The father and mother of our country is the Earth and they were deported by agents of the monoculture, helplessly misguided men in masks who tear us apart. The father and mother of our country immediately begin healing the children ziptied in the hallways…. the ancestors rush in to guard us against plastic pixel nightmares. We remember that the Earth is our government, our culture, our economy…. Suddenly, we know power.

and musicians joined an audience that became a party that became a town hall meeting. 

They stayed to talk and listen with such conviction that they impacted the content of the

next performance. (We had 3 performances in two days in London.)  The idea that the 

Earth is alive, communicating with us; that we are entering a new era of Earth activism; that

the Earth is the leading activist and that we should wait for the signs. Standard "Earth Riot

Radio preaching" yes, but still, this intensity surprised us. People are looking for radical 

change in how they share life with this living Earth. Earthalujah!

in the world. And don't let the Earth be outside you only, because then you are a tourist. Let the Earth be inside and outside, and the only analogy that really works is the inside/outside relationship of a lover.

We are the "Earthchxrch", and for 20 years we were "The Church of Stop Shopping" - and emerging from the lie of virtuality was our thing. But now, with every month a record-breaking nightmare of heat, and the scientists telling us that the computer modeling doesn't work anymore because everything is exploding, we are left alone with the Earth. The Earth gives us the gift of the Unknown, the fabulous Unknown, and we are humble for the first time. What are we to do? Tell us.

Every month for the last 14 months has been the hottest on record.  The scientists who reported what weather to expect based on computer models now say that the exponential rate of climate change makes those sophisticated estimates impossible.  They are throwing away the computers and making a run for it.  Thousands of species are disappearing while flood and fire comes roaring up the valley of zombified consumers. We can't escape the prison of convenience.  The thing is, we still have the offer to participate in this apocalypse.  The Earth waits for us.

Moving from our storefront “Earthchxrch” in the East Village, we gasped at the shift in scale, like a pleasurable version of the bends. When we wake up on the bus the morning after a show, the pleasure we feel is that we have blasted into the sweeping landscape of messages like “Let’s make a new kind of activism for the Earth!” ….and “Can we be strange enough to change enough?” …and “Love is the Earth’s radical gift.  Let’s use it for Life!”

right on cue...  All this drives us underground. We'll be non-official radical volunteers as 

New York City forsakes Lady Liberty and does its best imitation of Alabama. We'll find non-professional 

partners to ride the Earth Riot Wave as extinction and climate chaos accelerates, as civil wars and gangs 

run amuck - and decent folks have to walk thousands of miles, float in leaky boats, confront gunmen at borders. 

The politicians and police are corrupted souls we won't trust with the lives of our loved ones and neighbors, 

or the lives of our new neighbors, the gracious, bold, curious guests who are arriving in our town. They come 

with the gift of their lives. They remind us that love is the answer, not demonizing innocents.

At the Earthchxrch we welcome the Newest New Yorkers, about a hundred mostly West African young men each day. They join us at 36 Loisaida Ave (Ave C) in the East Village - each weekday from 8 am to 4 pm. On Sundays, some of them join us for our 5 pm 'Earth service,' featuring the heavenly music of the Stop Shopping Choir. We offer a heating system, but the roof leaks a little... There is a partnership (we contribute money) with a local soup kitchen EVlove. English lessons are taught, sometimes by the migrants themselves, as speaking in Portuguese, Spanish, French, Arabic, and various indigenous dialects fill the air of our single room. A strong gift is the newcomers' vision of freedom and independence, urged on by the 22-story woman in the harbor with her torch. We are reminded of our dream, coming to this place.

Look, I have Evil in my life like everybody else. In this episode of Earth Riot, the 102nd weekly broadcast of this show, I tell the story of preaching against violence until I was cold-cocked by Christ. I came to the Holland, Michigan jail. My attacker knew the cops. But everyone is lost in a civil war these days, right? Violence is everywhere. Just remember, every frozen fundamentalist wants to start laughing. 

