      <title>Episode 26 - Adding Life to Days.</title>
      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-26-adding-life-to-days</link>
<description>We’re definitely in the build up to the Christmas Season. The Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice hosted their annual Christmas Fayre last Sunday. While the building was buzzing there was a quiet calmness in the inpatient unit. Dear Green Place caught up with Staff Nurse Joanne Noble during one of her shift breaks and Sheonad Laidlaw who is a Specialty Doctor in there. After the Christmas Fayre there was the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree in the grounds of the hospice - each light dedicated to the memory of someone who is missed but not forgotten.

      <title>Episode 25 - Keeping the Hospice Running.</title>
      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-25-keeping-the-hospice-running</link>
<description>The Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice is a beautiful award winning building. We’ve heard in previous episodes of Dear Green Place how it is like a 5 star hotel. As well as all the medical care and support that goes on at Glasgow’s Hospice there is a strong operations team keeping the place running smoothly. From the moment you are greeted as you walk through the front door by the reception team to housekeeping and maintenance it’s a constant job keeping everything running smoothly. In this episode we spend time with some of the people who work in these teams.

      <title>EPISODE 23 - Community Outreach </title>
      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-23-community-outreach</link>
<description>One of the important roles at the Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice is to make people aware of the services provided and also to receive feedback from those who have used different services. Jacqui Fernie is the Community Engagement Officer. She tells Dear Green Place about this work and how she connects with different, sometimes hard to reach communities. Jacqui also leads the EASE online course (End of Life Skills for Everyone) which aims to help professionals and interested individuals be more comfortable and confident in talking about issues around death and dying. We also hear from psychotherapist and counsellor Tracy McHugh who talks about about how the course helped her in her work.

      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-22-jean-mccauley-and-carol-smillie</link>
<description>As the days get colder it’s a great time to meet indoors with folks for a chat. Jean McCauley is an outpatient at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and Carol Smillie is an ambassador at Glasgow’s Hospice. We got chatting at the Eco Chic fashion event when Carol was putting us through our paces for the catwalk (episode 21). Carol Smillie used to be a model as well a TV presenter on shows such as Changing Rooms, Wheel of Fortune and the National Lottery. She is now a humanist celebrant. We arranged to meet the following week for a chat on Dear Green Place about their different experiences of being involved with the Hospice. It was a great eye opening discussion about what the hospice means to them both. And an invitation to come and visit. As part of Hospice Care Week you can pop in and find out more about the work here on Friday 13th October between 1-4pm.

<p>As the days get colder it’s a great time to meet indoors with folks for a chat. </p>

      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-21-eco-chic</link>
<description>It’s Autumn and you may well be looking at your wardrobe and thinking it’s time to for a change in what to wear. Early on in September The Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice organised it’s first ever fashion show - Eco Chic - involving the 17 Hospice shops. It was quite an event at the House of an Art Lover just beside Glasgow’s Hospice. Dear Green Place was there along with the 17 models many donning the catwalk for the very first time with their 40 for 40 challenge. The idea being to buy a complete outfit from your local Hospice Shop for under £40 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of hospice care.

      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-14-tapping-into-talents</link>
<description>The Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice has an impressive display of art around the building, much of this created by people who have an association with Glasgow’s Hospice. Susan Brolly attends the Living Well Hub and with the encouragement and support from the art team has been learning the skills to illustrate one of her poems and is now fulfilling a long ambition to publish her own book. Dear Green Place also has a bit of a chat with Chef Stuart McKeown who is helping some of the team to dress creatively for Glasgow’s Pride Parade.

      <title>Episode 11 - How does your garden grow! </title>
      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-11-how-does-your-garden-grow</link>
<description>The gardens at The Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice are glorious right now. Perfect for a stroll or for sitting a while. In this week’s Dear Green Place we hear about the plans for a market garden - and a bit more besides! At the moment it’s a bit of wasteland kindly gifted to Glasgow’s Hospice by Glasgow City Council. Clare Masteron the Hospice’s Business Development Manager outlines the vision of what this could become - once the site is cleared.

