The long-awaited premiere of the "Golden Bachelor" is here and we finally get to meet Mel Owens. He said that he's only been in love once and he would "give anything" to feel that again. However, will the comments he made on a podcast a few months ago could stand between him and his ability to find love? He had said he was looking for someone 45-60 without an artificial hip or wig. He says he regrets it and he is sorry. Mel said that does not represent who he is. The women were definitely offended and not looking to waste their time, but seemed to be in a forgiving mood. They showed up! Mel has two sons and he loves them more than anything. Lucas and Andre are his pride and joy. Mel was born in Detroit in 1958 and his dad was a teacher and a coach. He said he started playing football at age 7 and he played for the University of Michigan, and then from there he was drafted by the LA Rams. His father passed away in 2020, and then his wife filed for divorce after finding someone new. He said it was unexpected. Mel said that since the divorce he hasn't dated, but his boys would like for him to find someone to be happy with. He's been single for five years and is lonely. Mel said he's ready to find love.

Two couples win love and money on 'Bachelor in Paradise' finale

This week on "Playing the Field," Ryan, Jen, and Gina tackle the big "Bachelor in Paradise" finale.

The show had a final" pick an envelope" curveball for two lucky couples at the end.

The relationship challenge was a physical one with Alexe and Andrew coming out on top and securing a place at the end.

The contestants had a surprise visit from some old friends, but it didn't stay friendly.

The Parliament of Paradise was tasked with voting to choose a couple, or not, to split the final prize money, if they could pass one last test.

Trash talk about Sean and Allycia sent Kat into a tailspin, but Dale kept her calm.

Despite that, they were eliminated and Jess and Spencer went to the end.

It didn't seem like Spencer was concerned at all about the money, he was focused on picking and engagement ring for Jess and professing his love.

The final challenge was choosing love or money. Both couples chose love.

Instead of walking away with just their relationships, Jesse gave them the chance to select one of three envelopes with various monetary amounts inside.

Alexe and Andrew won $125,000 and Jess and Spencer picked $190,000!

But, the icing on the cake was Jess accepting Spencer's proposal!

Is it even "Paradise" without a proper proposal?

Glamping and daggers challenge couples on 'Bachelor in Paradise'

This week on "Playing the Field" the team talks about the penultimate episode of "Bachelor in Paradise." It was action-packed with two relationship challenges.

Ryan, Jen, and Gina talk about the glamping challenge and how the contestants were observed by relationship expert, Dr. Laura Berman the entire time without their knowledge. It turns out that, despite what America might think, she found Kat and Dale to be the best couple.

That decision gave Dale the power to break a tie during the rose ceremony, sending Jonathon and Lea packing. He felt they could be strong competitors for the $500,000 prize money.

Next, the couples had to take part in a dagger relationship challenge. The contestants had to stick a dagger in the back of the scarecrow that represented each of them if the statement read by Jesse Palmer rang true. In the end, Alexe and Andrew had the least amount of daggers and won the challenge.

Next week, two more couples will be eliminated in a rose ceremony, and by the end of the episode, we'll see how the show concludes. Will anyone get engaged? Will a singular contestant or a couple walk away with the grand prize money?

Jason Tartick says 'never say never' to being the next 'Bachelor' on this week's 'Playing The Field'

You may remember Jason Tartick from his stint on "The Bachelorette" years ago.

He was vying for Becca Kufrin's heart on season 14 of the show back in 2018. He came in third.

But, following that he actually got engaged to a different "Bachelorette," Kaitlyn Bristowe, a couple of years after her season ended. Their engagement was broken off in 2023.

Since his time on reality television, Tartick, went back to his financial roots and has been helping couples navigate love and the role money plays in relationships.

He's written two books called "Restart Roadmap Rewire and Reset Your Career" and "Talk Money to Me: The 8 Essential Financial Questions to Discuss with Your Partner."

Tartick said that he's been watching this season of "Bachelor in Paradise," and he has some advice for whoever wins the show's $500,000 prize.