The migration, 200,000 souls in NYC in the last year and a half, is exactly what we need, and it is what we are. The meaning of the 22-story-high female jurist standing in our harbor, with a torch raised, is that we welcome the newest Americans, just as we were welcomed. The killers of our city, Adams’ friends in real estate and banking (and Trump-endorsing cops) may have met their match, because the shelter, food, and central heating denied the refugees by the city are being supplied by New Yorkers. We are remembering the pleasure of trust.

COP28 confirms it. The Oilies believe that they can steer the planet’s heat. Yes, they are strategic climate-makers now, which must be something like being God. Or, the Devil. It’s a world-ending profit center! They believe their natural disasters will keep the indigenous people of the Global South and their protesting sympathizers - flabbergasted, and depoliticized by endless tragedy. Meanwhile, back up North, they flood themselves with orgasmic hallucinations of wealth.

Climate change also changes the passing of time and the ability to remember. Last week’s promise by fossil reps to “transition” to safe energy feels a century old. The 6th Extinction is quickly evolving human beings in new directions. At COP28, the 2,500 fossil lobbyists, marketers, and lawyers have experienced pathological amnesia. Environmentalists, on the other hand, report dives into deep wisdom consciousness. Landing back in their hometowns, the activists are out-of-control Earth revolutionaries, singing Earthalujah! in fossil banks. 

Peace is Life. Peace is the Earth. Peace is forests, wetlands, high plains, and coral reefs - ecosystems that live in steady balance, changing but flourishing over time. Human culture works that way, too. A healthy neighborhood (and a big Peace March) has diversity rather than a monoculture, lots of first names everyone knows, and people keep an eye on the predators to stay safe. Now we must enter a time of radical change, and the Earth is showing the way.

We speak with Gail Bradbrook, co-founder of Extinction Rebellion, and her friend, the Conscientious Objector to the Master Narrative - Dr. Alnoor Ladha. "Psychedelic Civil Disobedience" might describe the world-saving mental-emotional reordering that results from experiencing the upcoming 29 minutes. But this current war doesn't pass the common sense test for most Consumers. Controlling our sense of right and wrong is a primary goal of the Consumerist project. Marketers are holding their breath as the war in the Mideast and the Ukraine feature murders of innocents in the broad daylight of the media. Looking into the eyes of freshly bombed children these last weeks threatens to break Consumerism's hold. Nothing is worse for people, and nothing is worse for the Earth.

We didn't choose an easy issue. Consumerism, the cultural enforcement arm of Capitalism, is everywhere and nowhere-- always engaged in its own normalization. So we think that the little screen: fashion, frequent flyer miles, western medicine, foodie mania; this is all OK without any intelligent review. Even climate change isn't a political presence to most consumers. We think the weather is ours to consume. But this year's shopping season? Showing through all this saturation advertising is the face of another child, killed by our Consumer economy, the empire kind, the guns and bombs variety. This week, our activism is energized by sorrow, our shopping is slowed by that face, those eyes, and another life. 

The US has not lived up to that pledge. The suffering and early death of so many innocent people in the colonial wars in Viet Nam, Afghanistan, Chile and Iraq also impacted home life upon the soldier's return, as divorces and suicides soared. Certainly the return to employment as local law enforcement and the brutality against people of color by veterans - is still going on. How can peace be attained with such gigantic Pentagon budgets? We have become a military economy. The Pentagon is not a government department; it is a world.

It does feel too late. And sometimes our Earthchxrch singing slides into a dirge. Usually, we are ecstatic and our neighborhood sees us in the windows acting like holy rollers. The Earth is our musical teacher, our maestro. When we sing “Death Makes the Sun Rise” in the lobby of a fossil bank like JPMorgan Chase, we like to think the Earth is smiling.

Consumerized fame, the monetizing of reputations - isn’t just a distraction. Commercial fame isn’t just lots of celebrities - manufactured flesh products. Fame is one product, one forever chemical, like CO2 burning and flooding the last of the living. The well-known people who appear in our half hour are Muhammad Ali, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Judy Collins, Victor Jara, Stephen Sondheim, John F. Kennedy, Nelson Mandela, Greta Thunberg, Maya Lin, Rodney King.  