      <title>Episode 9 - EVER THOUGHT OF VOLUNTEERING? </title>
      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-9-ever-thought-of-volunteering</link>
<description>There are 800 volunteers involved in all aspects of life at The Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice. They are vital for the smooth running of Glasgow’s Hospice. Throughout this series Dear Green Place has been talking to many of the people who give some of their time, be it in the building, the community shops or at events. To mark the end of Volunteering Week in this episode we hear from Emily Carr - the Volunteer Services Manager as well as some of the volunteers in the busy Bargacree cafe and in the gardens. We also discover more about corporate volunteering - ‘out of the office today’ and helping out.

      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-7-keep-on-talking</link>
<description>Keeping the talk going is a vital part of what goes on at The Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice. Following on from last Friday’s episode Jane Miller - an advanced clinical nurse specialist tells Dear Green Place how her team approach difficult conversations with patients. We hear how communication skills are vital when it comes to palliative care nursing at Glasgow’s Hospice. And how Scotland’s hospices have been talking to the Scottish Government about the need for more support to meet nursing costs.

      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-5-gone-shopping</link>
<description>Everyone loves a bargain. And it’s even sweeter if you know the money is going to a good cause. In this week’s Dear Green Place we go to one of The Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice  charity shops. There are 17 shops throughout Glasgow and they make a significant contribution to the fundraising effort for Glasgow’s Hospice. Pauline Moore spends a morning at The Hospice Shop in Thornliebank which is the only charity shop in the area. And as she discovers it’s pretty much at the centre of the community.

      <link>https://pod.co/dear-green-place/episode-4-on-yer-bike</link>
<description>The big news is that Dear Green Place will be with you every Friday, just in time for the weekend. It’s a shorter weekly catch up on what’s been happening in the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and out in the community. This week we’re on a trip round Bellahouston park on one of the Tri-shaws with Stan who comes to the Outpatients Department on a Wednesday. We are looked after by volunteers James and Martin. Pauline Moore also takes a break with some of the Kilt Walkers raising money for the hospice by doing the mighty 23 mile stride from Glasgow Green to Balloch.

<description>In March’s episode of Dear Green Place - Pauline Moore finds out a bit more about what happens in the Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice’s outpatient department and Living Well Hub. The Peer Mentoring group’s art exhibition; A Common Bond opens at Cass Art in Glasgow City Centre. There’s a recruitment drive for nursing and social care staff. And it’s a month of parties with Gin and Jammies hosted by Edward Reid at the Voco Grand Central Hotel Glasgow. And (A Little Less) Strictly come dancing hosted by Carol Smillie and Bryan Burnett. Kurt Lee and Maria Oakes who we met in Ep2 take home the Glitter Ball after their jive wins top marks from the judges. And just to balance everything out this month there’s a bit of mindfulness.

      <title>Episode 2 - FEBRUARY: Wintering Out.</title>
      <link>https://www.thebiglight.com/deargreenplace</link>
<description>In February’s episode of Dear Green Place - Pauline Moore talks to Azeem Ahmed, who’s been leading a campaign to set up a Learning Hub at The Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice. Azeem has Muscular Dystrophy, and faced too many obstacles attending mainstream college and had to leave. He believes that there are many young adults with life-limiting conditions in his position. Rhona Baillie the Chief Executive of the hospice talked about Azeem at the Burns Supper (Episode 1) which raised the £10,000 needed to get this started. Fiona Wyle senior nurse (Strategy Implementation &amp; Leadership Development) joins in the chat as well.

We also hear from university student Cameron Blythe who volunteers as a peer mentor for young people who’ve recently experienced a close bereavement and Janette McGarvey the young persons development worker.

As Pauline has been finding out there’s a lot of support for family and carers at the Living Well Hub in the hospice. She hears how it has helped Stephen Carmichael who cares for his wife.

There’s also a bit of glitz this month as contestants prepare for the annual (A Little Less) Strictly Come Dancing. We hear from Kurt Lee, who moved to Glasgow during the covid lockdown and went viral on TikTok learning Scottish dances. Kurt’s teamed up with Maria Oakes a former Ballroom professional, who also made his very fancy shirt! And there’s nothing better for a cold winter’s night than a roaring fire. But this one was outside in the carpark and people were raising money to walk barefoot on the embers with Firewalk Scotland.

<itunes:summary>In February’s episode of Dear Green Place - Pauline Moore talks to Azeem Ahmed, who’s been leading a campaign to set up a Learning Hub at The Prince &amp; Princess of Wales Hospice.