"Now with Paradise we have this money pool, $500,000 on the line. I think it's great because you are kind of forcing these conversations, really important conversations that we should be having anyway," Tartick said. "So for whoever does win it, I think the biggest thing is you can't decide what you are going to do with the money or how you are going to do it, or what percentage goes where until you understand everyone, and each individual's relationship with money."

When it comes to whether or not he'd do reality television again, possibly being the next "Bachelor," he didn't rule it out.

"I always say like, you never say never, but I will say since like I don't know what was it, like the last two years there have been five different shows that have approached me to go on and my desire to go back on reality tv is quite low right now, so never say never, but I'd prefer if I was going to go back in for it to be a competition like show but you never know," Tartick said.

There's a growing social media buzz calling for him to be the next "Bachelor," but he said he didn't realize that.

"That's news to me! Some people have sent me these articles that are like these rumors but, yeah, I don't know where all that stuff comes from," he said.

In fact, he said his mom started to joke that he was getting too old for the regular "Bachelor" series.

"My mom was joking around saying, 'Bachelor! You're 36! They have a Golden Bachelor, maybe they'll have a Silver Bachelor, I thought that was pretty funny," Tartick said.

This week on "Playing the Field," Ryan Field is back from his time off and reunited with Jen Matarese and Gina Sirico to talk about the latest happenings in "Paradise."

Let the games begin! "Bachelor in Paradise" is now a competition for love and money and Gary made a bad bet.

In a relationship gambling game, he and Leslie were tied at the top until his final bet cost him half of his chips, and the competition. His poor betting decision eventually led to their elimination.

Bailey and Jeremy came out on top in the game and that gave Bailey the power to eliminate a couple while saving two from the bottom three. Brian and Parisa worked to continue their relationship, despite Brian being annoyed at Parisa's questions and even her compliments of him.

Plus, when it comes to playing the game, is Jonathon doing it all wrong? Lea seemed to have some interest him, but he told everyone, but her that they were just friends. In the end, she gave him the rose and said, "You're welcome."

Meantime, the "Goldens" were all having a great time. Kim and Faith found a romantic connection, and Kathy and Keith continued to have a strong bond. The team looks ahead to next week and talks about what they think could happen once Brian tells Bailey about Jeremy's quest to get Susie back and what he said about her after their date.

Nist famously won over Gerry Turner's heart on the show's first season. Unfortunately, they divorced three months after their lavish TV wedding.

Despite that, the former pair remain friends and she said that being on the show was "one of the greatest, most interesting experiences of my life."

These days, you'll find the grandmother of seven delighting in her new baby grandson, Augie, in New Jersey.

She's also taken up golf and pickleball. In fact, one of the dates on "The Golden Bachelor" was playing pickleball!

Gerry recently called her before going public with the news that he had a new girlfriend in his life. Nist said that she "wishes them the best."

One of the lasting relationships she made on the show was a wonderful friendship with runner-up Leslie.

While Theresa decided that appearing on "Bachelor in Paradise" wasn't for her, she's ready to cheer her friend on as she goes to the beach.

She says she has a bit of FOMO, but is excited to go to a watch party at Leslie's house and plans to watch every episode.

As for Nist, she said that when it comes to her own love life, she doesn't plan to talk about it in public. That's something she now wants to keep private.

Shocking 'Bachelorette' finale: Jenn Tran opens up about her heartbreak, what's next for her

Bachelor Nation along with the "Playing the Field" podcast team, Ryan Field, Jen Matarese, and Gina Sirico, watched in horror as Jenn Tran's journey to find love ended in heartbreak. After first sending Marcus home after he took too long to share his true feelings, Jenn chose Devin as her fiance. She offered him a ring and decided she wanted to choose herself first and be the one to propose. Devin then in turn decided to propose right back and got down on one knee with a beautiful Neil Lane engagement ring.