Because the Earth is intelligent, alive, conscious, and we in the Earth Riot Radio community, centered around the Eartchxrch in New York, we believe that our liberation from fundamentalist religions, strong men, technological warfare (mass murder) and all of this worldwide harm, will come from the Earth. We don't completely understand the Earth's language, but we will know her revolution. Earthalujah!

Peace is a part of life. Peace is in motion. We need to discover Peace every day. If we continue to ask, "What is Peace today?" we invite the Earth to create stronger resistance. What is Peace? Our solution blows in the Wind. Even when Peace seemingly cannot be found, we must ask, "What is Peace." In doing this, we bring the Earth into our body – in family and community. We will get a sign. We will get our loving instructions. Nothing is worse for the Earth than war, and the Earth is the key to ending war. 

We are supposed to be lost in a False World. That's good for the economy. That's prosperity. That's America. The total invasion of an internal, private life by the investor class. We are very close to the moment when private thought will be illegal. But we are having that thought now, and it is a shocking form of resistance. We found that this predatory culture is a house of cards blown down by a super storm that you and I are very much a part of. We are that 200 mph wind! We are that 120 degree afternoon! Earthalujah!

We are making decisions about our activism for the Earth,as we always have. We remember social movements in the past. And then, we apply the experiences from Civil Rights, Women’s Rights, ACT UP, and many more to our present situation. But we are in 2023, and this is a science fiction world, indecipherable and baffling. 

What is the history of Change? Heroes demonstrate how Change works, what risk we should take, how to proceed and make up that history. How does that work when whole cities are bursting into flames?

There will soon be a response to the fires and floods by the mass of people deemed "violent." Unlike the current violence by the fossil banks and oil companies, which causes cities to burst into flames and drown in avalanches and ocean and river surges, the response will be attacks on property and wealth from the passion we saw in the streets during Climate Week in New York. Revolutions start that way. Earthalujah!

The American Dream killed the people who lived here and stole people from their lives in Africa. And now the climate is killing the killers here as the Earth evolves its next life. The top banker says that to give up the poisons would be "America going to Hell". We look away. We gather in arenas, cheering wildly, looking away from the Earth. We pretend that the American Dream is not on this planet. That's not what dreaming is.

Climate Week wants a direction. Well, read the instructions of a hurricane with rooftops spinning like frisbees. Oh help us! Let love fill us with the Earth's expectations and we will face the killers. We will find stronger activism in the very thing we are trying to defend...birth, desire, death, birth, desire...stormy weather! 

Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase is the most obvious of our climate criminals. We don't have that many gangsters at his level. He puts his trillions behind the fabulous profits made by putting carbon into the air. He killed the Paris Climate Agreement. And now, after this summer's science fiction scale disasters, we know our activism must

somehow articulate what people like Dimon are doing. We haven't done that yet. We need to OUT the poisoners. How? Well, the Church of Stop Shopping goes into the big Chase banks in Manhattan, and we dance on their desks....Do you have a better idea?

Caught between humanity and the Earth, we are trapped. And what are we doing? We're passive. As consumers, we believe we can be bystanders. In the EarthChxrch, we suggest that you side with the Earth. The Earth is teaching us how to be radicals again. In this episode of Earth Riot Radio, animals take over the TV studio. The necessary revolution is here in this extraordinary moment. Our only task is to live up to it. The Earth's 6th Extinction is not demanding a response within our quiver of desire, or our strategy, or even our reverence. It is happening, that's all. And a new Wisdom must come from us.

We are allowing the powerful to amass unprecedented fortunes from mass murder, and they are raking in the billions in plain sight.

People seem locked in passivity. The CO2 increases in the atmosphere every month. If a few of us would risk life and limb to oppose the fossil executives, would people break out of their hypnosis and rise in great numbers?

The stories blow in the wind in one direction more than any other direction, and that is called “Culture". The absence of a sensible delivery system for spoken word stories is the key to why we are not communicating about the Earth’s crisis. No we aren’t. Not enough. Not clearly. Our climate reports comes as pixels, data, tragedy and celebrity compassion, but nothing as powerful as a friend who shakes us and demands that we change. And we shake and shout at all the friends and strangers who conspire with us to poison the air and grow the storms.

