stranger to the spotlight from a young age. At 12 years old, he led his Toms River Little League team to Williamsport to capture the LLWS in epic fashion. From there, his high school team won back to back state titles. He moved on to Rutgers where after his short time there, he left with his name all over the record books. He took his talents to Cincy where he enjoyed an incredible start to his big league career. He’s a multiple time MVP, Home Run Derby Champ and an ambassador to Little League Baseball around the globe. He played for the White Sox, Yankees and Mets. Currently, he is signed with the Texas Rangers. It was an absolute blast to learn more about Todd’s journey: growing up in the Frazier house, Little League, college, the pros and what him and his family are doing for youth sports in Toms River. Episode 10: Breaking the 4 Minute Mile featuring Timmy Gorman

Lace up your running shoes and get the stop watches ready because Timmy Gorman is coming in HOT! Timmy grew up with us in the same home town of Little Silver, NJ. He started his career in track and field during middle school at Markham Place. Then he made the move to Christian Brothers Academy. Freshman year Timmy tried out for the cross country team and was one of the worst runners but kept in the fold and finished his freshman year as one of the top freshman runners. He continued a very strong high school career which led to a 4:12 mile and being recruited by Dartmouth College. He took his talents to Dartmouth and shaved more time off getting his mile down to 4:01. He battled some injuries and earned an extra year of eligibility. It was his senior year that he decided to commit to Tracktown USA aka Oregon University to run and earn his MBA. It was his first year at Oregon that Timmy Gorman broke the 4 minute mile with a time of 3:58. He's one of a very select few runners to ever accomplish this feat. Tim earned his MBA the following year. He took some time off in Baja, Mexico but not for long. He found a job in Mammoth Lakes, California. He walked on the Mammoth Lakes Running Club - this sparked his professional running career. Timmy now is a 3:57 miler and ranked #8 in USA for the mile. H'es working his butt off for a spot to represent team USA in Tokyo 2021. Keep following his journey because he isn't stopping anytime soon.

Episode 8: The Perfect Game featuring Shane McCarthy

What up podcasters! I hope you are enjoying the ride. This episode is our favorite thus far!! The reason being, we had our first ever interview and it was with our great friend, Shane McCarthy. We've known Shane since he was 10 years old growing up in Little Silver, NJ. Rick umpired a lot of Shane's baseball games as a kid. Shane attended Rumson Fair Haven H.S. and was a star pitcher there. After overcoming elbow surgery his Junior year, he earned an academic/athletic scholarship to Seton Hall University. His highlight of college was pitching a PERFECT GAME against LIU his sophomore year. There have only been 23 Perfect Games pitched in MLB and 30 in Division 1 baseball history. To give you an idea of how big of a deal this is - there have been 218,000 games played in MLB over the past 150 years and maybe the same in college baseball. If you take 53 and divide it by let's call it 400,000 games that means Shane McCarthy has accomplished something that only 0.00012679% of people have ever done. He's in an elite class of pitchers and this career is just getting started. Enjoy the pod and Shane's underdog story - we sure did!!