It would have been great if that was the beginning to Jenn's happily ever after, but now we know it was the beginning of the end. After the cameras stopped rolling, Devin apparently began to struggle with his feelings. Jenn said that he ghosted her and became more distant. He even cut off communication between her and members of his family. Then, before a "happy couple" visit, Devin called Jenn and broke off their engagement, and their relationship in a 15-minute phone call.

A devastated Jenn was forced to relive not only the breakup, but the proposal, all while Devin sat next to her on the stage "After the Final Rose." Bachelor Nation sounded off about the finale and what transpired.

Just minutes later though, Jenn received an offer to join the celebrity cast of "Dancing with the Stars!" She joins "Bachelor" Joey Graziadei, Olympic athletes, and other stars.

Eyewitness News Entertainment Reporter Joelle Garguilo caught up with Jenn and her dance partner Sasha Farber following the cast announcement in New York City.

Then, just hours later, we got the big cast announcement for "The Golden Bachelorette." Joan will certainly have her pick of some handsome men in their golden years. Among them, Kelsey Anderson's hot dad Mark! Bachelor Nation first fell in love with him when Joey visited Kelsey's hometown during "The Bachelor." Now, we'll get to see if her dad finds love with Joan.

We join Jenn in Seattle where she needs to narrow the field from seven men down to four. She has a one-on-one with Marcus where she learns about his past, his family, and his struggles. We also get a visit from some past "Bachelorettes" and contestants. Next, she has a group date where she tries to figure out why Sam M. is "in love" with her. She decides not to hand out the group date rose because she is just too confused. Jenn then has her final date as a one-on-one with Jeremy. He got the date rose after charming her during their time at the Pike's Place Market and during a romantic dinner where they talked a lot about their religious backgrounds and what they want for the future.

How did the team feel during Jenn's powerful conversation with Sam? For Gina, it was a long time coming! At the end of the episode, we learn our final four is Devin, Marcus, Jeremy, and Jonathon. Sam was already eliminated, but Jenn also eliminated Grant and Spencer.

She goes on a one-on-one date with Sam M. Is the chemistry still there? Did his unwillingness to listen to her at Sky Tower hurt his chances or did he do enough to recover from his missteps during the evening portion of their date? Sam M.'s family, meantime, has hit social media with claims that he is getting a bad edit.

The group date took to the rugby pitch to let Jenn watch the men face off. It did bring out their competitive nature, especially for Sam N. Did our love virgin come on too strong or was he DOA? Also, Jonathon and Marcus both seemed to advance their relationships with Jenn.

Finally, Devin didn't have to steal time, it was all his! He got a one-on-one date where they explored the culture of the region. He loved learning about the traditions and the date brought up a lot of conversation about family and religion. They have a lot in common due to being raised primarily by their mothers and both having fathers that they don't have relationships with at this point in time. Devin also told Jenn he was falling for her. Jenn said in an interview, not in front of Devin, that she could see him as her future fiancé.

But wait, who is this? It's Matthew, Jenn's ex crashing the show. He dated Jenn for a few months three years ago. Jenn thought they were just friends, but Matthew flew across the globe to tell her he loves her and he's ready for a real relationship and to get engaged. Wow. That's a lot! Should she allow him on the show? What will the guys think?

This week starts different than most, with a one-on-one date! Spencer gets his chance to take things to new heights with Jenn aboard a helicopter ride along the coast. They have an amazing time, but is there enough of a spark to go the distance?

Next up, the team breaks down Jenn's group dates. One group date is huge! Ten men and Jenn go to "Thunder Down Under" where the guys learn some moves. There could be multiple categories for who looked the best, who danced the best, and who had the most confidence, but on the show, only one man got the top honor.

Later, Jenn takes four lucky men on a race car driving date as Aaron contemplates chasing his dreams over continuing to date Jenn. In the end, he decides to bow out. But, before he does he tells Jenn that some men are not ready to get engaged while others are not there for the "right reasons." But who? We can safely assume he's referring to Devin, but he makes it sound like several men fall into these categories. He tells Jenn she needs to figure it out for herself. Was that cruel for him to do?