To walk across the property line of an Earth criminal like JPMorgan Chase or British Petroleum or Monsanto/Bayer is to enjoy a jolt of honesty. It feels like fresh mountain air. To walk across the racist part of the Senate, or the sexist part of sports or religion or health... These are the distortion fields of Consumerism in our lives, the inequality that crushes us, but then is defeated finally by our ability the protest with our bodies and souls. Yes, we do have an alternative. That would be - ending our opposition to the vivid process of life that is demonstrated everywhere around us by legions of living things. The Earth is our government, our economy and culture, our religion, and our well-being. Something about the "hottest day of the Earth's history" of last week, plus a thousand disasters all over the place... a critical mass is reached that engages us and makes passivity a crime. Earthalujah!

Are the fear-mongers impressed that their climate science denial became so real, so fast? For those of us who recognized the truth in the warnings by scientists going back 30 years, and who sensed in the deniers a dangerous kind of spiteful rejection of common sense - we are not surprised. We are charged with discovering the activism that is so necessary now. What are we capable of? We must move beyond fear. As activists we know that the heat-waves, downpours, viruses, sea-rise, hail stones, polar melts - are the reports of a conscious living being - the planet Earth.

We’ve got to be surreal. We’ve got to be exorcised. We’ve got to be impossible sometimes, to understand. Got to fly from the edge of the cliff. We are weightless now. We are falling through natural disasters and we don’t know how to talk to the Earth. All we can say is “This is unprecedented.”

but none of what we do is a realistic response to the Earth's crisis. 

We need logic more like the surrealism of evolution. We need common sense more

like the paranormal intuition of a psychic who has a crying jag. We have murdered so many people that we have created a new creation-wide level of lamentation, a moan of pain above the dog frequencies beyond ultraviolet light but right here. Our activism comes straight from the mysteries.

We live in the natural world. It turns out that is a science fiction concept. That is why in our Earthchxrch today we feature Ursula K. Le Guin. e feature Jordan Neely, who moon-walked in the tunnels under New York City until his anxieties excited a certain ex-marine to violence. And we honor on our show the singing of three birds who break down the walls of nationalism, religion and militarism - and they are the Siberian Crane, the Arctic Tern, and the Bar-Tailed Godwit. These three birds fly around and around the Earth, free to make the one choice that matters.

It happens once in a while, some of us are possessed. Call it "Justice Possessed". Black Lives Matter, ACT UP, Standing Rock, Occupy Wall Street, The Rapist in Your Path, #metoo... Many of us have never been that possessed. Many of us think of a revolutionary as someone in the distant past. No, now it's you and me. The Earth tells with every wildfire that it is you and me and the time is now.

Earth has the right approach to the 6th Extinction. Engaging the human predator with its ungodly violence; filling us with fear so that we need strongmen and cruel armies. But our weak violence only spins us out. The Earth's power is greater by many orders of magnitude. How can we join up?

Fossil fuel power has taken over much of the known world. And the toxins are killing us. The Earth is the activist that teaches us. She knows what she is doing. The prophecy shared widely among the teachers of Earth culture has it that we will survive if we help the Earth prepare for the changes now accelerating all around us. But how do we join up?

Hamish was best known for his band The Clean, and John for his Afro-Dixie Mixtapes. Ambitious artists could wish to leave for the world such luminous gifts. But “....our little life / Is rounded with a sleep." We can't know whether what we make will survive. All we can do is give to those who follow us our songs, and our stories, for justice, love, and peace. That's what John and Hamish did and continue to do every day. Love-a-alujah!

Lately, the culture seems not alive to many of us, as all expression from any source is swallowed whole by the virtual reality bubble of corporate marketing supported by big money and militaristic police. We seem paralyzed in TikTok's irrelevance. The screens are the walls! And so, in our passivity, we let the Earth’s hyper Evolution and Extinction accelerate toward mass death. But the Earth is waiting for our love and imagination.

The buskers, the doowop groups, the jugglers, Mariachi combo and rappers, and the Michael Jackson moon-walkers like Jordon Neely, killed by an ex-marine/son of a cop from Long Island. A light was extinguished, lighting up of the underground canyons of this city. Years ago, Mayor Guiliani shot, jailed or shipped out of town the characters that might be scary to the tourists in Times Square, making way for the Lion King era. But those weirdos will break through the wall of the monoculture with their unsanctioned song and dance, call them the Unknown.

We develop secret faiths, under the surface with its greasy neon. Deep down inside as the storms and wildfires and starvation and war are accepted prefabricated fascism out in the open. But deep inside new stories unfold like luminescent flowers at the bottom of the ocean. We have transformational change to bring to that ravaged world out there.

Passover and Easter are liberation stories, from Egypt & from Rome; into the Promised Land & into the miracle of Life After Death. Christians & Jews celebrate control over the Earth, its storms & bodies of water & animals. An obedient natural world is the theatrical frame of Moses and Jesus. But that is the virtual reality of faith. In fact, of course, the Earth is in control & never more than now, as we careen into the Sixth Extinction. To believe in this planet-wide event is to have a new kind of faith. Earthalujah!

Governments and corporations have separated us from the Earth via gradualism. Somehow we ended up in our apartments with the Earth only coming to us as decorative shrubbery or background in movies, while gas & oil & plastics kill everything in sight. But with ‘New Reality Pro’ the Apple Corp is getting greedy. They are breeding us with AI robots!

This is exactly what we have done, to storms and floods, starvation and drought, heatwave and novel viruses. We colonize when we separate these disasters from each other and pretend that each is a stand alone event. Climate science denial is one thing, but proclaiming that the daily disasters are not coming from one source...that is the denial adopted by all liberal governments, religions, and corporations. It is easily hidden in their marketing fakery, and it will kill us all.  

Some people who have been called "Great" also seem to have The Fabulous Unknown of the natural world in them. Wangari Maathai, Muhammad Ali, Che Guevera, and all the unknown revolutionaries who gave their lives for our freedom create our beloved ecosystem. The Unknown has eyes we need to see through and ears that allow us to listen. That’s why both making love and making justice feel so good.

"I am no longer accepting things that I cannot change; I am changing things I cannot accept. I am everyday associated with a people who refuse to give up!

Not only that - a people who have created in the process of the struggle - beauty!"  ---  Beautiful Earth, Beautiful Earth, what do you have to say? Beautiful Earth Beautiful Earth, what do you need to hear?

Environmentalism was at once based on eloquent essays. Ecological conscience was grounded in research, impactful data and graphics. But now most of the public doesn't notice such things. Now we are addicted to the little screen. We are "liking" the changes in the faces of Colbert and Gaga and celebrities judging America's Got Talent. We are "liking" someone wearing a costume that makes him look like a green bush. He is disguised, standing still in this perfect likeness of shrubbery, and he suddenly jumps in the path of a pretty woman. The surprised passerby screams and falls to her knees. This is hilarious. The bush helps her to her feet and she is trying to smile. Where does such a communicating style put our activism?

Gestures deemed Inappropriate by police are the justification for murders of the unarmed. Our dramatic work in the lobbies of JPMorgan Chase has evolved since our first direct action in this “king of climate crime” in 2007. This year in 2023 we go banking with a single emotion: extreme wailing sorrow, hysterical laughter, lamentations for police murders of forest protectors, and repeated pratfalls (tipping over while reciting the 6th Extinction’s “tipping points”).

The Earth isn't binary. A boreal forest of a long-grass prairie are the coming together of many species with many qualities, and human beings have their own ece-systems called communities, or neighborhoods. In such places we need difference - and we know it. We live in service to one another, building a gift economy. We create invisible currencies made of feelings of trust. Can we scale up such public compassion as big as a city? A nation? A planet. Yes - we have to.

Tortuguita Imagination Courage THELIVINGFOREST. Death Sex Mutation 6TH EXTINCTION. Sky Unity Singing JUSTICE. 

Yes, review life again and again, around & around led by the women. Because why are we passive in the face of the interruption of life by fossil fuel profiteers and their police. Our powerful ally is life itself. So let's review. But not Disney's "Circle of Life"... Real love comes out of the bright darkness before birth and then with the 13th bullet returns us to the Earth.

Music is the way that the sacrifice community brings the powerful to their sins. A refinery kills children and music bridges to the executive suite, to the Rolls and the Rolex. In this half-hour we go from a jaywalker with painful visions to Dr. King, an anthem of freedom, urban free jazz and owls; from owls in the night to crashing apocalypse to Kenyan school children ignored by the world.

is the thing. Our prayers and thoughts are with our friends and loved ones in California.

The Himalayan mountains are melting and Pakistan is drowning, the heatwaves and blizzards come hotter and colder and stay longer, and now these Atmospheric Rivers are pouring down on the Golden State. The jetstreams are dislodging the invisible landscape over our heads. Even now, we can join the Earth in the Great Change.

Trump is like Huey Long crossed with Bozo. The Museum of Modern Art still tries to scandalize us with futurists from the past.  Covid is the Creature of the Black Lagoon. What do we expect of our future as we cross the threshold of the New Year? All optimism is recycled industrial waste. But I like the Sixth Extinction. It's hair-raising. It isn’t made of the past.

We have this task, find the fabulous unknown in the ecosystem you love and make your body a part of that ecosystem. Are you facing a forest? An alpine meadow? A wetlands? High Plains Desert? That is your great grift here at the turn of the year. Now close your eyes, your favorite ecosystem is inside your beautiful body too. Earthalujah!

If life in these times is a Dangerous Ride then some of us have the instinct to take it fast with the Radio Loud.

Life for us in the risk-it-all 21st Century. Everybody in an official capacity is a pirate.  

The Good are low-balling it and the Worst are healed and focussed. And We know that the Earth is in charge and we are trying to get the signals. Meanwhile, let's do what John and Hamish did: Pull people out of consumer zombie-hood

Dr. Davis emerges from censorship to inspire. The word Spirit is there within the word inspire. Joel Kovel taught us that "inspire" is in fact "In" plus "spirit". When Angela David and Nina Simone inspire us, put spirit into us, contact our spirit that is already waiting there within us - we respond with practical love. We want to help. These great women did not necessarily have the help of traditions. For instance, the two flooded with their curiosity and from necessity into many. "issues” and many people didn't know what to do with their universal embrace. The two held forth in the time before "intersectionality", and made that loving idea possible.

The Earth is the radical today. The Earth is doing things that no-one thought possible. The Himalayan mountains are melting? There were people who didn't want to believe that Hitler was possible, or that the Japanese would ever matter to us - out beyond the Pacific. We have already had many Pearl Harbors and the investor classes hold on the media and public figures is so strong that we consumers remain immobilized in our deadly sleep, watching the screen.

Because this week the zombie tsunami crashes on us all. The News from the Natural World in this Earth Riot episode is breath-taking in the finality of it violence. And meanwhile we shout Earthalujah!!! ...because we are grateful that life evolves, and our dead bodies are released into the sky as flowers and Chestnut-sided Warblers.... Earthalujah!

The nations and tribal people of the global south, struggling with drought, floods, fires, mudslides, sea-rise, aka Climate Chaos... are in Egypt calling out to the toxic profiteers in the north and getting endless negotiations and debt-trap loans. They are an echo from centuries of colonization and slavery. The rich countries cannot understand why Justice is necessary. They remind me of Tsar Nicholas. Power has made them so uncurious that they won't see the revolution coming.

My attempt to translate the Earth's language is guided by these special teachers. First, I try to leap over Trump's wall, where I have been trapped by my name - William. And later in the riot I look for a new kind of media for the message of the Earth. I discovered this media in the people in Times Square listening to us sing and preach. The people can carry the echo of our message because this crowd is as full of colliding life as a forest clearing.

We are coming to understand that Consumerism, the enforcement arm of Capitalism, is deadly in large doses. In New York, a recent study reported, we can experience 10,000 advertisements daily. In the life-and-death emergency in which we find ourselves, we will go directly to the people who are suffering this enchantment, and interrupt them. Shock them. Force them to focus. Bring them the questions that might lead to action.

Start by living in the present tense, that vivid moving thing. In consumer society, which imitates the old religions and fascism -We are distracted away from what we are doing now.

Our present tense life is an infinite source and is where the forest we are walking in comes through to us. It is where the alliance with the Earth comes from. It is impossible to imagine partnership with the hyper evolution called the extinction.

We are marching toward men marching toward us. They have a god above them, who guarantees their eternal life. The god is Krishna, Jesus, Jehovah, Allah, Buddha, Donald Trump, Mickey Mouse, and the pink plastic ruler in the Cracker Jack box. They don't believe in climate change -- that's a sneak attack from a foreign god. Just before these god-people kill us, they see that our supreme being is the Earth, and so they, our fellow earthlings, our murderers, are a part of our mysterious guide. We explain to them that life and death are unexplained but very beautiful. The Fabulous Unknown!

We sing our strong beliefs in the songs in today's Earth Church radio show... The title track of our new record "Change Without Us", is in this show at the 3 minute point. It's a disco song for radical earth activists in the time of 6th Extinction.  The libraries burn but we got the songbook in our bodies.  We have more control of our fate than Q’anon or Scientologists or Exxon would think- because we keep falling in love.  We keep falling in every kind of love.  

Personal extreme change will match the conditions of the Earth's release of fire and flood, virus and death in this Sixth Extinction. Covid, Black Lives Matter and the Ukraine Invasion are object lessons for us. Our house, career, and city... Our plans for parenting and educating and accumulating comforts will be abandoned. Strange evolution will overtake us, sudden intimate agreements, a faster dance in the disappearance of time.

And when I say God I mean celebrities, the first crypto million, and the hope that we will all have one more moment of unexpected sex. What do we really worship? What were we worshipping when the Earth slipped us through the door to our own extinction?

The Webb telescope images didn't show us more Earths. We have been living in a gift. Join the Earth Church, your own version. Be grateful, even if our time is up. Gratitude we should have expressed long ago can be concentrated in a message to the forests that are still standing. 

It's the Earth, the Earth, it's Earth... it's always Earth.

This is a time of name-calling and finger-pointing, and it's not just from extremists. It's everywhere. But we've learned in the Earth Church that right-thinking doesn't persuade like spiritual joining. Would we ever offer best wishes to Jamie Dimon or Jeff Bezos? In this radio show we listen to reconciliations in Rwanda. At the sentencing of Dylan Roof, we witness radical acts of compassion.

All the groups were there, from Sunrise to Extinction Rebellion. Each carries its own history of brazen love struggling against the traditions of fear.  The Supremes are betting that we will enter their cages of hate, like good little consumers. But it may be that the Trumpian lawyers-in-robes have made so many deadly rulings that a new hybrid of justice seeker is in the making. So many different kinds of activists have mixed in the streets to the point of dizzy exhaustion. Will we stagger out of all this with an Earth-loving super-majority? 

We send signals into the unfathomable extinction like bats and their echolocation. And we listen.  

We have made the violent movie that we can’t stop. The Earth, though, is not helpless. The Earth has new life, new love and new caring.  But the storms and wildfires are a part of that new life because we live in the time of extinction.  We will have to become strange to evolve.  As we become radical by re-inventing who we are, we ask the Earth for a place, a mind, a love.

The oak is older than her parents. It has always been there. A loud machine chews it to bits. Protesters down there are dressed up like deer, carrying signs and chanting. The girl watches the deer dancing, waving branches. 

As the physical environment asserts its power, we hunger for the Earth as it really was and may someday be again. But as the children in the windows will learn, to remember the Earth is to remember the crime.

Ariella is one of four tree-sitters in the Stop Shopping Choir, arrested in the endangered East River Park. Our Earth Church is a block away in an unrented bank branch. We gather each Sunday at 5 pm (address: 36 Ave C at East 3rd Street in the East Village). To oppose real estate power in New York City is full of pressure. One of our activists took his life yesterday. So our friend has gone with the 500 trees that went under the blade so far.

May each us find that fierce defender within us, recover it from passive Consumerism, and go to the trees.

We follow this message as it enters the conscious life of billions of people.  It goes into the eyes and ears and brain several times a day. Whether the message is read or heard or seen on the screen, the warning is understood. But then a curious thing happens. The words cohere in the mind, but are deleted before any action takes place. Where did the message go? Something happens between the information and the action, between the recognition of danger and the fight or flight.  Repeatedly, we are paralyzed. Why?

This is the reason that we are oblivious to the danger we are in. We can't image that the Earth is alive. We experience the natural world through the prism of our toxic dust and YouTube clips of lions devouring leopards. The average city dweller with a computer experiences 10,000 ads per day.  Yes, there is the occasional super storm that pokes through our bubble, but the storms and floods aren’t thought of as coming "from an Earth". They are "natural disasters" -- mysterious uprisings of the elements, with no source at all.  We wander on, as the ads circle us... and the Extinction accelerates.

At Earth Riot Radio, we believe that the Earth is a living being with its with own feelings. Here on invasion day, we feel sorrow for all of life, and we wonder -- does the Earth have sorrow too? Nothing is more violent than war, for the Earth and for us all. The horror of war reawakens, a zombie history that cannot die. The Earth carries the confusions of human history in its body, the glorious peace and the murders that keep repeating, again and again.

We are in that time now and we feel stranded with our activism.  We don’t know how to style our confrontation with the fossil-scape.  There are not many slow and long preparations now.  The turns in the battle for life are sudden.  The Earth is our guide, giving us our muscle and our music.  We will know what to do as we slide into the poisoned air, into the biosphere, into the raging flood.  The experience of the Earth will be our gift to and gift from this place.

We need to like the outlandish story-line and join up. And that is what we mean when we say “Wild Dreams of a New Beginning.”. It’s a phrase that was given to us by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, who passed away last March at the age of about a century. He was the sustainer of the Beat generation at his City Lights Books in San Francisco. As this Extinction overwhelms our lives, may we have that vision of the Earth that so many of his authors saw and celebrated. Earthalujah!

Hell waits for the executives of Chase, Bayer, Exxon. These men don't get caught with blood on their hands. They fly in a permanent jet, above their victims, far away. We try to serve them papers but they don’t use paper anymore. The 6th Extinction serves them the papers. Their corporate jets will stop in the sky. The children will board the plane and serve the papers, as they will with each and every one of us. We know, we all know what words will say. The children are already singing the words.

Two teams. The Vaccines vs. the Virus Variants. Our heads turn without thinking toward the largest item in the arsenal of products offered by American consumerism. Win and Lose.

More of that race toward the Binary. The institutionaliizing of fear.  This is the best way to not notice where we are, on the earth with extinction underway.  Recently the earth has suggested that we break through this drift of fear that creates and then kills the Other. The earth shook us out of the product stupor with Trump, the pandemic, and Black Lives Matter.  Everything became more strange and wisdom came closer. It took that much to cause the pause, and yet here we go again.  WAR.

parks, we can say: These tortured molecules that now saturate our eco-systems

are like Robert E. Lee statues that celebrate slavery.  These chemical

constructions are meant to be permanent, markers of imprisonment. We sense a

strange business plan in the mass death encouraged by big fossil banks and their

chemical company clients. Don’t they know what Extinction is? Do they really

believe we'll go along with this?

1,700 parks and 30,000 acres of greenery are filling up with children and picnics and lovers and joggers and birdwatchers. Now they won’t have to risk getting cancer. (Monsanto invented Agent Orange, Bayer manufactured Zyklon B gas and ran a slave-labor factory at Auschwitz). Hopefully throughout this country and the world these corporations will be sidelined by fines, jury awards, class actions by cancer victims. Hopefully they will be controlled by governments that work for the health of people.
